I adore it............consume it in bucket fulls and like a gorgeous man it takes over my life and leaves me feeling shite most of the time. Im fat, pasty , dry skinned and constantly tired and now it is starting to affect my work and home life. Yes I function very well and my children are happy and healthy cared for a lot of the time by a nanny as I work 60 to 70 hour weeks but I dont like myself very much and I know I could do so much better without this obession in my life.

So no more wine ( red or white ) or beer etc. Its gin and slimline tonics from now on and only at the weekend. Goes well with the weight watchers plan too.

Anyone else want to join me in suuport ?

Abstaining mon-weds is still good though. Tbh I found this the hardest as the beginning of the week at work is usually far worse and hence I craved wine more.

This is the only safe time for me to drink to excess really as I've got my period and there is no way I can be pregant. It's back to sensible drinking again from next week (including the weekends )as I only allow myself one blowout a month.

Overall I've been pleased that I've managed 1 week mon-fri with no alcohol and 2 where I only drank on wednesday. This is now the 4th week since the thread started. Good luck everyone

ladylush · 07/10/2007 13:13

Oh mummypoppins - great to hear from you Don't be and stop lurking and join us. It's not a telling off sort of thread and bloody hell, it's YOUR THREAD anyway Maybe you should wait til after your holiday to cut down as I'm sure you will want to indulge whilst on holiday. I know I would Anyway, thanks for starting this thread cos until I joined it I was fooling myself that I could manage to drink 3-4 days a week, varying the days to suit. I have realised now that I have to be more rigid for it to work - hence the no drinking mon-thurs.

ladylush · 08/10/2007 12:32

By the way, it must be hard not to drink with the hours you work - nothing like wine to unwind. I was going to suggest maybe you try to replace it with something else indulgent but healthier eg massage, reflexology etc. so that you use those things in the week and enjoy wine at the weekend. The first week is the hardest, much easier afterwards. I felt like I was having a bereavement in the first week

WaynettaVonBlood · 08/10/2007 12:41

(Am too ashamed to come in..have been ridiculous over the past two weeks....am climbing back on board the wagon now.....will lurk in the doorway for a few days till I'm brave enough to re-enter....)

ladylush · 08/10/2007 12:43

Ladies, stop lurking and come on in
Right then, who's for a cocktail? Virgin of course

ladylush · 08/10/2007 15:43

It's very tasty - you wouldn't know there's no alcohol in it

mummypoppins · 08/10/2007 17:23

so whats the receipe ??

OP posts:
ladylush · 08/10/2007 17:25

Oh I dunno - it twas a virtual offering to tempt you in to my non-alcoholic bar. Sorry I will look up a recipe and report back

WaynettaVonBlood · 09/10/2007 08:33

(was a very good girl yesterday, and am enjoying the smug feeling of this morning, so hopefully it'll be enough to get me on the right track)

laloupgarou · 09/10/2007 08:44

Welcome back mummypoppins and Waynetta

Glad to see you back again. I'm only managing 3 full days in a row before I cave in and pour a glass of the evil, red stuff . But I s'pose it's better than nothing so I'm hanging on in there...goal this week is to get past Thursday night without a glass of wine. Just to let you know as extra encouragement, I have lost 4lbs in the last two weeks and I think cutting back on the wine has definitely helped

All the best for today, laydeez!

ladylush · 09/10/2007 21:21

Ooh la la - tres bien laloup. Sadly I have not lost any weight

ladylush · 10/10/2007 19:21

God I need a drink after my shift today. No, I do not need one - I want one - therefore I shall refrain. Deep breaths.

laloupgarou · 10/10/2007 20:37

Well done, ladylush, you'll feel so much better tomorrow for resisting it! I slipped up last night and had 2 glasses of wine. Back onto the wagon tonight. Is it just you and me again...

ladylush · 10/10/2007 22:01

Well I had to feel like I had a drink so I had an alcohol free beer (less than 0.5%)tastes much better than becks alcohol free, therefore easier to fool yourself that it's the genuine thing. Now just need to drink 10 more to get some effect Of course, I am joking

ladylush · 10/10/2007 22:02

I think I am a worse lush than you lot cos I have to keep reporting to base, hence it is always on my mind

WaynettaVonBlood · 11/10/2007 09:30

good week so far........

ladylush · 11/10/2007 09:44

well done waynetta - keep it up

laloupgarou · 11/10/2007 10:43

Well done, Waynetta and ladylush. Our house was a wine-free zone again last night. Just one more night and then it's the weekend, yayyy!!

ladylush · 11/10/2007 10:46

Well done Laloup - hurrah for tomorrow

DettaJnr · 11/10/2007 20:03

Sorry. Haven't been on net for a week.

Party last Friday was great but I still had a hangover Sunday... Mental note, try not to match husband pint for pint and I think the double short was a bad idea...

Much more resilient this week. Feel much better mentally and physically. Just as well, as DD1 didn't sleep Friday to Tuesday inc. Turned out to be a UTI. I thought she had a case of schoolitis and jealous of her sister who likes to sleep in our bed... another thread I suppose.

Well done everyone.

ladylush · 11/10/2007 21:24

lol yes always better dealing with sleepless children without fuzzy wine head. Well done for good week detta I have 2 bottles of white, 1 rose and a red in my cupboard............now, which one shall I open tomorrow night............
