For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Lol at all the feline fungi batting eyes at each other across damp recesses.

Speaking of damp - I have yeast overload. It started with a plum frangipane and enDed a week later with me stuffing that white bread and marmite. I feel fronds of candida webbing out from my stomach and it made me a little unwell. Two days of brown rice and I feel much more sprightly. Why did I do it? It was like being taken over by something, Walking Very Slowly to get a loaf of bread for me to stuff DH.

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 11:29

oh blimey, what a vivid description MrsC

you can tell you are writing more these days

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 19/10/2007 11:43

Hmm, not writing much really, sort of sorting stuff out which I guess is part of the process, clearing out, making space. I am going to collect my prize today, a signed book of some kind, maybe it will be inspiring. Sone friends would like me to be involved with writing a play to air on a local radio. It sounds fun but I am very non commital atm, I say 'I'll get back to you' quite a lot.

I am going to town in a minute to but A Lot Of fruit and veg. It's really sunny. Hooray.

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 11:55

can fronds of candida webbing out from your stomach be made to go in a play?

crikey i am not sure if I would go to see it

MrsCarrot · 19/10/2007 12:05

ha, yes, I suppose that was a grim image. My poor rl friends have had it the worst though. I made someone wince on the way to school but I won't share here with certain sensibilites.

I must e-mail you, Franny, regarding the deposit. Am I last? Sorry for the delay.

TooTicky · 19/10/2007 12:12

Avi, I am desperately jealous of all your beautiful beachy birds. I have a particular fondness for oystercatchers. And turnstones look so wonderfully furtive.

My mother would understand utterly about shortness of money but may feel hurt by our actually receiving a cooker from somebody else. Understandably really, as it was a lovely magnanimous gesture that was scuppered by the bank. Oh, maybe dishonsety is the best policy, but I am rather that Franny thinks so too. I am rather in awe of her perspicocity or perspicacity or perspicatiousness or something, and the way she combines it (correctly spelt) with tact and propriety.

This is only a small break from the dalek. It is the last day of school so anything I don't manage today will have to be in ther dead of night.

Oh, and where can I get some decent facepaints in a hurry? Ds1 and dd1 have offered to do it at ds2's party and we have mentioned it on the invitations but all I can find locally is chemical-laden. Help!

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 12:28

TooT I think I must be an awful old fraud then because I am quite deceitful if it suits me

I will usually know what the RIGHT thing to do it but not always do it

am trying hard, though

my latest resolution is NOT to talk about people behind their backs, especially amongst my mother and sisters

I am going to refuse to discuss what another person has done unless they are sitting there in the room. I am sick of all the backstabbing and the lies and manipulation

I don't think your lie is for anything except saving another person's feelings, is it? I mean you aren't hoping to get anything from her or make her think you are better than you are, or anything like that

TooTicky · 19/10/2007 12:31

I suppose so. I will probably look shifty though and she will suspect far worse and dreadfully complicated scenarios.

lionheart · 19/10/2007 12:43

I would tell the white lie.

I am in denial because I am off to Devon tomorrow (caravan next to surfy beach)

and I haven't packed and it's not really my thing at all.

I am tring to muster my inner prefect and rouse myself for this

but she is welll-hidden (probably skulking behind the bike shed having a fag or worse).

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2007 16:19

Afternoon everyone

DS was up early again.

Luckily I managed to lie on the sofa and shut my eyes for 10 minutes earlier, and only needed to answer two questions in that time. And got away with the kind of answer that usually won;t do.

Then we went to the farm shop and I have ordered my veg box at last. Have bought enormous quantities of lovely stuff. DS was fascinated with the squash and we had to buy one of each sort

I have a carrot which is 23cm long with a girth of 19cm and it is making me feel very peculiar

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2007 16:20

C'mon Zippi, spill a bit more

3andnogore · 19/10/2007 16:25

I didn't have time fo rdinner yesterday.

But today I have had soem breakfast (not F&V!)
Some grapes, and a pear.
Lunch - pumpkin and pepper soup, very nice and warming. it's that time of the year I think.
Then some strawberries.
And some macadamias and dried cranberries.

Not too bad, htough I omitted the less desirous parts of the day!

Out for dinner tonight with friends. Italina. Yum.

Am I good enough to stay for a while?

fullmoonfiend · 19/10/2007 17:04

where are closet lesbians? Who are closet lesbians. Is spagehtti squash some sort of covert code for lesbians? Do they fob each other with large marrows? Either I'm not reading this thread properly or there is some other thread involving vegetables and lesbians which I am not privvy to...

Thanks, TT, and so will your dalek be!
By the way, I would definitely tell a feelings- sparing white lie too, and mentally re-allocate the funds so it didn't seem like one, if you know what I mean.
LL, your nursery sounds great!
I have had borlotti beans, brown rice, grated yellow carrot and spinach salad, an apple, loads of dates and litres of ginger, lemon and orange tea with cinnamon, cloves and cardamom, and if that lot doesn't chase the flu away I'll go back to living on coffee and custard creams!

TooTicky · 19/10/2007 17:19

I've always wanted to try spaghetti squash. Will have to grow some next year I think.
