For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Make a couple more and pile them up. Layer cakes are fun.

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 22:51

Thank you Tatties .

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 22:51

God, sorry TooT.

Hmm. This is rubbish, and awful, awful for you. Secondary school might be the answer? Maybe?

I have similar things with ds1, who doesn't seem to have any friends but then sometimes he does, but I get so anxious and sick about it.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 22:51

TooT they are just meanies. I am sorry. It tears you up when people are thoughtlessly cruel like that.

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 22:53

Yes, she musn't go back for more of the same.

What about secondary school? We need to find her some like-minded folk.

Woodcraft folk? I am lolol as i write this, but I know you will like it. I want them to do it, but am worried I will let the side down as not being sufficiently woodcrafty and for wearing expensive shoes. i did a thread about it once.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 22:53

Secondary school is a year away though. She can't have another year with no friends. It is all too much. Need a child-matching service or something.

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 22:54

I might change it again to something slightly more reasonable.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 22:55

I went to woodcraft folk. We are, supposedly, on a waiting list but it has been an awfully long time - must chase it up.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 22:55

We have no woodcraft folk here. I periodically pester dp to start one but hell would freeze over first, poor man.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 22:56

Your ds1 has just started secondary, yes?

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 22:56

My age that is. It is done now. Slightly improbable really.

TooT I am feeling for your DD.

I am impressed at the unicycle. When DS and I saw one recently he found it very funny .

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 22:56

OH FGS. Have just taken them out the tin, they're not cakes at all, they are no wider than a bloody shortcake biscuit. What shall I do? I might just go and buy one tomorrow but dd wanted to ice and do the smarties, and oh god, I am SO RUBBISH.

WHY didn't they rise?

Sorry.

TooT. Woodcraft folk in Bradford on Avon?

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 22:58

No ds1 is nearly 10, is in Y5.

He's very marvellous and clever and I adore him, but he has zero social skills. He just looks down and makes wry remarks, and that doesn't really cut it with other 9 yo. Though he has rather surprisingly, to us all included him, taken up rugby. Have no idea why, but am hopeful.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 23:00

Bradford? I thought it was Freshford or Avoncliff or something. Right, will investigate.

She's doing well with the unicycle. Not quite riding it but really getting her balance. She's only had it a couple of weeks.
Oh, and she heard today that a book review she wrote may well be used on the book itself [proud mummy]

Boco · 21/09/2007 23:00

Oh dear, shame about the cakes 100, can they be smarty icing biscuits?

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 23:01

You've all gone off.

I have to go and cry over the cakes now and make some decisions.

Have noticed how terrible my typing is - apologies - am clearly out of practice.

Hope you all have lovely weekend. Think of me with my biscuit birthday cake and all those bouncy balls and 25 5 yo bursting into tears because the horrid lady told me not to be so silly and to eat up the horrid cake.

Boco · 21/09/2007 23:01

Oh Toot that's great - about the book.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 23:02

100x, he might well get on with dd1.

About the cakes.... do you feel up to making more? A nice pile sandwiched together with jam and icing would be impressive and look quite intentional.

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 23:02

Yes, heroic about the book. All these experiences will give her something to write her first book about.

Yes, could make biscuits Boco BUT she stil needs a birthday cake for the blowing out and singing. Oh gah.

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 23:03

Oh okay? Do it again, and have four biscuit cakes sort of thing? That's a good idea. You are top. DD is very lucky to have you.

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 23:04

Has Franny gone off in a huff because we are all crowding around 100x?

TooTicky · 21/09/2007 23:05

Good luck 100x

We will have to woo Franny back with lashings of poetry.

ahundredtimes · 21/09/2007 23:05

Oh dear I do hope not. I'm off anyway, to cook more useless cakes. I wonder what went wrong? Anyway, shall do two more and sandwich together with jam and icing tomorrow. Will be a Tower of Babel themed cake.

IdrisTheDragon · 21/09/2007 23:06

I'm afraid I have no suggesions about cakes. I am a reluctant baker.

FrannyandZooey · 21/09/2007 23:12

LOL I was working

for all of 10 mins

I don't think 5 y os will care how flat the cakes are when there are smarties and icing and bouncy balls. I wouldn't. Really.
