For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

LOL ay-vi - you're right, better move on over to Tresco, they should have more suitable provisions, maybe even a chef.

LL sorry to hear ds is so ill - hope you get better soon.

Kermit - we have been bopping away to that today, the wanging (ver technical musical term) aubergine had me in stitches.

filthymindedvixen · 28/11/2007 19:03

I heart those vegtable musicians. they Rock! (et)

TootTheAbsoluteLoon · 28/11/2007 19:26

LL, so sorry ds is unwell

I have just eaten veggie bratwurst, roast potatoes, carrots and sprouts, and some gravy that was nearly horrible but then I saved it but it was rather ample and runny afterwards AND it boiled over while ds1 was needing me urgently in the bathroom. Wonderful meal though

Franny, please tell me about your nice nut loaf and mushroom gravy. You could even put them on the 10/10 recipe thread

Hello .

Have had some satsuma. And banana at 3.30am (DD to be blamed for waking up). And carrot. And tomato.

I need more F&V in me I think.

IdrisTheDragon · 28/11/2007 19:59

I so remember the early pregnancy times of needing potato. And occasionally orange.

Boco · 28/11/2007 20:00

We had lychees. DDs call them eyeballs. I love them.

IdrisTheDragon · 28/11/2007 20:01

Boco I am so pleased to hear about the demise of the Birthday Table .

MrsCarrot · 28/11/2007 20:01

They are llike eyeballs aren't they. DD loves them too.

IdrisTheDragon · 28/11/2007 20:02

DH calls them eyeballs too.

He introduced them to me at university. And other things as well.

FrayedKnot · 28/11/2007 20:03

Hello

LL oh dear DS sounds really poorly Hope he recovers soon. DS has a sore throat tonight and didn;t eat any tea. He seems bright enough though...hoping he isn;t going to be properly ill though.

Boco, please, please go. Friend sounds wonderful. Holidays are soul food, just make sure you go somehwere fab.

We are going on holiday with my family next year. There are some really obvious benefits like DS has his cousins to play with and we can all take it it turns to cook, and babysit at night. DH is already grimacing at teh thought though

I am compiling a music quiz for charity week at work, and have to do some burning onto CD ina minute.

I feel a bit thinly spread at the moment.

Boco · 28/11/2007 20:08

Lully hope ds is better soon, shame your grandmothers visit wasn't as you'd hoped. Must have been nice to have her around while looking after ds though.

FK thanks. I'm still swaying. It would be to cheapest possible resort while still being warm - tenerife i think, i don't want to owe her too much if i do decide to go for it as it'd take months to pay off and would feel bad, but the thought of being somewhere warm in january is too much.

FrayedKnot · 28/11/2007 20:11

Oh and I've had melon, grapes, kiwi, apple, dried fruit, guacamole, veggie chilli with beans, celery and peppers.

We have three sandwich vans that call at work with teh usual fayre but one of them does bowls of fruit salad, which is great for me when I've rushed out and forgotten to raid the fruit bowl on the way out.

Can anyone educate me in the ways of tofu, please? I am totally ignorant of what sort to buy or what to do with it. i tried it once many years ago and didn;t like it I don;t think, but I can;t even remember how / what it was cooked with.

MrsCarrot · 28/11/2007 20:12

what do you mean still swaying, Boco? I thought you were going to obey my table banging.

I gave you a cocktail umbrella, and a jelly baby.

MrsCarrot · 28/11/2007 20:13

FK - the only tofu I like is the smoked stuff you slice in a stirfry or whatever. I don't know much about silken tofu.

Boco · 28/11/2007 20:15

MrsC your argument was very convincing. I may go back and re-read it several times over.

MrsCarrot · 28/11/2007 20:18

It was the jelly babies that did it was it not?
