For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Denizens is a very good scr8**0e word.

MrsCarrot · 17/10/2007 16:16

Have you really NEVER eaten a fishfinger, LL? I don't view them that badly, crap food yes, but nothing like a dodgy sausage or twizzler. My children love good food and rarely have the childrens menu in a restaurant but I'm quite happy for them to eat chips now and then. Just out of interest, what will you do when it comes to friends parties and things when he's older, not a home one where he can choose grapes, houmous and a cheese sandwich, but the ones where the fishfinger option is the best one? I know some people who always 'lose' those invites. Do you think you will be like that? I have to say I often lose the ones that are annoying to get to or take up a whole Sunday in those horrible indoor activity centres.

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 18:01

Oh my lovelies I have got something quite extraordinary to show you when I can find my camera

TooT I got a parcel

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 18:52

I am going to ruddy treasure this for ever

isn't it brilliant? it's got broccoli and turnips and all sorts

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 18:54

Right is everyone ready for bootcamp tomorrow? I was going to start early and go to the gym but my throat is sore and I feel very cold. I have had lentil shepherds pie with mashed sweet potato, red cabbage and sweetcorn. It was so tasty. I think that makes at least 10 portions, maybe more - am going to eat some more pears as well now and a satsuma

fullmoonfiend · 17/10/2007 18:56

Toot you are a blardy genius! Quite the most splendid thing !!

I am going to have t have some wine tonight. Have just had another utterly depressing parents' eveing

lionheart · 17/10/2007 19:00

That is very cool indeed.

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 19:03

What's up FMF? Shall we come and sort the teachers out?

fullmoonfiend · 17/10/2007 19:09

ah well actually, it's not the teacher being unfair, it's the truth. My ds (my little hero who came to London and is a very special child) is absolutely not designed for school environment and short of neuro-linguistic Programming, and a complete personality transplant, is never likely to be.

I used every weapon in my considerable artillary of listening skills, How to talk so Kids will listen-ess etc and ds will not accept any responisbility for any of his actions. The whole world is wrong and he is right. I cannot help him. No-one can but himself.

TooTicky · 17/10/2007 19:15

It was all dp's work. I can't take any credit.

Fmf, that sounds exhausting and sort of familiar.

littlerach · 17/10/2007 19:18

I was going to ask if you'd let me join you all.
But the thought of bootcamp...

Maybe another day?!

MegaLegs · 17/10/2007 19:19

Tell me more about the boot camp. I am meant to be painting family room so I must get on.

First day as a 10/10 have eaten pear, oranges x2, carrot and cucumber sticks, tabuolleh salad and bean salad, apple, dried mango and sweet corn on the cob.

Does painting a ceiling quite fast count towards exercise? If yes then I think I've done it.

Possum - ah don't feel bad about having a whinge, we all have good and bad days, I've just been having a few bad ones. GDD is Global developmental delay, so although DS4 is 2.4 he has a developmental age of about 18 months. (Talk of the devil, someone, who is meant to be in bed is shouting "Guk" and chucking books downstairs!!)

fullmoonfiend · 17/10/2007 19:30

Franny gets all strict with us

and beats us with wet celery and leeks until we submit to her regime..

Yay!!!

Habbibu · 17/10/2007 19:39

OK - couscous salad with courgette, green beans and pak choi (and chicken...) for dinner. Am off to have some fruit soon. I do believe I will make it to 10 today.

Off to wrap habbibi's presents. Can't believe it's a year!

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 19:55

Littlerach don't be a big girl's blouse Join us if you want to

FMF Megalegs remembers me as a gawky 17 year old - she is not going to be afeared of the idea of me being strict with her

Erm, bootcamp. Well, instead of being all nicey nicey and talking about daleks and smiling indulgently on the brie-eaters, we get down to serious business, and everybody has to account for themselves and eat their 10 every day AND do exercise.

FMF school thing sounds exhausting.

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 19:56

Habbibu I also love the words habbibu and habbibi! Hope she has a lovely day

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 19:56

I wish 100 would come back and tell us how her most recent birthday was

IdrisTheDragon · 17/10/2007 20:03

Hello

FrayedKnot · 17/10/2007 20:04

Bootcamp! I'm ready!

Pulls on BFOBs

Today I have baked! Flapjacks and blueberry & chocolate brownies.

I'm not sure these are great things to have in the house when starting bootcamp though. DS isn;t eating much and DH is away.

I have eaten 7 today...not including the blueberries in the large quantity of brownie

MegaLegs · 17/10/2007 20:05

Franny you were never gawky - for a friend of my little sis I always thought you were pretty cool.

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 20:08

LOL bloody hell Megalegs I spent my entire school career being the nerdy skinny girl

you were obviously operating in some alternate universe

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 20:10

Megalegs is buttering me up to get preferential treatment during the bootcamp, isn't she?

FK, you had better finish them all off tonight as I will be doing spot checks tomorrow

Idris are you ready? Are you taking fruit in with you tomorrow?

pinkspottywellies · 17/10/2007 20:11

Oh no! Is it bootcamp?!

I picked nearly a pound of blackberries yesterday so I'm freezing them with apples for crumble. (Not before eating a few and dd loves them!)

Haven't eaten much today but made spag bol with loads of onion, mushrooms and peppers and tomato sauce to freeze.

Haven't caught up for a few days. Anything I need to know?!

FrayedKnot · 17/10/2007 20:12

That's 7 portions of F&V not 7 portions of Brownie.

Boco, which town is it you wander round? I think I used to wander round the same maybe when DS was smaller? It's just that Boots reminds me there isn't much else there

lots of charity shops, a nice health food shop and greengrocer, and big lake?

It's a shame I don;t live in that area anymore or I could come and take you out of the village occasionally.

FrannyandZooey · 17/10/2007 20:13

Bootcamp tomorrow PSW - are you ready?

You missed a lot of excitement about hedges
