Ive added 3 new piccys of tanya here Delaying tidying up now...

fionagib · 31/10/2004 21:36

we're in synch cc, have just come on and like you, and mm, have been foul of temper today - scratchy and peed off for no real reason, snappy with kids, offish with dh - it's not that I want a fag or even am thinking about them, and just feeling a bit grrrr... which is period related am sure (like you cc I get horrible horrible pwt and eve primrose oil seems to make no difference at all, only thing for it is to drink!)

well done on averting your eyes from that pulsating fag packet mm!!!!!

Nah, didn't declutter either - at least not the boys room which is a hellhole, really must tackle it... v impressed with your bin liner efforts! We have a joiner starting soon putting up shelves, fixing rotten back door etc - good incentive to beat back chaos before she starts...

(mind you she was meant to start on Sept 23!! she keeps promising to get started but we have yet to see evidence of a spirit level being weilded!)

I can feel my back teeth jammed together in a sullen moodish kinda way.

still, no fags for any of us, life can't be too bad! catch you tomorrow xxxx

fionagib · 31/10/2004 21:40

ps your pics are so sweet cc! v creative with face paints too! My efforts always look like horribly sludgy mess and the boys won't even let me try.

charliecat · 31/10/2004 22:38

OMFG I have bulldozed my upstairs, and as I live in an upside down house that is my front room and my kitchen and my toyroom/conservatory. i must have 9 black bags plus !!!!!!!!!!!!
I have brought some polly pocket and stuff for the girls for Xmas and I could feel it getting throw in with the rest of the toys and at 60 for 3 sets I couldnt bear the thought and I channeled my pmt rage into it and have achieved LOADS. Dp didnt lift a fucking finger and I could ram a hammer up his arse and smack the hammer through the front door but never the less I wont I will just type loudly and annoy him evil
Fiona, Tanyas face was meant to be a thunder bolt and a cloud, you should have saw the piccy I was trying to copy, it was STUNNING, but like Rolf Harris, its never as good as you want it to be and as good as they make out it will be!
20 mins later it was a sludgy mess....
I had a moment where I could have had a fag like sucked it all in one go so I sucked on a lozenge and went outside in the frosty air and sucked air onstead.....thought 3 weeks and ballsing it up..its never just one....will pass get over it...get over it..ohhh over it...phew.
THANK GAWD for this thread. It is my life line.

mammya · 31/10/2004 22:45

Well done for resisting charliecat!
Sorry about my short posts, never know what to say... Also I tend to post when you lot are not around, so no replies straight away.

charliecat · 31/10/2004 22:50

Im here chat away! Just looking through your albims, your dd is gorgeous!

mammya · 31/10/2004 22:52

I'm looking at your photos too, you're all gorgeous!

charliecat · 31/10/2004 22:53

Your dd and the album is gorgeous you are very organised!!!
I still have a passionate love for REAL photos that you can touch and flick through when theres nothing better to do so my digital camera rarely gets used and I never print them out although I really should!
Do you have family in the Isle of Wight?

charliecat · 31/10/2004 22:55

Thanks but I know we look like a right family of Pikeys in comparison!

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:01

Ok I'll have a moan then, since you all insist... I'm concerned that I'm putting on weight as I've been eating lots of rubbish since giving up the fags. We've been to a few kiddies parties recently and have been steadily munching my way through the party bags. The thing is I still haven't lost all the weight I put on when I was pregnant (I was the size of a small country, honestly...). I keep losing some, putting it back on, etc, the typical yoyo thing. Surely that can't be good? Although fear not, that's not going to send me back to the smokers' corners, I realise it's much more unhealthy to smoke than to be a bit overweight.

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:03

sorry cc, posts crossed!
No I disagree, your girls look lovely and you're not too bad either...
and no, no family on the Isle of Wight! The reason we went was that I had only one week available this summer, wanted a proper seaside holiday with my dd, but have not got much money. So I rented a car with easyCar and worked out how far I could go with their mileage allowance, and plumped for the Isle of Wight. And it was lovely!

charliecat · 31/10/2004 23:07

Hmmm, well I eat like a small horse also when not smoking...but I feel I dooooo more and sit on my arse less when not smoking so it compensates...I have never been on a diet in my life and before kids I was 9.2 now 11 stone on the dot, It doesnt bother me though, I am who I am...
I was for the first week gobbling everything, and the way i deal with it is drink some water, and then munch, theres not as much room left to fill.
And dont buy as much crap, although the party bag stuff is just there to be eaten isnt it?!
Could you fit in some extra walking or something so that your burning off more calories thab your eating? Have you been to walkers.co.uk to get your free walkometer? Thats may help..

