For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Goodness knows. It's better for washing up but really not bathable in. Suppose we just wait for boiler chap on the 19th now.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:57

That's another 9 days!

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:57

erm, not sure why I said that

I expect you could have worked that out yourself

Boco · 10/10/2007 18:59

I don't think cholera would put me off at the moment. Although obviously you might not want to go out if you had cholera. But i could drink beer and chat to you. Maybe one day? (without the disease) I can never get anywhere! But maybe one day dp could drop me at the station. It's probably only 40 minutes on the train isn't it?

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 19:00

yy (having no actual idea at all)

but that sounds about right, maybe 30 mins even?

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 19:00

Avi i don't know, it just said black cabbage on the veg box newsletter it is huge and long and leafy and the sort of thing you feel worthy for eating. It was not delicious, IMO, and I like greens. There is bloody tons of it.

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 20:42

Avi is it on a separate circuit tho? I am sure you can;t just plug one into an ordinary socket. Well, I mean you can, but it could be dangerous. I wasn;t quite sure if that's what she meant. DH is nodding (he of the many dodgy diy electrical projects until I banned him, to stop him trying to kill himslef )

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 21:01

yes that certainly looks like it

no it doesn't help, it still tastes chewy and worthy to me. Will try to get dp to stir fry the rest - I adore stir fried greens - well, tasty ones without caterpillars anyway. I wonder why my box people think it is called cabbage?

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 21:03

I've just found one of my old school friend's sisters on the school thread. I have CATted her and am feeling slightly nervous. Why haven't we got a nervous emoticon?

pinkspottywellies · 10/10/2007 21:06

Oh I can't keep up any more so I'll just tell you about my 10/10.....

Stewed plums with yoghurt and bran flakes (1) apple juice (1) lentil and carrot soup (at least 2) cucumber and tomato (1) sweetcorn in fish pie (1) with kale (1) apple (1) figs (1) dried apricots (1)

10! and 1 hour exercise class

I've just spilt my wine when I got up to go and get the apricots to make my 10.

Hope everyone's well. Is there anything I need to know!?

IdrisTheDragon · 10/10/2007 21:08

Hello psw .

And hello everyone else as well .

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 21:09

I am perusing the Moosewood cook book again. Does anyone else have it? It is fab.

I love the fact that a recipe for stir fry is entitled

"Ode to Chang Kung"

And begins:

"Chang Kung is the Chinese Kitchen God, who watches over your stove when you bring out your wok"

I think LL could write us a 10/10 version

SauerKraut · 10/10/2007 21:26

Hello!
We have been away for a week in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. Not exactly a holiday- it was a friend's apartment, so plenty of cooking and cleaning (poo), and people sleeping on floors and shouting at each other for snoring,(mainly ds, who unfortunately seems to have inherited my noise intolerance) but a nice change of scenery. We climbed a mountain ( a very little one), went on a boat on a lake and visited some of the cities. Back to loads of washing!
Have skimmed the thread- did you buy any of the shoes in the end, TT?

Sorry to hear about your accident, Bee, hope you're recovering ok.

Avi, at the HE. Hope you have a great time with it.
