For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

this looks nice

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:38

or alternatively, fourteen other celeriac recipes

BBBee · 03/09/2007 21:39

grate celeriac into salad with beetroot and carrot.

am crap at no carbs - had big salad and beans for kitchen and then ended up ramming french bread and plum jam into my mouth whilst trying to load dishwasher.

HATE getting school stuff - had to have a medicinal illy coffee in town and burnt my mouth. DS was literally crawling around the floor in gap. He is so excitable - I feel like going back and giving his techer from last year an extra present. I find it hard to keep up with the amount of stimulation he requires.

Looked for crying chocolate in chocolate shop today but they didn't have it - was all cognac and nibbled coffee beans. I need to have it now - it is stuff of legend now.

DD asked me today why my bum was getting bigger and my boobs were getting smaller. Also caught sight of a very tired old and slightly larger around the hips than hip woman in a mirror today in town.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 21:39

I don't have a big salad and beans for a kitchen it was for supper

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 21:40

Gawd bless you hearts, and no mistaking.

OK. I'll try it tomorrow, in some incredibly complicated way. What's it like on the inside? Oh fgs, you don't have to answer that. I'll go and cut it up.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 21:41

it is like a spongy turnip - cactully it basically is a turnip with the slight flavour of celery.

How come you have it? Do you have a veg box?

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2007 21:42

Ooh, can we do soup recipes / ideas please?

I need to get into soups otehrwise I won;t make 10/10 through the winter.

I often make root vegetable soups - butternut squash, celeriac, carrot, etc

But I could do with some inspiration...

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:43

I am longing for soup season. New boots. Wind.

womblingalong · 03/09/2007 21:43

Hello,

Am hugely fed up today, cannot get DS (5 months) to settle, very refluxy and colicky, will not be put down, doesn't like being in a sling, is a real struggle to bf - he thrashes about and screams and bites, hardly sleep 10 or 20 mins a day if I am lucky, and is waking between 4 and 6 times a night. I am so tired and fed up, have been to Docs again to push for a referral, have no idea when it will come through. Wantit sorted now! Have shouted "what do you want" at baby and now feel a v v bad mother. Have also lost tmeper with DD for wetting her bed this afternoon.

Have had rasins, dates, apricots, nectarine, apple, peppers, butternut squash, mushrooms, onion, tomato, peas, plum.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 21:44

Me too MrsC. Is DS2's new pencil case that set me thinking of this. New pencils, new shoes, sharp chill in the air, misty mornings, new starts.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 21:45

(soup soup a tasty soup soup a spicy carrot and corriander...)

soup is great - my aunt used to put it all in a slow cooker in the morning ready for supper - actually don't do that it sounds disgusting and void of vitamins and all mush.

Leek and potato.

butter in pan
saute 2 chopped leeks
add stock and potato
simmer until cooked
add some milk if you like
whizz it
serve it

my fussy ds eats this no problem.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 21:45

(woble - I am crap I know but am going to post office tomorrow)

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 21:47

Wombling - how utterly, utterly awful. DS1 was like this, was almost 10 years ago now but I am feeling your pain. I can't remember what I did though, except cry and shout 'what do you want?' at the baby and fall asleep at inappropriate moments. I was too tired at the time to be able to recall if anything helped.

Boco · 03/09/2007 21:47

Oh dear MrsC, does soup give you wind?

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2007 21:50

Oh Womble

Sounds like a really difficult time you are having. Disturbed nights are total torture.

Hope you get your referral soon.

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:51

Leeks do not agree with me despite my loving them. That's DH'S favourite soup though. I like Italian tomato with a heap of onions in a pile and parmesan on top. Or beetroot and dill. Butter and chorizo, more of a stew that. Morrocan chickpea...

We also got ds pencil case with new things. Soon the loofah webs will be frosty. Did you see that, Franny, I remembered.

womblingalong · 03/09/2007 21:53

Thanks a100x, don't worry BBBee, wheneer you get round to it is fine.

I just want to cry and cry and cry, I know in my head that there is nothing wrong with my milk, that this is a phase, that he will improve, but I didn't think my 5 month old would be like this. I thought I'd have a lovely mat leave, spending time with DD & getting to know DS, but all I do is say to DD: "Watch TV/Do Puzzle/Clour in/play by yourself, while Mummy tries to stop DS crying/feeds DS/does housework, I am not doing anything well at all!

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 21:53

I love new pencil cases. I tried very hard to persuade ds1 that he needed a new pencil case, but he wasn't having any of it, I wanted him to feel the pleasure.

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:53

Boco- Only leek soup!

Wombling - Could he be having a growth spurt as well? These always seem unbearable but then they settle like magic. Hope it's that.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 21:55

Hmmm it is awful Wombling. But it will pass, and he will grow, and it will all be forgotten. And you will stand in WH Smiths saying 'Look there is a Dr Who one' and he will smile patiently at you and shake his head and take your hand and say in a small, quiet voice 'Come on. Let's move away from the pencil cases now mum.'

Does this help at all?

FrayedKnot · 03/09/2007 21:55

Leeks are v. windy.

I can;t eat leeks, eitehr, or bananas anymore

Why do things you have been eating all your life suddenly start upsetting you?

It took me ages to work out about the bananas.

Boco · 03/09/2007 21:55

I'm not ready for all that mist and wind - we haven't even had summer yet! It's been autumnal for months! I want to go abroad - quick, i need sunshine!

BBBee i emailed you with a dilemma. I thought about posting, but didn't want to post the joke as it's horrible. - Dilemma is, if someone you were doing work for sent you racist jokes, how would you tackle it - ignore, comment lightly, say 'stop that badness!' - what? Dp says i should not even do the work, but i have to as i really need the money. Oh i don't know, - 100x i need you to come along and do that thing you do when you point out that this isn't really even an issue and to stop that now. Anne?..

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:56

I get quite excited by their lunchboxes too. DD has a flower fairies tin and ds has converse trainers on his. Very cool. All the best ones are tin though. DD did vaguely point towards those nasty pink dog material ones.

Boco · 03/09/2007 21:57

Oh we bought a new pencil tin today! It has ballerinas on it of course.

MrsCarrot · 03/09/2007 21:59

We had summmer in April. It came early for my wedding. It's all my fault you see. I WISHED it very hard.

Boco - Could you just say, I don't find that very funny?
