For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh I need to stop myself going insane and am going to have another bash at getting to know more people locally

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 22:36

How exciting tatties. What are you going to do?

BBBee · 25/09/2007 22:44

tatties - do you have an old lady nearby wiht cats - I love them - they can talk about thier cats for hours and they know all the gossip.

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 22:45

Surely this will drive further towards the edges of insanity BBee?

BBBee · 25/09/2007 22:46

has boco been around? Maybe her computer has died and she will disappear foreverrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

BBBee · 25/09/2007 22:47

oh maybe I am already there - I love my old cat lady - she is nearly 90 and talks about sexy men on CSI. She is quite bonkers but that kind of insainty is good.

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 22:52

Yes sexy men on CSI is good, we need to find one of those for Tatties. My local 84 y-o goes on a bit, about very little, no mention of sexy men, just the church and what Mrs Boolop said to Christine. I don't know any of these people.

Do have v. lovely old man who stops by to chat on his way to the allotments. He is Polish and sometimes gives me onions, and Holly last christmas. When the AA man was here last week he stopped by with his wheelbarrow and narrowed his eyes at him, as though he thought he were up to no good.

I hope Boco hasn't disappeared. I offered to go and flirt in the Apple shop for her. i want to.

Poor Boco. It's a terrible thought. She's stuck in RL now.

BBBee · 25/09/2007 22:58

i could text her but that might be weird - she might just be watching a film and then I would be a stalker.

Hmm, I will text her tomorrow.

I like the long old lady stories about so-and-so said so-and-so and the rambling and the good old days. She tells me the plot of emmerdale as she knows I don;t watch it and she doesn;t want me to miss out.

BBBee · 25/09/2007 22:59

what presents do you get for 8yr old boys?

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 23:04

My MIL tells me the plot of Emmerdale. She has very strong opinions on that, and The Bill. She thinks it's all true.

8 y-o? Hmm. DS2 is going to be eight next month. I don't know what to get him either. You tell me, I'll get it too.

Tatties · 25/09/2007 23:19

LOL! Yes there is some cat lady potential around here I think. I have found out about some new toddler classes so I will see how it goes. I was feeling very manic and teeth-grindy about it all a couple of days ago but I am nesting pre-menstrually now and in a mood to get things done.

ahundredtimes · 25/09/2007 23:27

Go For It.

And a music group or something? They're good because you have something to do, and can chat whilst banging a tambourine and this is helpful if you're shy. I have no idea if you are shy, but Toddler groups used to make me shy.

FrannyandZooey · 26/09/2007 08:23

God don't chat while the music lady is trying to get your children to sing a song

you bastards, I lose my voice about 4 times a year because of you tambourine chat merchants

apple, pear, raisins

and off to work, my tambourine in hand

lionheart · 26/09/2007 09:24

Shh!

IdrisTheDragon · 26/09/2007 09:44

We are getting moderately near the limit - OI hope there isn't a repeat of Saturday .

BBBee · 26/09/2007 10:06

I never chatted during the music grops - I took it all very seriously - see frnny - I am a good mummy, 100 chats during all the songs and smokes at the same time probably.

Tatties - toddler groups and weird and wonderful. I used to hate them but a few stock remarks about supermarkets and children are good converdsation openers and then you usually end up with someone fun and you get les shy. The thing about parenting is that it is quite a narrow group of people you mix with - so if there are 10 children in a toddler group that is only 10 parents and it takes some looking to find someone you get on with. Keep going, keep talking and remember how fab you are and how much we all love you - once you get in with someoen fun it takes off. Smile a lot.

come on 8 yr old boys help! I might get a swis army knife and a doctor who dvd - bit dull though maybe?

What about those little boxes with stick men in them? Chemistry set!!! Metal detector?

(Bright Minds has lots of gadgets and gizmos and games and goodies).

SauerKraut · 26/09/2007 10:08

Sympathies about the sleeping. It leaves me cold too, the not coming when they want one to. Sadly, it happened a lot with dd1, because we didn't know.
Carotte, I swear that Quark stuff does good for mastitis. You spread it on a clean cloth and wrap it round your bosom- or slap it straight on. I was amazed at how it worked.
Re dd3. They are sending her to the school psychologist who will determine whether or not she's capable of doing the stuff and just doesn't want to, and at what stage she really is developmentally, so they know whether or not it's ok to push her without damaging her. Today we have to take her to the doctor to see if there are any sinister underlying causes for her being so much smaller than the rest, and so easily tired and unable to concentrate. Then we have to decide if she needs another year in kindergarten with an SN specialist to help her concentrate, to help her fine motor skills, etc.
They think it has nothing to do with how bright she is academically, more body and attitude.

BBBee · 26/09/2007 10:09

oh avi - have you tried peppermint oil and nurofen plus? (one hippy soloution one hard core chemistry solution) are you stressed? too much screen time? virus? (lack of caffine?)

when does you next course start?

I am currently refining my pre-course assignments (can you tell!)

BBBee · 26/09/2007 10:10

oh lionheart - he said he would like a metal detector but once he has opened it and gone round the house what will we do with it? Is it good? it could be good?

what boxes with stick men on? a shoe box with a stick man drawn on it as a cheap budget gift? that won;t wash!

idris what did you buy your dad for his birthday? dads are hard.

ahundredtimes · 26/09/2007 10:11

Oh no, Franny and avi have both got headaches. Poor you Avi.

Oh Tatties - my favourite was a art and music group. I liked making pasta tractors very much. I think I definitely chatted during Wheels on the Blardy Bus, though I was also a most vigorous arm waver during the wipers 'swish, swish, swish' verse.

8 y-0. I can't give mine a penknife, I dread to think what might happen.
Right. Erm. A watch? A computer game? A big lego thing? (notice how vague I got there, ds2 can't do lego). Something to do with Pokemon and/or bone heads?
