For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

well I am crap at fruit and vegetables. Everyone is nice and my neck hurts a lot but I have VERY STRONG painkillers which make me woosy.

I can't get a hire car yet because mine is still being assessed and apparently ypu only get a hire car when yours is in the garage or they write it off and give you the money. So lots of annoying trains and delays for me at the minute!

BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:14

PSW

sweetcorn in fish pie = 1 portion

are you sure?

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:16

Bee leave PSW alone. Just because she ate some f+v and you didn't .

What a nuisance about the car. That is pretty crap of them I think. How strong are the painkillers? Are they nice?

Welcome back SK

BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:20

30mg co-codomol. Very nice.

I ate 2 bananas actually and given my student status that is very veyr good.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:21

yes well done

well done everyone

BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:21

okay franny = F&V my diet for me.

I leave the house at 5.30 with just a coffee so any stuff I am taking with me needs to be either made the night before or grabbed. All needs to be portable.

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:28

I put a whole tin in and dh and I had half each. So yes one portion of sweetcorn in fish pie and it was very nice too

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:29

Dried fruit
banana
apple
pot with good portion hummus in, and cut up carrots and peppers and cucumber in another pot

that would make about 5 just in snacks

you could have a bean salad for lunch

carton or flask of fruit juice

what do you normally do about lunch and dinner then?

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:29

god I love sweetcorn

it feels so childish to love it but I do

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:31

BBB did you see Nigella Express the other night? You can throw together a quick smoothie together with a frozen banana quicker than well anything

How about a bought smoothie? and dried fruit would be easy to grab and run. Franny's sugar free banana bread (the recipe for which is spreading like wildfire around my friends and thier friends and family!)

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:34

I like jacket potato with sweetcorn and mayo.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:35

take a tin of sweetcorn and eat it with a spoon

or just fill your pockets with sweetcorn

that is what I plan to do when I am an old lady. I will sit on buses and scare people.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 22:35

(psw me too me too )

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:40
BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:40

will try harder (must try harder.)

okay - this was today - it is bad.

coffee and chocolate crossiant
'low fat' pasta salad from sainsburys
brie baguette
wispa
noodles and stir fried vegetables (kind of not homemade)

so answer is fill pockets with fruit and humpous and sweeetcorn?

BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:41

I am disturbed at your DP being 'mr pink'

BBBee · 10/10/2007 22:41

have to go and microwave mooncup.

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:42

Oh Joy that Wispa's have come back
I looked and looked for them then discovered that they were gone

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 22:42

I thought he would be disturbed too but he said it's ok because it's in Resevoir Dogs.

Boco · 10/10/2007 23:07

Hey franny that thread is funny - just found out that Imaginary friend studied art with dp, how exciting!

The scroll bit on my computer is now broken, it's gone grey, and doesn't move properly. My computer is flaking out.

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2007 09:45

Oh wow Boco! I have not heard back from the person I know yet and am in a state of anticipation about it. Her family were very nice and I was good friends with her sister at school. She may not know who the hell I am of course.

Bee that was a bit poor wasn't it? Brie and coffee featuring highly; are you turning into 100? I find almost all food you buy out of the house has crap f+v content even if it is called salad. With the exception perhaps of that ready prepared fruit salad type stuff. Where are you buying these things from? What are the alternatives? I think you may have to do a packed lunch, you know. We could maybe get the mad lunch box lady to make it for you?

womblingalong · 11/10/2007 09:52

Hello all,

Shock - Wombling went out last night , and is going out again tomorrow!

Went out for dinner with a couple of friends, one of whom is due with twins any minute now. I am v excited, she is having a girl and a boy, and already has a DD, can't wait to snuggle a tiny one again.

It was a weird tapas type retaurant, but with odd tapas, like risotto and fish and chips. Food was ok, but dessert was ace, heart shaped waffles with strawberries and cream, yum!

Have had blueberries & porridge and OJ so far.

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2007 09:54

wombling - you dirty stop out sounds lovely

I have had apples, pears (2 of each, shared with ds), grapes, raisins

womblingalong · 11/10/2007 09:55

Franny,

I want the lunch box lady to come and make me lunch every day. Am not vegan, but would be nice not to have to sort lunch everyday.

You are brave. I would be v nervous about meeting peeps from school, I hated it, and did not really keep in touch with anyone,as we went abroad.

FrannyandZooey · 11/10/2007 10:00

Oh I am not going to meet up I don't think! I just recognised her on another thread and emailed her to say so. I hope she doesn't mind. I have lost touch with everyone from school as well, with a completeness that suggests it can't be accidental. I liked the people, but I didn't like school. I guess sometimes it is easier to just leave everything behind. PLus I had a very mixed up period at university where everything went a bit wrong. Perhaps now is a good time to make some tentative contact again? I would certainly like to hear how this poster's sister is and maybe get in touch, if she wants to.

I think the lunchbox lady is a bit scary. And she calls her son "Schmoo". I think Lully should have her own website and take photos of all her meals and write lovely things about them.
