For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Boco, I'm so gutted for you about the photos. I hope you can get them back.

Wombling, I wouldn't worry too much about equipment. I should think MIL is a little boggled by the amount of stuff we all use 'nowadays' and will be perfectly able to come up with alternatives if you forget anything. Although I suspect your angst is more about the whole going-back-to-work thing and the stuff is just something to focus your panic on? That would be me anyway!! Hope it all goes ok for you

I use bleach but only very sparingly and only in the toilet.

TigerFeet · 04/11/2007 18:35

Oh Boco how shit about the photos, your dh sounds very much like mine (I know what I am doing ) we are currently going through this with our car, he will not admit defeat and take it to the bloody garage [fume]

We lost all our honeymoon pics when our old pc went bang . Never got them back. I am still gutted years later.

Lots and lots of pumpkin being eaten here, we had a mahoosive one that didn't get halloweened so it is now soup - it's really tasty even though I put a smidge too much rosemary in it.

Lullaby - your party sound fab - bet you were much in need of a glass of wine by the end of the day though.

Roast veg for tea - with pumpkin, butternut squash, sweet potato, cherry tomato, peppers, mushrooms and whatever else was lurking at the back of the fridge.

Ecover is dodgy? using ecover products was one of my few halo moments. What's wrong with them? What can one use instead?

FrannyandZooey · 04/11/2007 18:38

Boco is it helping making suggestions? Or just annoying...dp says get a specialist firm onto it - he does not suggest where you should find the money to do this

Boco, how awful re the photos.
Ours once went loopy na dwe lsot loads, and ha dot ask people to email them to us. We were lucky that lost of people made discs for us, and we got most back.

I nagged dh last month about backing up, as I work from our home PC and if everyhting went, I'd be stuck. So he installed osmething that does it every day, or every week, or somehting.

Not as much f&v going on here today.
But we did visit my good friend whi is preggers and due in february ans has the most amazing bump I have ever seen!
We put the world to rights over choc cookies fruit.
And lots of coffee.

We have had such thick fog here today. It only seemed to clear for a bit this afternoon, then when we came home it was terrible.

FrayedKnot · 04/11/2007 19:44

Hi, back from fireworks. They were good, and there were fire eaters and dancers, and jousting with real horses which was very scary. DS loved it all.

Boco that's absolutely gutting, I do agree whatever it takes I think you must find someone quickly who might be able to help you

I have an old workmate in Norwich who is a graphic artist & works with macs, perhaps they will know someone. Will e-mail them if it might help?

Not that it helps you at all but about a year ago I read about cd-roms not being suitable for storing photos for ever, in fact the best way to ensure you don;t lose them eventually apparently si to print them out. However, I pleaded with DH to get an external hard drive which we now store ours on and also back up onto CD, and one day I will get round to properly printing a selection out as well.

It would be heartbreaking if they are lost, I'm so sorry, hope there is something you can do.

Wombling sorry to hear you feel panicky about going back to work..it's a pretty horrible time I think, but like anything you are dreading, once you actually get into it, most of your fears fade away pretty quickly. It's that dreadful anticipation and fret that builds up that is so awful. I have already confessed I am not a lentil weaver so don;t worry. I have tendencies in certain directions but in others I hav no credentials whatsoever, which probably means I am going to be first up for excommunication after you all meet me

LL, you are truly superwoman, now go and have an early night!

I've eaten a cheese & onion pasty, awful chips and a muffin, so I feel the need to mainline apple compote now to set things right.

Boco · 04/11/2007 20:05

Thank you for the suggestions. He's done something all day with this piece of software he's bought from the internet, a file recovery thing - but says he now needs an external hard drive to see if it's worked. He's going to get one tomorrow i think (this is the problem with not speaking - it's all guessing and glancing over shoulders) So, there is some hope anyway.

I had the most un 10/10 day i think i've ever had yesterday, ate food that i'd never normally eat. I think it was a reaction to thinking that i'd never have internet access again and would be stranded in real life. I had crisps and goldbars and tea was a hotdog at the fireworks that was so vile i had to wash it down with a pound of pic'n'mix.

Today though i'm remorseful and detoxing.
I've had 2 papayas, 4 kiwis, raspberries, grapes, apples, a banana, peas, beans, tomatoes, lettuce. And made smoothie - but actually the smoothie was awful and no one would drink it.