charliecat · 31/10/2004 23:09

LOL...how many miles can we go....thats excellent. I picked up a leaflet for there once but we didnt get there, we ended up camping with the kids next to a bloody motorway and all night an owl kept going twit twoooo...AND we were under a flight path

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:14

Well I thouroughly recommend the IoW, no motorway there, and probably not under a flight path either! Lots of owls though I'm sure... but also lots of things to do with the kids.

charliecat · 31/10/2004 23:18

Sitting here thinking IoW is that the new weight watchers

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:19

thoroughly even!
Will check out the website for the free walkometer now, thanks! A few months ago I applied for a Special K one, got token off Special K boxes (and had to eat the stuff, though not so keen on it), sent my tokens with cheque and a couple of weeks later my cheque was returned to me with a note saying that it had been found floating about in the mail. Some mean postal worker nicked my tokens! how crap is this?
But anyway, a free one is better!

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:21

Lol at IoW the new Weightwatchers!
Gosh that walkers site hurts the eyes...

charliecat · 31/10/2004 23:24

OMG that is disgusting!!!!!!!!! Ive always thought someone will nick this when I send of things for competitions or things that you have to send a pound coin throogh the post for, they havent as yet!
BTW if you try and order another for a friend it wont let you unless you disconnect. Am freezing here and must get to bed in the next 5 mins...

mammya · 31/10/2004 23:26

OK, good night then, should go to bed soon too!
Speak soon.

charliecat · 31/10/2004 23:30

Should have went earlier have just spent 10.49 on an advent calendar on ebay I know I could get in the shops for 7 quid lol...night night xx

charliecat · 01/11/2004 10:36

How are we today? I am frantically listing for thursdays free listing on Ebay.

charliecat · 01/11/2004 10:40

And OMG its november!!!! I said to myself it would be nice to be a couple of months free when the kids birthdays come, thats the 21st of this month, so nearly on track.
BTW Fiona your cards still in the hall x100!!!!

fionagib · 01/11/2004 14:01

don't you worry about that card cc!!!! I have b'day presents that I should have sent out to dd's pals in september.

v impressed with decluttering... am gonna tackle boys' room TONIGHT!! (cos dd and her minxy boy pal trashed it this a.m.).

was ratty and gloomy yesterday, much better today - thank god for lozenges and, as you say, cc, this thread... I really laffed btw about you wanting to whack a hammer up your dp's arse...

MY DH PUT A PATCH ON THIS MORNING! He took kids for a walk in a forest yesterday on my orders, and felt crap - knackered and wanting a fag, and there were all these fit dads zooming about on mountain bikes. YEY!!!! I might go down to that forest and check out those fit dads

how goes it mm and mammya? good I hope - oh and mammya I am feeling the weight creeping on too after just one week - don't have scales but think am about 10 stone, also v short - 5 foot 3. Really hate the thought of piling it on. When I smoke loads I hardly eat during the day - exist on nicotine and coffee which I know is bad bad bad... no way to live really.

catch up tonight, better do a bit of work... xxxx need a slather of mm's oils (nearly run out now, will return bottles!) ps the lozenges are starting to taste delicious!

prefernot · 01/11/2004 14:11

Oh, I hope you guys don't mind me slipping in here ... I've been reading on and off the various stopping smoking threads you've all been involved in and avoiding joining in as I felt too useless to even think about giving up let alone try to ...

BUT I had flu last week which has left me with a lousy chest and I can't live with myself as a smoker anymore. I'm 37, have asthma, my father died of heart disease. Since having dd (now 2) I've been racked with guilt about unnecessarily digging my own grave by smoking.

Pre-dd I was on about 30 a day. Awful. I pretty much gave up when pregnant but to my shame even then I still had 2-3 or so a day. While b/f it went up to about 5 a day. And it's now been 5-10 a day.

Yesterday I smoked 1 cigarette. Today so far I had 2 puffs this morning then chucked it away as I felt so pissed off with myself for giving in. I'm at work today and have only taken a VERY short lunchbreak so I'm not tempted to nip into a newsagent and buy 10. Tomorrow until Thursday I'll be looking after dd which will be when I'll crave a smoke more than I do today. I love dd and for a 2 year old she's pretty good but I find it hard to get through the long days which are so demanding without smoking something.

Questions for you:

The initial cravings (by which I mean that horrible niggling itching craving in the lungs) go on for how long? Do they get worse each day or sort of even out?
