For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

Glad the shoes have been ordered. I gave no shoe advice as it couldn't decide. I just read back and i think i was wittering to myself last night here. I hate it when you read your messages back and think that maybe you should have gone to bed and shutup.

I had a mango for breakfast, plus raisins. I reckon that's 3.

I am meant to be going to the gym tonight for a review but I think I am too snotty. Bah.

Avi, I am having Tulip because I really needed something I could walk/run/climb/play in. On the "Ethics" page, there is a picture of a pair of 3 year old Tulips and they look so beautiful and comfortable.

I am HUNGRY! Dd1 definitely loves school C and so do I.

Tatties · 10/10/2007 14:53

Hi everyone

Boco I used to work with a girl and once we all went out to an Italian restaurant (she would have been about 23 at this point) and she didn;t know what a courgette or an aubergine were. I was very

I feel virtous since I have ben on the first of my boycott the supermarket shopping expeditions. I bought stuff from the greengrocers and healthfood shop.

I have also discovered there is a cheese shop / delicatessen only about 5 mins drive from me which I could pass every day except I usally go a different way.

Not sure what my f&V consumption has been today, I've lost track. I ate cake again, too

Boco · 10/10/2007 18:01

FK my flatmates at college had never had courgette or avocado. And one of them said their dad had never had a dinner without chips his whole life. She's very slim and glamorous and is a fashion editor, and she goes for cocktails at glamorous places and then has a potnoodle.

I'm feeling very irritable and grumpy and wrong today - so i went to my friend's house and asked her if she'd come to the pub later for a drink as i really want to drink beer and chat - and she said yes, then while we were drinking tea, her daughter threw up, and so the beer is canceled. I went to the shop to buy some cigarettes as i really want beer and a cigarette, but talked myself out of it by the time i got to the counter and ended up buying the East Anglian Daily Times instead. So i have no beer or fags, but the local paper.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:04

FK I think it is great that you are avoiding supermarkets. I felt so committed to it after reading Not on the Label and then I strayed back into it gradually. I wish I could get back on track.

Tatties being without pc is awful when you are so used to using it to relax. Hope it all gets fixed soon.

Avi fab news. I feel so confident we have made the right choice for ds at the moment. He is so happy and free and learning all the time.

TooT they will be lovely. I want to have the Rowan ones, possibly in holly and violet . I don't think I can get them but nice to know they exist.

Boo wasn't it last night that you said about the girl going "oh my goodness what on EARTH is that"? I thought it was very funny and I told dp. I like your wittering.

We have played Mbira and it was very nice. I can play a tune on it now. The workshop people were from Brighton (where else ) but there was one guy from my town who could already play it. He said "I think I am the only mbira player in this town" and I said "no you aren't, there's another one, because my friend X, her dp plays in a band with a man who plays the mbira." He said "No, that is me."

ah well maybe you had to be there.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:05

Boco get on the train and come to me, it isn't far. We can go to watch the mbira man play in a concert tonight and drink beer while we are watching

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:06

I am eating black cabbage very nervously. I strongly suspect it of harbouring caterpillars. We are also having hummus and pittas and roasted squash and roasted beetroot. I am hungry.

TooTicky · 10/10/2007 18:37

I like the rowan ones Franny but I don't think I would suit them.

Have just had v. nice calabrese and celery risotto with sage and rosemary. I have a thing about sage and rosemary atm.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:39

I hope Boco is getting her shoes on. Come on, Boco, it'll be fun.

TooTicky · 10/10/2007 18:41

Black cabbage? Is that like black kale?

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:41

Please tell us how cushiony etc they are TooT. If my feet carry on being crap I shall be forced to buy a pair for health reasons.

I'm going to have to sell those RocketDogs, Tatties They hurt my feet so much - on the underneath, where I have a kind of fallen arch. Strangely enough the String ones, which have the thinnest sole imaginable, are ok, but these are not

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:41

God knows. It isn't black, for a start. It is huge, and long, and quite chewy, and full of caterpillars. Mmmm.

FrayedKnot · 10/10/2007 18:42

Boco once when I was a desperate student in Italy and you couldn;t go to a local garage to buy fags because they were only sold in tabac type places, we rolled our own using a very coarse herbal tea mix. It was . I am not recommending it.

I hate that kind of disappointment. I get so excited about a night out these days I would be devastated if something I was planning was canclled at the last minute.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:42

Apple and blackberry crumble for pudding, though. Ho ho.

Boco · 10/10/2007 18:43

That sounds like a great idea. I'll be there in about an hour.

You must be careful, i was actually cheered by the thought that it really was possible. I want to go out.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:44

Boco have you got The Parent's Guide over there? I am in it and so is ds You reminded me by mentioning the East Anglian Daily Doodah.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:45

Boco I would LOVE you to come over so we could go out. The only hesitation I would have tonight is that I am quite snotty and might infect you.

TooTicky · 10/10/2007 18:49

Sounds like black kale. I am steaming a pudding.

Plumber came today to look at the immersion heater. He established that the socket it was connected to had been disabled because it was dodgy and said all we needed was an extension lead so dp went and bought one and we left it on for 1.5 hours and got lukewarm water. I'm sure it should be more efficient than that.

FrannyandZooey · 10/10/2007 18:53

lukewarm water an improvement though? Is he coming back again?
