For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I need ot go and get DS and DD. So I am not actually ignoring you, just not here .

FrayedKnot · 15/11/2007 17:23

Think bill for "cakes not eaten" more likely to be "cakes made and eaten by Fk's DS and FK" actually

I am cooking romanesque cheese and various baked vegetables for supper.

fullmoondickinson · 15/11/2007 18:07

I'm sorry. But I will happily forego the quinoa and just eat my own bodyweight in cake....

Boco · 15/11/2007 18:11

I've had no fruit or vegetables at all. Which is why i've not visited you all today. I had some toast.

fullmoondickinson · 15/11/2007 18:14

I've had salad tomatoes carrots beans lentils asparagus grapes melon leeks pears banana cake.
I am saving myself for the weekend....

FrayedKnot · 15/11/2007 18:49

Are you OK, Boco?

DS is shouting very loudly upstairs.

I'm so pleased DH is here.

FrayedKnot · 15/11/2007 18:55

Just thinking.

When you have an upset tummy in Italy you find yourslef surrounded by old Italian ladies nodding sagely and recommending you to "Mangiare in bianco" which literally means "eat white things"...i.e. plain pasta with no sauce, or bread, or potatoes, or something.

Zippi, lol, I don;t know why I didn;t think of that with the rice

TigerFeet · 15/11/2007 18:57

I am still poorly sick, nasty coughy chest infection (week 4 thereof) although am pleased to report that the yeast infections seem to be clearing. Have been signed off work this week and have spent most of it asleep

I have eaten mangoes, a papaya, grapes, satsumas, pomegranites, bananas, apples and more. All in vast quantities. I think I need to lay off the sweeter fruit and get onto savoury veg for a while.

How is everyone? Have I missed anything? This thread moves so fast that I can't keep up in my present lurgy addled state.

ahundredtimes · 15/11/2007 19:16

Oh not poor Tiger. Hope you feel better.

I'm very impressed by MrsC. She has wrested herself away from MN very well.

I actually think I have spent most of the day on here.

Right. I'm going to make more lists, and Step Away For A Bit. (Like an hour or something.)

Have a lovely time at the weekend veggers. I shall be there in spirit. A cocktaily spirit, with shoes and a satsuma.

I'm cocooned in the kitchen with the electric heater on and the laptop and pasta because the house is freezing. We've been away since Sunday and the heating had switched itself off. Freezing, I tell you. I have been LOVL at you lot... "NO you are not ALLOWED to do that", Dad's bums, pigeons and the thought that any cake might remain uneaten. My dh is coming (and me in fact). There will be no cake left in the city

pinkspottywellies · 15/11/2007 19:18

100x why aren't you coming? It's not too late you know.

pinkspottywellies · 15/11/2007 19:19

Oh and sympathy to all the poorly people

FlashHarrymoonfiend · 15/11/2007 19:38

Ahundred. Add
Come to Meet-Up
to your list. NOW! There is a psare room you know...

frothykindofadrink · 15/11/2007 20:08

Hello Tiger, it is comfy here in the poorly corner isn't it?

I have shared my sickbed today with hot pink little dd2 who was so tired and ill that she cuddled up and sat through the repeats of Frasier and Desperate Housewives that now make up my average day. It has actually been lovely snuggling with her, since I haven't been well enough to look after her it is the longest I have spent with her for ages. I think she is beginning to remember who I am

I have had apple, raisins, satsuma, butterbean soup, watermelon, dried apricots, and a small amount of mangetout and sweetcorn (dh made tea so couldn't be picky about quantities). oh and carrot juice

might sneak down later for a banana. I think I'll be asleep in about half a hour though

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 20:09

yes I was wondering whether it was a good time to start the last minute attack on 100 to get her to come after all

there is a hotel room

and you could just turn up at the venue and not sit with us and eavesdrop

FrannyandZooey · 15/11/2007 20:10
pinkspottywellies · 15/11/2007 20:19

ahundreadtimes your presence is required at the 10/10 meet up. Failure to comply will result in your house being ransacked by GIANT butternut squash and overexcited peas who will drag you to the aformentioned event.

Ah go on. Come.

TigerFeet · 15/11/2007 20:21
frothykindofadrink · 15/11/2007 20:24

damn! I do not have a contagious condition and can therefore not cough menacingly

I am moderately depressed tho (it's official, I did a questionnaire)

perhaps I could make you all miserable instead in the manner of Marvin from Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy

Hope everyone is feeling better. I'm feeling much more human having eaten some dinner, little bit more perspective returning at last.
