he was in a lot of pain yesterday which has not improved today. he is much more confused so it is difficult to find out what is going on. his sight is much worse too and he is quite wobbly.
The doctor phoned the hospital and talked to them about it. the doc has given him a morphine injection and he is to go back on the steriods, which he has just been weaned off. the doctor will phone in the morning to see how he is. he is tucked up in bed now.

Ahhh, oj, so sorry to hear this Glad the doctor came fast for him though. And you are a star, you know.

soapbox · 08/09/2007 23:53

I'm so sorry about this. Have you been introduced to the pain team at the hospital yet? If not perhaps you could ask your consultant to refer Steve to them?

onlyjoking9329 · 08/09/2007 23:59

i yhink when we see the consultant next i will ask about the mac nurses and see if we can get the pain sorted, thou Steve doesn't want the mac nurses involved i will try to change his mind on that.

it is a rollercoaster ride that is for sure.
i do love him so much and i was probably guilty of taking our relationship for granted until this all happened.

Bubble99 · 09/09/2007 00:18

OJ. Do you think he's reluctant to get the Mac nurses involved because it feels like 'another stage?'

This must be so hard for you all.

onlyjoking9329 · 09/09/2007 00:20

he doesn't want the mac nures cos that = cancer, he doesn't want to have cancer and often forgets that he has it.

OP posts:
Bubble99 · 09/09/2007 00:31

Has he had any counselling?

By the sounds of it he's (quite understandably) not wanting to acknowledge his cancer.

I worked as a Marie Curie nurse for several years and nursed people at home, at the end of their lives, to give respite to the family. IME, one of the hardest things for people to come to terms with was the anger and this would often go hand in hand with denial. I'm sure you know all of this. I don't want to go on..Those who had counselling, often thinking that it wouldn't help them, seemed to be able to come to find some kind of peace.

My heart goes out to you. It really does.

BBBee · 09/09/2007 00:59

I hope he is resting and I hope you are too.

Vent on here all you like. I often think about you and how you are doing.

hippipotami · 09/09/2007 09:04

How are you this morning oj? I hope you managed to get some sleep.

mummydoit · 09/09/2007 09:22

So sorry to hear this, OJ. Hope you managed to get some sleep last night and that Steve is better today.

Steve finds it hard to talk about it all, his memory is bad and he get angry and confused, i am hoping he will agree to talk to someone.
steve slept very well, i slept on and off. he has no pain this morning thou a bit woozy, his MS has flared up so numb arm and leg today but he is brighter then yesterday.
thanks for all your kind words and thoughts.

missed this yesterday oj. I'm glad things are a bit better now. Do get the nurses involved, it will make things a lot easier.
