For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

10/10 is a warm bosom isn't it? I like the fact that people come on this thread to look for people too. Like this is 'home'

I have thread title ideas and Franny I need to email you but I think I must go to bed now. Ds has been restless and when he woke earlier I didn't hear him straight away and he was quite upset. I am SO looking forward to a time when my child sleeps well.

Oh and Franny I finally got Pobby and Dingan from the library!

Yes sometimes I have let him nap late - he tends to sleep longer than he would than if he'd napped earlier, and then he isn't tired enough to go to bed until 9ish usually. I need him in bed earlier than that! I think he is working towards dropping the nap but he's not quite there yet...

Yes the no-nap days are awful by tea time. Ds is just not himself. It's so frustrating for me because I can see that he needs to nap, but he just WON'T!

TooTicky · 17/10/2007 00:31

Dd2 is still up.

Morning veggers

I am working today and dp has the pc but everyone should be buying f+v and making plans for exercise and meals and stuff.

I've had an apple and a pear and 2 kiwis and raisins - 4

Where is Bee? Did I piss her off with my bean salad suggetions? Bee we love you even if you eat brie all day

Hope all have a good day
xxxx

Habbibu · 17/10/2007 09:10

Morning .

Have had handful of raisins in my porridge, and a banana. 2 down...

GibbonInABloodSoakedRibbon · 17/10/2007 09:14

My cold is still rotten so I am not in the slightest bit hungry...am still going to buy copious amounts of F&V today so that I'll at least look virtuous.

Boco · 17/10/2007 09:18

I really miss Bee. She emailed yesterday, she was in a library and busy.

I don't know what to do today. My mum is taking dd2 to her house for the day. I have work to do, i could do work, and probably spend time arsing about on mn and corrupting toots with mucky ways. But i've not left the village for days and i'm feeling in need of seeing cars and main roads and shops and people. So, i could also go to my mums, where i'll mope about and bicker with her a bit, and then wander into town and stare at things in Boots.

I asked dd2 what i should do and she said 'clean the house'.

Lullabyloo · 17/10/2007 10:11

Ds & I have had brown rice & buckwheat pancakes with raspberries, blackberries & blueberries in warm pear sauce.

Pot of red lentil, onion, garlic, celery, ginger, sweet potato, carrot etc soup brewing away nicely for lunch

I miss Beeeeeeeeeeeeeee too

sorry you are feeling so rotten Gibbon....lots of manuka honey, ginger & lemon drinks & copious amounts of very oniony, garlicky soup

SauerKraut · 17/10/2007 10:15

Lullaby, do you mind if I ask where you get your ideas/recipes from? I ask because I am in a complete cookery rut at the moment, and my dcs would eat most of what you describe.

GibbonInABloodSoakedRibbon · 17/10/2007 10:38

Lully is domestic godess

Thanks for the tips Lully, thinking of you tons

SauerKraut · 17/10/2007 10:47

I know! I think a lot of people would love to go and camp out at her house!

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 17/10/2007 11:21

Megalegs, welcome, I feel very small having a whinge yesterday when i read what you have to cope with. What is GDD, if I may ask? Your DCs are beautiful, that photo of you and your firstborn makes me well up, it's so snuggly and lovely.
Habbibu, welcome too, your name sounds Arabic?

LL, DS has a cold so I ate an onion and garlic soup yesterday to help him via breast milk and when he plugged on this morning, he shot off the boob again and looked at me as if to say, "Holy Cow mother, what was THAT?" Onion-Garlic latte anyone?

DH came home last night to find me with potato and leek in eyebrows, every pan in the house used and vats of soups awaiting freezing. Am determined to become uber mummy who Will Not Crack Up. In pursuit of this aim I am hunting down a good cleaning lady, stalking her in the shrubbery and assessing her hoovering three point turns through the neighbour's windows.

Lullabyloo · 17/10/2007 11:23

lol.........everyone always welcome
food and hot baths always available

Sauerkraut.....I guess I gleened a good basic knowledge from my macrobiotic grandmother ...so soups etc I just sling together...but I love the Wholefood book by Jude Blereau....& also have a scrapbook type thing full of favourite recipes.

Ds & I had supper at Carluccio's last night as I was glum & wet & cold..had a mountain of groceries from the organic shop to lug all the way home & ds is always attracted by the candlelit tables & displays of gourds.(my excuse)
It was lovely,ds was lovely...he flirted madly with the waitressess & had them making up a dip for his grissini & veg sticks to go with his pasta...they stared incredulously as he munched his way through a mound of pepper, celery, carrots etc as if they'd never seen a child eat a vegetable
They asked if he was going to be a chef when he grew up.....err no says ds....I'm going to be a train driver....but I might make soup while I'm driving it

PossumIsMunchingPumpkins · 17/10/2007 11:25

LL, what is macrobiotic food?

Lullabyloo · 17/10/2007 11:26

we seem to have an ad for fish fingers floating about on the right....

SauerKraut · 17/10/2007 11:28

Thanks, LL. LOL at your café experience!
