For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

TooTicky,
Yes we are in west Wilts too. whereabouts are you?
Spooky!

We are off to Slimbridge today, bird place. thing is, birds aren't a favourite with me at all. It's okay if they sit still, but all that swopoing, not good.

Dh and i have had a row alreday, so it will be a tense day I feel.

On a brighter note, roasted veg lasagne, salad and quite a bit of fruit yesterday. And apple crumble.

I have been trying to drink more water also, and have noticed an improvemnet in my skin. But I have to pee so much, it's ridiculous.
Does your bladder ever get used to it?

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 30/10/2007 09:02

I just searched on her other thread too Franny as I was wondering about Boco's DD. Hope all is ok. Perhaps she is just needing lots of TLC.

I feel rough. Have cought DDs' coughs. Have had orange juice and an apple, and a multivitamin tablet.

Off out in a bit where I normally have a choc cookie. May exchange for a blueberry muffin. Is that remotely healthy? Or is the goodness cooked out of the blueberries? I'm kidding myself, arent I....

Bocoreepy · 30/10/2007 10:09

Hello, sorry to have not updated that thread but internet refused to connect last night - i was having panic at the thought of it never working again. It just kept saying 'authentication failed' and i accused dp of changing the password to force me to quit mn. This morning it just connected.

Dr did say mumps straight away, but then looking at her tonsils said tonsillitis as they're apparently so big they're touching. She's got antibiotics. I've not known it like this though - she's very shaky and hot and floppy. Still asleep now. Dr said we had to watch for breathing or swallowing probs and bring her back.

Luckily i was up ALL night anyway with dd2, who at 9pm was sick in bed. Changed all the sheets and put her back and it happened again - and then 6 more times! Not once did she use the bowl. No sheets or towels left, she ended up sleeping on a dressing gown under a coat! I can't do no sleep and two ill children - i feel like i have some very bad illness karma - what did i do? [wail]

Oh and mrsC - we probably picked this one up from the people we saw on thursday who apparently got ill just after - so i'm sure it's not from you. And even if it was i practically forced myself into your home despite warnings!!

MrScarRot · 30/10/2007 10:55

Kind of you to say that, Boco, but I'm not so sure. Did your friends get ill as well or just the children? It nly seemed to affect our littlest.

I am going to send things. I don't know what yet, but they will be good things.

TooTicky · 30/10/2007 11:17

Boco, I am sending you huge amounts of restorative fruit-filled energy. Massive, massive sympathies and I hope they both get better v. quickly.

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 30/10/2007 12:17

Boco that sounds rough

So far today I have eaten 2 apples, 4 satsumas and two curly wurlies. Am off out later to buy a salad for lunch.

I wish I could be organised enough to make lunch - I am so knackered of an evening I just can't muster up the enthusiasm.

FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2007 12:47

Boco that sounds dreadful although I am glad last night's silence was just the pc problem. I hope they are both better soon and that you get some sleep. Can tonsillitis really make your neck swell up like that?

It seems like loads of children and loads of us are poorly at the moment. Hope everyone is in better health soon. Can I just gently remind everyone to be tactful when talking about stomach upsets on this thread as some people are phobic about it. I know it gets like don't mention the war on here sometimes what with loofahs and birds

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2007 12:58

Have eaten red pepper, cucumber, lettuce, carrot, beetroot, toast and butter, half an avocado

we are going to make halloween fairy cakes and biscuits in a minute, and carve our pumpkin and put up decorations.

OP posts:
MrScarRot · 30/10/2007 13:00

yes, I thought about making some, then I bought some from Somerfields

and I haven't eaten any fruit yet

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 30/10/2007 13:05

Loofahs I understand but birds? Is that a euphamism for something or are there some bird phobics out there? I kind of get why there might be, I loathe seagulls, especially when they swarm.

lionheart · 30/10/2007 13:11

Hello, sounds like an awful night, Boco. Hope your DD moves on to the ice cold nice things soon.

DS2 has befriended a pumpkin and we have had to carry it around with us for two days.

It ate with us last night and also went shopping.

IdrisTheDragon · 30/10/2007 13:33

Loofah is another way of talking about eight legged creatures.

FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2007 15:23

I think 100 is just about ok with everyday bird chat but when we get mean and tease her about mynah birds I think she finds it less funny.

I have made fairy cakes with the wrong sort of flour. They seem to have risen, a bit. Then some people - looked like one bloke whose job it actually was, plus his girlfriend who was about 17? came to the door to sell windows and just kept getting the giggles and creasing up. I can see now this is maybe quite funny but at the time it incensed me and I slammed the door in their faces

Oh and I broke my resolution not to discuss my family with other members of my family already. My sister rang up casually 'to chat' (she never rings up casually to chat) and eventually got around to saying "oh did you sort out the thing about the sword?" I held out quite well until she said "well I think she was just mortified to have upset you" at which point I snapped "if she was that mortified I am not quite sure why she decided to dress him up in the sword and dagger the next day, get him marching up and down and take photos of him."

Oh fucking HELL I am still so CROSS about it especially at myself for being so lily livered. I am now plotting ways to avoid going over at Christmas ALTOGETHER, mainly because I presume it will be quite obvious that I am pregnant by then, yet I will not have had my scan, and I don't want to tell ds until I have had a scan. And if one of my family know they will all tell each other and they will also let it slip to ds. This is just stupid. I should not be in the position of having to try to stop my mother from finding out I am pregnant.

Tatties · 30/10/2007 15:38

Franny Franny Franny! Trust me to miss the announcement!

Congratulations I am so pleased for you.

Ooh I am a bit tearful

FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2007 15:39

Oh Tatties I am glad you missed it because I have been too ashamed to keep going on about it (much ) today and I am feeling all post-party blues ish

HC is fab she rang me this morning to say "I am STILL very excited!"

OP posts:
lionheart · 30/10/2007 15:44

Go on about it if you want Franny. There is plenty of bossomy listening on here.

Tatties · 30/10/2007 15:45

Oh yes keep going on about it, it is very exciting

I love talking about baby stuff. I was just thinking the other night while feeding ds to sleep about just how wonderful and miraculous the whole thing is. Are you thinking about names and clothes and dates and things already?

Will it be really obvious at Christmas? Could you not hide under baggy jumpers? I can totally understand still being angry; I can brood about things for AGES. It's because it hasn't been resolved

lionheart · 30/10/2007 15:47

Yes, if you think about it for five seconds it is mind-bogglingly awe-inspiring.

FrannyandZooey · 30/10/2007 15:53

oh thank you thank you

I should keep it on another thread for me being dull about pregnancy though I think

erm I already have a bit of a tummy lately I think, I don't reckon I am going to be able to look not pregnant by Christmas. I will also have gone up about 3 bra sizes if last time is anything to go by.

OP posts:
Tatties · 30/10/2007 15:58

I'll join you on another thread then

Oh Franny I forgot this

Aww you will have an extra special anniversary this year

Tatties · 30/10/2007 16:13

Oh and what a fab title btw

(I am also swooning at your suggestions on the last thread lionheart)

lionheart · 30/10/2007 16:58

It was DP, Tatties, he's a huge Smiths/Morrissey fan.

FrayedKnot · 30/10/2007 17:07

Hello

Boco it sounds terrible having both poor DD's ill again...tonsillitis that bad is quite horrid. Hope DD2 is perhaps over the worst and you have had a chance to rest if they are both flopping about.

Franny is there anyway you can have your scan earlier - plead you are going to be away for ages until mid-feb or something? Will you not be 12 weeks by then?

I was awol last night because DH decided to have one of his big melt down conversations, brought on by the upset at work last week, I think, and he is really tense and in that "going down the garden to eat worms" type mood. You know the kind of "this is everything that is wrong in our relationship" type convos where nothing actualy gets solved It did finish on an OK note though.

Anyway DS and I have had a lovely afternoon at the park which was full of sun and coppery trees, and I've been good on the f&v front, yesterday & today, especially veg.

ghoulmoonfiend · 30/10/2007 17:48

diving in just to keep up with thread as i am very busy this week

I will find time to upload my photos soon as in addition to the puppypoo cake, I have thrilling and amusing pumpkin pix to share....