FrannyandZooey · 04/11/2007 20:43

sorry for everyone having a difficult time

to take your minds off it please send me titles for tomorrow - firework themed ones especially welcome

Boco · 04/11/2007 20:55

Pumkin up, while your feet are stompin',and the jam is pumpkin, look at here the crowd is jumpin', pumpkin up a little more, get the party going on the dance floor.

or maybe just

Pumpkin up, a little more get the party goin on the dance floor.

Tatties · 04/11/2007 21:00

God Franny can you believe it was a year ago that you were FrannyonFire?! I was listening to Strangeways Here We Come last night and can't believe that I never said, "I grabbed you by the guilded beans" in response to this title

Boco I asked dp but he didn't come up with anything tht you're not already doing. I will keep my fingers crossed that the hard drive works tomorrow

MrsCellophane · 04/11/2007 21:01

Just come in to say how much I like your thread title! Makes me smile every time I see it.

FrannyandZooey · 04/11/2007 21:02

oh god was I frannyonfire? No wonder I can't find a good name this year, it's the pressure

OP posts:
BBBee · 04/11/2007 21:27

along these lines...

"FFS Franny - don't eat it - it is not that kind of rocket - BOOM!"

"Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone"

pinkspottywellies · 04/11/2007 21:28

I made the cake! I did chocolate orange in the end. I think it's going to be a bit stodgy by tomorrow but would have been delicious stright out of the tin I'll let you know how it tastes Thanks for all your help Franny and TooT

Went to bonfire party last night and had hotdogs and soup (leek and potato) then today just ate toast until about 4 o'clock but I had peas, asparagus and lentil and butternut dhal for dinner so probably 4 portions.

Going for phase I of dd's birthday celebrations tomorrow! (yes she's only 1 but there are at least 4 phases! tomorrow is the NCT group - all the babies are within 4 weeks of each other)

Can't believe how soon the meet up is now !

pinkspottywellies · 04/11/2007 21:29

"FFS Franny - don't eat it - it is not that kind of rocket - BOOM!"
This one gets my vote!!!!!

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 21:35

I like a contracted version of that - maybe, "Franny - don't eat the rocket" or something

Boco - how awful, so sorry. Dh said something about it depending on whether it was deleted or formatted but I don't know what means really. DD has pinned a firework picture to her fairy clip.

FrannyandZooey · 04/11/2007 21:38

LOL keep playing with it and give me your final verdict for the morning pls

OP posts:
Boco · 04/11/2007 21:38

What was that guns n roses song about a rocket queen, something something honey you're a bit obscene...

MrsC how was dds birthday? Did the package arrive - i sent it before i got your postcode so hope it arrived. How are your bosoms?

Tatties · 04/11/2007 21:43

What about Bangers and something?

TooTicky · 04/11/2007 21:45

Right, many many hours ago I was going to link to this miracle cleaner. You only need to use it sparingly and it lasts AAAAggeess.

Ecover have a 5 year rolling cut-off date for animal testing. Which means that in 5 years time they will use ingredients that are being tested on animals now. Environmentally I think they're pretty spotless.
HOWEVER, I prefer Clearspring for laundry and washing up. Bio-D good also, but Clearspring better.

Have been to a village firework display in incredible fog, driving v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y. At one point, even the fireworks were obscured by fog!

Boco - I am hoping so much that you can save your precious photos!

Boco · 04/11/2007 21:49

Gosh it's expensive though - £8.99 for surface cleaner seems so much - and presumably you'd pay for postage and packing on top?.

I use ecover, but heard recently that 'Simply' are supposed to be better, but not found anywhere that stocks it yet.

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 21:50

Boco - yes it arrived otherwise how would she clip her firework picture to it? She loved it and was amazed by your DD's colouring skills, went on about it for AGES. Thank you. I posted just after it arrived yesterday, maybe you didn't see it if you've been off?

Toot - I've e-mailed you

TooTicky · 04/11/2007 21:50

But it really does last long enough to make it considerably cheaper than other products.

Boco · 04/11/2007 21:54

Oh good - and she drew it all by herself too, she did several practice mermaids and then meticulously drew it out. Took hours, she's funny.

I haven't had any internet until this afternoon. I decided the break would mean i'd be more sensible and limit myself a bit more. It's working a treat.

TooTicky · 04/11/2007 21:57

I have just replied MrsC

MrsCarrot · 04/11/2007 22:01

It hasn't arrived, Toot, and nor did the second one yesterday?

Boco - she loved it, was the only thing that came in the post for her so it was wonderful.
