For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Happy Christmas FMF

Franny - your stroganoff sounds delicious. I used to make that (with beef) and then have it with a pile of matchstick chips. Dreadfully unhealthy but so tasty.

I made the spaghetti bolognaise with half mince half lentil this evening but it didnt go down a storm. They're happy to have loads of veg in it but I think either lentil or meat. The two together was a bit odd.

DD has put her stocking on the end of her bed so she doesnt have to bother doing it tomorrow. She said, if he comes past on his way somewhere, he might put one present in.

I forgot the proper pistachios for the fudge and had to use shelled salted ones so I washed the salt off and hoped for the best. I have been out this eveing to deliver them to friends in little snowflake bags and it was freezing, really foggy too. We've read Lucy and Toms Christmas, Mogs Christmas and The Night Before Christmas so I feel very christmassy now.

Blimey, dd2 has only just gone to sleep. She kept questioning me about Wombling's dcs

We the veggers of Mumsnet are
Bearing leeks we travel afar
Roughage munching
Celery crunching
Waving a ba-na-na

O-oh
Veg of Wonder, Veg of Delight
We all eat it day and night
Our poor spouses
Nibble like mouses
But they'll get their oats tonight

Sprouts are mine, their bitter perfume
Gently scents my sitting room
Peeling them, sighing, steaming, frying
No-one wants them [gloom]

O-oh
Veg of Wonder, Veg of Delight
We all eat it day and night
Our poor DCs
Nibble like meeces
We'll fill their stockings with apples tonight

I hope you like it and teach your children to sing it. You have to be very careful to get the metre right on 'banana' or it goes wrong

oh it was nothing, really [false modesty]

I have cleaned my bathroom with a a toothbrush and a forbidden substance. God it was filthy beforehand. Sorry about the forbidden substance but as I last cleaned my bathroom about a year ago, perhaps it cancels out.

Then I ate pineapple, melon and grapes. I am in a kind of bleach haze from the fumes, I know it was not an ideal thing to be breathing in, but dp would never have done it and as I say my exposure to cleaning materials is minimal on the whole

we are going food shopping, wish me luck

I wish I had said we would 'fill their stockings with kale'

that would have been funnier

or mangoes, which is nearer the truth in this house

Urtekram toilet cleaner is good for all over bathrooms. It smells strongly of vinegar but that is better than bleach. I used it on thje toilet this morning, then used the Green People multi surface cleaner on the sink. Which was filthy.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 10:01

oh thanks TooT I haven't tried that one

is it fierce and erm, bleach like in its effect? I feel if I cleaned every week I could use something less toxic but that is unlikely to happen tbh

Oh top veg-carol writing Franny!

I've just got up! This is the longest i've stayed in bed since having children I think. After yesterdays marathon day of party throwing and feeling better i then couldn't get out of bed today and feel totally rubbish. But luckily dp has had some kind of transformation and is busy washing and cooking! DD1 now has The Bug, so we're about to share the duvet on the sofa. Dd2 is recovered and doing her tearing the place apart trick.

Hope all the other ill ones are better.

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 13:59

Oh Boco fingers crossed you are well tomorrow and can enjoy yourselves. Very much trying to look on the bright side, at least dp is off and you can rest and recover - I find when I have been too busy / stressed, my body often waits for a quiet period and then collapses. I know you still have loads to do though.

We just did our food shop, it was fine. Not too busy and people seeming reasonably jovial rather than fighting over the custard as I have read about on other threads. We got some Rankin's cinnamon and raisin loaf which is ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. Especially with about an inch of butter on it

also had pesto rice, leftover potatoes, hummus, chickpeas, sugar snaps, cucumber, baby corn and some weird but nice bean and lime dip. My 10 / 10 ness improving every day (I think I am just eating more that is the thing)

I am making this to take with us for Christmas lunch tomorrow:

scroll down for fruity Christmas stuffing

do you think it will be nice? I am slightly dubious but it has been specially requested so I will give it a go

FrannyandZooey · 24/12/2007 15:20

Hello, 10/10ers. Happy Festivities.

It's funny you should be talking about Green and Blacks because I was going to send some to everyone in the New Year.

Thank you TooT, you have helped my bank balance me keep a clearer conscience.

Have finally adjusted to the change in Season and stoppoed pining over strawberries and angsting over air miles.

Parsnips are lovely after all.

lionheart · 24/12/2007 15:25

It sounds lovely, Franny (except for the chicken innards).

Mine comes in a little box.
