For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Hello all

I didn't turn the computer on yesterday and got quite a bit of stuff done. We are going away at the weekend so everything needs to be done early

Avi ds has been chewing like mad the last few nights as well. Last night I got fed up and said, "I am going to the toilet, you lie down with Daddy," which he did, and when I came back 2 minutes later he was asleep!

Tatties · 19/12/2007 13:19

Ooh Gibbon, fried egg sandwich, YUM. We had a fry up at the weekend, it was lovely

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 19/12/2007 13:40

Well done on getting organised Tatties I need some of those vibes

It was lovely

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 17:01

Herllo

I don;t like fried eggs, could I have a bacon roll please

I have eaten fruit salad, hoummous with peppers, and we are having veggie chilli with guacamole for supper, but I think I could fit one in

Luckily already preapred because I am very, very tired.

DS has stuck a sticker over my mouth so it's a good job I can cybertalk.

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 17:18

I am going to have a chip roll and a mushy pea fritter for dinner

where did it all go wrong? it is like the lard eaters support group on here some days

our neighbours have FOUR light up moving reindeer on their lawn. I am so jealous I could spit. We just have one little wicker one with fairy lights and it doesn't move. Ds has called it Boosley and says it is Father Christmas's favourite reindeer. I have to sing "Boosley the Gold Faced Reindeer" quite a lot.

yulemoonfiend · 19/12/2007 17:59

mmmmmm lard.....

I have had tangerine, grapes, melon, lentil and veg soup. Also copious lemon, ginger and honey drinks
Having chilli stir fry for supper. Not ten/ten, but way ahead of you lot of sinners.

May I have a pre-christmas wobble here?
we are all (14 of us in total!) supposed to be going up to my sister's for christmas. Have just spoken to her, she is on week 2 of killer cold from hell. Her house is vast and freezing. She has failed in her attempt to secure any form of xmas tree. Her husband has not yet had the killer cold so will no doubt succomb on xmas eve....my kids haven't succombed to it yet either.

Somebody tell me christmas will be ok and not decend into a sit-com nightmare of sickness, cold, me running round dispensing hot drinks to 10 other poorly people and lack-of-festive-cheer...please....

BBBee · 19/12/2007 18:36

fmf - it will be fine. Any sign of trouble tell everyone to drink a pint of water adn do a shoulder stand

BBBee · 19/12/2007 18:38

seriously though fmf it will be fine. these things alwys are fine. IF her dp is ill he is in bed - so what. No tree? You give everyone a newspapaer and have a decorating competetion. Take fizzy wine and kir adn be your usual sparkling self - it will be a damn sight better than lots of peoples christmas.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 18:39

well i got up at three before it got dsark

and i have eaten granola of the bought sort and about 4 banas a couple of apples and some toast and i think thats about it will probly have chicken in yougurt and curry with salad leaves next

BBBee · 19/12/2007 18:40

zippi you are very naughty - no wonder you want a sexy dressing gown.

I bet you have some tiger print underwear don;t you.

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 18:47

LOl we live a strange sort of vicariously exotic life through you Zip, don;t stop will you

Franny are your serious about the four prancing reindeer? Yours sounds lovely though

DH has made me want to post in AIBU.

I am willing myslef not to and breathing hard out of my nostrils in the manner of a disgruntled reindeer (not a pretty sight)

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 18:47

i have been an awful good girl

so perhaps i shall get some for christmas ..highly unlikely tho

yulemoonfiend · 19/12/2007 18:48

what's up FK????

BBBee · 19/12/2007 18:53

yes FK - what blows?

I am eating a pomegranite.

SantaBabyBeenAnAwfulGoodGirl · 19/12/2007 18:53

what has he done?

i am just geting strangely over excited about my day out whihc is a bit odd

this time tomorrow i will probably be coming down again lol

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 19:04

Oh just a typical AIBU moment in the FK household.

DH came home fro work and the first thing he did as he came through the door was to moan about the fact that last night there was no food in the house for him to eat.

Now (a) there was food, he managed to make himslef a tuna sandwich, but he could have had eggs, or cooked himself pasta, or baked a potato, or a few other options but

(b) I had told him earlier that I was not cooking anything last night because I was going out & DS was going to a party. He had told me that was OK because he would have something to eat at work (he didn;t) so when he got home I suggested he get a takeaway delivered (he didn;t), but I left him assuming he was going to do that

So I started snorting and pawing the floor with my hooves and it kind of escalated into a clash of antlers

Think I need to go and pull a sleigh round the block

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 19:27

I just left a nice but stressful party with the kids without eating the curry and brown rice and bought chinese on the way home.

I have had fried rice, chow mein, crispy duck, spring greens, prawn bals and chips so I am the biggest sinner.

DD was being DD and a bit in-yer-face, singing loudly with mic, breaking darts board, eating ALL the melon, better than all the mince pies I suppose. LO was terrorising the fish, climbing the stairs, eating dice and I was allergic to the dog and my friend's Dad so I thought it was time to go.

FMV - you have got to chill out. You sound worse than me with worrying who/what/when/might get ill. Worst case scenario - you are all ill, best case scenario - none of you are, most probable - someone will be, and all this stress it will be you. So, reeelaaax. We can't control colds and Christmas.

ahundredtimes · 19/12/2007 19:37

I want to talk to Toot about her homeopath. Him with the six chldren.

I've been thinking about him.

He has taken on Rasputin-like dimensions in my mind.

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 19:40

But stock up on the Elderberry extract before you go FMV

Dh has apologized, he was not moaning, he was helpfully pointing out that we have no food in the house. Apparently.

DS ate 4 satsumas and the rest of the grapes again this afternoon so I know we have no fruit left, except a mango, which had better be a good one.

TooTickyDoves · 19/12/2007 19:53

100x, I am here but v. briefly because dcs must go to bed. I'll be about later or you can email

MrsC, I'm glad it's not just my dcs that can be chaotic. Why werre you allergic to your friend's dad?

Fmf, if it's awful, can you not just go home? Anyway, it won't be awful.

yulemoonfiend · 19/12/2007 19:53

agh that sounds so like my dh FK...
( I am already ill FK, which is probably why I am being so fretful..)

FrannyandZooey · 19/12/2007 19:58

Ds is in quite a wearing phase atm

I think it has just occurred to him that he doesn't actually have to be nice and do what we ask him to do

dammit

FK, yes truly, I shall take some photos over Christmas so you can enjoy them too. Our whole estate goes extraordinary in December, with lights and huge flashing things and swinging Santas and fibre optic doodahs. The neighbour originally put 2 reindeer on the lawn, cue great excitement from ds, then when the two disappeared briefly and were restored as FOUR, he was beside himself with joy and leapt up and down outside their house yelling "THEY ARE BREEDING!!!"

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 19:59

Get some elderberry, and some manuka honey.

Honestly, I had a stinking cold last week and started swigging them in combination on about day 3 of the cold, and by the next day, it was virtually gone. It was way too quick to just have been normal recovery.

And so what about the tree, etc tbh. Just go and drink wine and let the kids run riot

MrsCarrot · 19/12/2007 20:00

Toot - he has these whiskers and he's a little bit letchy. Whiskers and letchers are a bad combination I find.

FrayedKnot · 19/12/2007 20:02

on two points

(1) DS has never been remotely interested in being nice / doing what is asked, do you think the reverse can apply?

and

(2) that I may have to be facing the facts of life conversation sometime soon (having spectacularly not dealt with the death question)
