For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh Franny i'm so pleased and excited for you. How many weeks are you? I also guessed you were trying by the onlys conversation.

FunkyGlassSlipupandyouredead · 29/10/2007 11:19

Franny - you know it is normal to be anxious. I am sure everything will be fine. Go and eat a banana or something

MrScarRot · 29/10/2007 11:21

Mean? Don't be silly, of course it will be fine, but fretting is normal, everyone does it. Try to relax. There there.

MrScarRot · 29/10/2007 11:22

Boco - Yes, it is strange being back on here after meeting. I have a sore throat today, did I talk too much? I feel like we had 30 conversations and didn't quite finish any of them, which must be a good sign I think , that you have lots more to say to someone.

How sweet of your DD. I couldn't resist telling DD that and she looked like she would burst. She actually said she was the quietest person she'd ever met, coincidently, and I said sometimes people were shy at first, but no, apparently she was quiet the whole time. I said did you have fun - Oh YES, she replied, when can I go there? One of us will have to learn to drive you know

DD has a friend coming today and I am decidedly less enthusiastic about it. She says things like, 'I'll go home if you don't play it my way', and when they draw she quietly glares and says 'don't copy me' and DD looks at me a little bit embarrassed. I have mentioned this at the parents evening and the teacher said she had noticed certain controlling behaviours and was monitoring it. I wish we could just say don't be friends with them but we can't.

MrScarRot · 29/10/2007 11:28

Of course, tecnically I can drive, having passed my test years ago, I just don't.

Bocoreepy · 29/10/2007 11:29

We come to Norwich quite often - maybe one day we could get our dps to keep children and we could go to pulse or somewhere for lunch and finish all 30 of our nearly finished but not quite conversations? Imagine how much we could cover!

DD does warm up eventually - she can actually be quite bossy on home turf. Shame about the visiting friend, do glaring.

MrScarRot · 29/10/2007 11:33

Oh yes, I love Pulse. I always order too much food and there isn't any room on the table. We can have too much food and too many conversations and it will be great.

Bocoreepy · 29/10/2007 11:41

Hooray! I want to go now! I'll have the chickpea burger with mashed avocado and onion rings please.

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 29/10/2007 11:41

Can I join in again? (I was here, briefly, a few months ago when I was CheesyFeet)

I need to sort my health out

I am on a weight loss thread, a citalopram thread and I need vegetables in my life again

I do eat plenty of f&v, just plenty of everything else as well. I need to replace the crappy snacks with blueberries or summat.

IdrisTheDragon · 29/10/2007 11:53

Hello Tiger Feet (are we both on the same citalopram thread?)

I also eat too many of other things but am at least increasing the fruit and vegetables .

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 29/10/2007 12:01

Hi Idris - yes we are

Haven't posted for a few days though

I'm going to the shops at lunchtime to get out of the office, i am buying a large bowl and loads of stuff to put in it - in the hope that it will stop me scoffing the ever present office biccies and sweets

IdrisTheDragon · 29/10/2007 12:17

I also am going to the shops to get some sunlight in me at lunchtime. Also have a problem with ever present office sweets and biscuits (although there are also baskets of fruit, which is much better).

Right, I am going out now .

SauerKraut · 29/10/2007 12:18

Fantastic news, Franny!

Bocoreepy · 29/10/2007 12:18

Hello Tigerfeet. I wrote hello oozing first of all and then deleted it. Come and join us

DD2 (2.9) came home from preschool today with a little report and i have fruity pride, let me share...

'Today we had been looking at likes and dislikes. We looked at different fruits to see which ones we liked. DD2 enjoyed cutting up and then tasting the strawberries, raspberries, melon and plums. DD2 knew all the fruits we had and was the only child to know all of them including the kiwi. Well done'

FrannyandZooey · 29/10/2007 12:28

oh I think small Boco needs a badge for that

Boco, erm, I am 4 weeks + 1 day

I shouldn't really be telling anyone should I?

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 29/10/2007 12:29

welcome back TigerFeet and everyone

I am eating a big bowl of stew with kidney beans, mushrooms, carrots, leeks and tomatoes. And granary bread and butter. Yes 100 please please DO make up a diet for me and encourage me and stuff.

OP posts:
womblingalong · 29/10/2007 13:04

Ohh I was so excited when I saw your thread, and have not stpped grinning since I read the news!

Franny, you must go and get some proper folic acid for the first few weeks . Also what about omega 3 supplement, or is your diet already rich in this?

Little Boco - well done on the fruity recognition, have a juicy pear.

Please join us Tigerfeet, the more the merrier.

Bocoreepy · 29/10/2007 13:08

I always told EVERYONe as soon as i found out franny. Imagine the pressure of trying to keep it a secret for another 2 months - surely you'd explode in a fruity shower! I think it's ok to say - because it will be fine, but if it wasn't , which it will be, you actually need the support so it's good that people know.

It is SO exciting. I want to be a fruity aunt too.

OozingSlashesFromTigerFeet · 29/10/2007 13:11

Well done MiniBoco! Not sure that dd knows what some fruit is called, but when asked what her favourite food was she said "apple"

She had four apples yesterday - probably too many for a 3yo but we have some lovely ones atm and she couldn't get enough. I rather suspect she will be a cider drinker when she is a teenager [nervous]

4+1 Franny! This will be the longest MN pregnancy ever! I can recommend early July babies though - dd was born on 2nd July and the short nights/long days were just so much nicer. 5am feeds don't seem to bad when it's daylight.

womblingalong · 29/10/2007 13:12

This little Franny or Zooey is going to have a gaggle of fruity aunts. (Wombling joins aunt queue).

Please don't worry about telling us early, it will be fine, and if not, then we are here for you, as Boco said. The last thing you should be worrying about is stopping us bouncing!

Are you trying to rest and conserve energy? If I remember correctly, I was exhausted for the first trimester, both times!

MegaLegs · 29/10/2007 13:14

Yay - fab news Franny. The couple we were at school with who have been together since 4th year (R and P)are having number 3 end of June.

Sorry about not being very good at this 10/10 thing. I am eating lot's but don't get on the thread much and by the time I've read it to catch up it's even longer and I have to go do something domestic or child orientated.

I will try and do better.

TooTicky · 29/10/2007 13:34

Franny, I keep thinking of you and having smiley thoughts.

SK, where have you been?!

There is a lot of shouting here. Ds2 is very emotional and keeps throwing things. Dd1 and ds1 have been arguing over how papyrus is made. Ds1 has been winding ds2 up - pitifully easy atm.

I have been delivering and collecting Betterware catalogues [mixed feelings]
