For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm back, I think it was ok. I don't know, if you went to a party and half of the children were running around for the last half hour, would you think that was a bit crap? Probably. Ah well. They seemed to enjoy it.

I didn't take ephedrine, no - that and the caffeine would have finished me off, I reckon. I had 2 paracetamol, a tbsp of Kiki superfood and 2 tsp elderberry in a glass of orange juice. I felt fine actually. But it was bloody hard work.

I think wallowing is a healthy part of grieving isn't it? You can't get over something if you never allow yourself to think about it and feel the pain of it.

Yes but tea needs milk of some sort. I stockpile soya milk for this eventuality - I drink my tea about 40% milk

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 16:09

Even when I occasionally drank black tea I never had it with any kind of milk. Ick.

Franny, I cannot access the $(£488!& game. Some kind of server problem.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 16:11

Oh, and children are supposed to run around a lot. It's highly necessary.

This thread is SO slow to load, please oh please can we have a nice shiny new one?

Oh and for the old oak tree.

No you don't Avi. Milk makes it all cloggy and yucky and you can't taste the lovely bergamot properly.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 16:52

I had a grapefruit, 2 oranges and an apple for breakfast. Since then, half of another apple and a big bowl of veg stew. Have also swum for over an hour (well, walked around in the water supporting dd2's tummy while she very nearly swam). Showers were lovely though hot and everything.

I have to side with Toot on the Earl Grey, much better with lemon. I do like a little goats or rice milk in black tea though.

We haven't mentioned food for ages have we? I am cooking a chicken and we will have roast potatoes, celeriac mash, carrots, broccoli, peas (not me), cabbage, stuffing and gravy. I am deciding whether to have peaches baked with vanilla and raspberries in a sponge or apple and raspberry crumble.

Speaking of trees, our very spindley apple tree that has only ever produced manky spotted tiny apples, has decided to make so many this year the branches have split and are bent on the ground. I was told to cut this back as the tree would suffer and the apples wouldn't carry on growing but I left it and they did carry on growing and now they are very tasty indeed. Zillions of them. I think this is quite nice that have had a new baby and got married and an unproductive tree has been bountiful with fruit. I will see this as a good omen. If the tree snuffs it, well, it's still a good omen.

Could I just pour a sponge mix onto the peaches and raspberries do you think, would that work all you daily cak bakers?

FrayedKnot · 07/10/2007 17:08

I have eaten an apple, a clementine, some grapes, pea soup, and I am making a carrot, lentil and cheese loaf for supper with brocolli and jacket potato wedges.

I have dusted off my beloved copy of the Moosewood Cookbook and I am perusing it for ideas for next week.

The thing I like best about it is the fact that they call chickpeas "Garbanzo Beans"

I thought of a thread title last night and I've forgotten it.

Franny I also might have to book you for a party

I hope your various remedies have averted whatever it was. I virtually snorted soluble echinacea tablets the week before last and I'm sure it warded off the 3 different colds that people had spluttered over me.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 17:13

MrsC our previously very productive apple trees and plum tree have produced barely anything this year
Must find out about proper pruning.

TooTicky · 07/10/2007 17:15

"peaches baked with vanilla and raspberries in a sponge"

FK, I have been drinking echinacea tea in a defensive sort of way.

FrannytheDruid · 07/10/2007 17:25

Oh lordy, a new thread

[indecision]

nobody book me for a party if they mind half the children just running around

I am better when there are babies, they sit still

FrannytheDruid · 07/10/2007 17:34
