Anybody around I can talk to? DH just taken to hospital by a neighbour and I'm at home with the baby and panicking.

DH started with what we thought was a migraine last night, not uncommon for him. Today it's still there but he went to work anyway. From about 3pm he started to vomit (again not unusual when he has a migraine but he usually only vomits once).

He has been sick 11 times. A colleague drove him home, I phoned the on call doctor an hour ago who said he needed to go straight to hospital as he couldn't talk on the phone. He was lying on the floor groaning and crying by this point. He's clammy and says he's freezing cold.

Obviously our car is at his work 12 miles away so I knocked on every neighbours door until I found one in and they've taken him to hospital.

I'm at home as we have a 6 month old who's in bed and I didn't want to waste time waking her and packing stuff in a bag for her.

I'm terrified. DH is a calm, reasonable man usually but couldn't string a sentence together and was just clutching his head and rolling on the floor.

Somebody talk to me.

Do I phone the hospital in a minute and see what is happening?

Glad you called your mum. Take care. I think he will be fine but it is such a worry. There are some very strange viruses about. I remember that DO had something similar when I was pg. He was very ill and incoherent and a very very low temp. after the last vomit of many vomits he started to improve quite dramatically. Funnily enough I had called his mum (we were going to have to go to hosp) and by the time she arrived he was so much better.

Just phoned the mau again. They said that he is there and waiting to see somebody. They don't know how long that will take and said there are no beds available so they don't know where he will end up. He said I could phone again later if I wished but I should try and sleep if I can. I asked how dh was and he said he's still unwell and photophobic and they're just waiting for a doctor.

If he's not seeing somebody straight away and they've told me to sleep, that's a goodish thing, right? I mean they don't consider it urgent?

Take care. I always find it helps to sleep near my DD's when I need a bit comfort.

Going to bed to now, hope to hear some good news in the morning.

babalon · 13/11/2007 00:07

xx

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/11/2007 00:31

I hope you manage to get some rest. It must be very worrying for you.

ggglimpopo · 13/11/2007 06:52

How are you SOH? And how is he?

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2007 06:59

Good (?) morning.

I went to bed with dd. We co-sleep so was glad of somebody to cuddle. She seemed restless and aware that something was amiss. She woke every time I let go of her and wouldn't settle without being cuddled. I slept a bit on and off until 4am and then got up and did some housework because I couldn't sleep properly and was having nightmares.

I've been ringing the medical admissions unit but there's no answer. I don't know which other department I could phone. I'm praying he had a restful night and is on the mend but can't get hold of anybody to confirm this.

My Mum's on her way now. Told her not to come out in the cold last night. She'll be here within the hour.

Did you manage to get any sleep? What time is your mum coming?

IntergalacticWalrus · 13/11/2007 07:05

Hope you manage to get a definityove response from MAU.

I hope your DH had a restful nights sleep too, and is feeling a bit better this morning.

StealthPolarBear · 13/11/2007 07:18

SoH
What's the hospital? Do they not have a general reception that can put you through to the right place?
Glad your mum is on her way. Hopefully he will be much better this morning, but what a night you must have had!

cameroonmama · 13/11/2007 07:23

SOH, I'm so very glad your mum is on her way over. I'm keeping my fingers crossed J is doing well, I'm sure if there was anything to worry about they would have called you even in the middle of the night. x

Haribosmum · 13/11/2007 07:23

I hope your husband is feeling much better this morning.

ShowOfHands · 13/11/2007 07:28

Just spoke to someone. He's in the emergency assessment unit having tests and waiting to see a consultant something or other. I assume he's still in there as they have "no beds whatsoever on the wards". The staff nurse said that he wouldn't let people even touch him last night but seems better this morning. She said I can go straight there to see him if I want. I'm waiting for my Mum, going to have a shower and heading straight out there.

mazmack · 13/11/2007 07:28
