For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I am now picturing a bewhiskered dog trying to hump your leg. I have combined the two allergens.

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 20:05
  1. yes certainly, it will occur to your ds one of these days that he can, and he will start calling you mater and take you out for lunch and stuff

  2. we did this very early and it was hell but glad we got it over with

OMG. I thought you meant the Homeopath had whiskers and was letchy. that's what I think. I think he's Rasputin Toot

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 19/12/2007 20:14

Asparagus and garlic good for fighting off horridness

That's my excuse for eating both all the time anyhow

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 20:33

Lol at whiskery rampant homeopath / rasputin figure

Bocohohoho · 19/12/2007 21:43

Well I'm quite disappointed. The homeopath i'm seeing is a pallid older woman, no whiskers, she didn't make any advances or anything

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 21:51

I feel I must distinctly separate the whiskery letcher from the homeopath.

The homeopath is a picture of wholesome goodness.

The letcher is well meaning but leery and unfortunately hairy.

The dog was hairy but not letchy.

Bocohohoho · 19/12/2007 21:53

Can you letch in a well meaning way?

Ask 100, is that what she was doing last night?

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 21:56

I think there are degrees of letch.

Some are sort of simple and dog-like.

Some are more menacing.

Some get carried away and pat a knee.

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 21:57

I suppose 1 and 3 are well meaning.

Bocohohoho · 19/12/2007 22:00

I like your 'Letches I Have Known' catalogue. It's quite thorough. And i've realised that 2/3 of letches are well meaning, and i didn't know that.

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 22:10

ah that doesn't necessarily follow

they may not all be equally distributed among the 3 categories you see, there may be a disproportionate number of category 2ers around

Erm, I was wondering. This is a little embarrassing, and you may not feel this is the right place to ask. But I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how to increase my fruit and vegetable intake?

I seem to get breakfast alright and then it just goes wrong.

OP posts:
Bocohohoho · 19/12/2007 22:14

What on earth would you want to do that for

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 22:14

I didnt say they were equal categories, just different.

Um, well, always have salad and veg with your lunch, I always have cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, sugar snaps or something with any sandwich/oat cake lunch. Big soups? Smoothies?

TooTickyDoves · 19/12/2007 22:14

Franny dear, order yourself a nice veg box and then eat the contents. Simple

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 22:16

Yes, Franny, you just buy the fruit, and eat it.

Have you tried mangoes?

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 22:17

I don't like making lunch very much, it is a tricky one

I can eat veg and salad and stuff if we go out, but making it at home is a trial atm

smoothies are good. I probably am getting ok amount of fruit, I guess it is the veg.

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 22:17

oooh MANGOES

make me eat veg, I don't want to. Stand over me with a big stick and make me.

TooTickyDoves · 19/12/2007 22:20

How about pitta breads? If you pre-prep various salady veg then it is fun and easy to stuff pittas.
I never actually do this, I just wish I did. Should be a doddle for one with bulk cooking experience.
Have houmous too.
Or do the fried version with onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, courgettes, etc.

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 22:23

well, its minimum preparation really

open sugar snap packet

chop tomatoes in half

put whole carrot on plate

open convent garden soup packet

never have a sandwich without vegetables

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 22:30

I need deposing

shall we have an uprising?

OP posts:
TooTickyDoves · 19/12/2007 22:32

Yeah, okay.
Who's going to be the rebel leader?

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 22:32

well it would be a bit weird if i decided that, wouldn't it?
