For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I shall put on the KGB hat which Dh brought me back from Russia. That should do the job.

SauerKraut · 19/10/2007 18:59

It should also mask the racket being made by dds1 and 2 high-kicking their trousers off to the tune of the chimney sweep dance from Mary Poppins. Just they wait until the next time they have earache, I shall play my trombone concertos at full volume in revenge.

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 19:02

I am sorry, earache is so horrid. I hope the garlic helps

FrayedKnot · 19/10/2007 19:39

Ooh Boco I want to see your hair (not that I saw it before tho)

SK earache is dreadful, hope the garlic does work.

I tried to make crepes tonight but I used gluten free flour, and they just totally didn't work. In the end I shoved some broccoli, beans and ham into a casserole dish, poured over my separated cheese sauce (again, gluten free flour) and shoved it in the oven, and made sort of yorkshire puddings out of the crepe batter.

It was pretty revolting

Sorry about the carrot, I have recovered

pinkspottywellies · 19/10/2007 19:57

I feel all fluey. I don't do ill.

Had raisins, apple, juice, peach, tomato, veg soup (with chicken in ), tonight's effort is mushroom, onion and beansprouts amounting to 1 portion in the chinese takeaway dh has just shuffled down the road for.

TooTicky · 19/10/2007 20:23

Have just had quinoa pilaff with onion, garlic, carrot, broccoli and lentils. It was v. yum.

Ds1 bought himself a large cake from the post office to celebrate half term. I fear for his innards. It is homemade but very rich I think.
And in response, dd1 cycled up and bought herself a very artificial looking swiss roll. She is not being vegan today.

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 20:23

Pink! where have you been?

chin up, everyone

Any chance you could get some echinacea, pink? Is it a coldy flu or a fluey flu? Poor you.

I forgot it was bootcamp.

Blueberries 1
Grapes 1
Strawberries 1
Figs 1
Leftover lentil shepherd's pie for lunch 2?
Bean / broccoli bake 1?
Rocket 1

Copious amounts of blueberry & chocolate brownie (needs finishing)

Exercise nil.

I think the FK family need to join the gym.. This weekend.

ahundredtimes · 19/10/2007 20:42

Hurrah. Half term. ds2 gone for a sleep over. Very excited and pleased. We went out for dinner. Was like having perfect children sitting at the table being fun, very interesting. I think if I remove any one of them, then the other two sit up straight and adore the attention. Is odd.

Ooooh. And friends from London were in town, and came round quickly before getting the train back and they were very thoughtful and lovely and brought their own lunch except he ate ALL his but she shared with me. Which was very nice. Was nut loaf and lentils and salad and all sorts of 10/10 things. I thought of you all whilst eating.

Went and talked to ds2's teacher. We made up, I thought she was going to hug me, but thankfully she didn't.

Want to see Boco's hair too.

TooTicky · 19/10/2007 20:54

Boco. Hair.

Franny. The hall. What did you do? I like the idea of you all sharing the space. Could be the start of some ingenious devised theatre.

FrannyandZooey · 19/10/2007 21:16

Oh it would be dreadful, really - it couldn't work at all. Well I ranted, a LOT, then I phoned my friend who works at the college and asked him to see if he could speak to anyone. He was very helpful but could not get hold of the right person. So gave me the number of the bookings sec (who hall hire twat specifically said was NOT to be contacted ) to use if all else fails.

When I got to the hall, nobody there, which was kind of worse really, because presumably they have just booked it for occasional use, which means that any week, without any warning, they COULD turn up and be in the hall. Probably when I have forgotten all about it. And I will be on tenterhooks until then every week worrying that this week will be the week. And if I was a teacher and I had 20 drama students working in a hall and some mad woman with messy hair and a 4 y o turned up halfway through saying "actually, I have booked the hall before you, only the hall hire twat is too scared to tell you", I don't think I would be much inclined to a) believe her and b) get out of her way
