For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

What's the joke? I can't do this unless I know the depth and extent of the horror.

Wombling - I think we had all sort of un 10/10ish things. Like Infacol (or drinking fennel tea?) and ds2 was given Gaviscon when he left the hospital, I think. Sorry. Am useless. I feel for you though.

womblingalong · 03/09/2007 21:59

100x, yes it is helping, I have a stationery thing too, and am a sucker for new pencil cases, and loads of paper, notebooks, pads f paper etc. I wonder if he will share my obsession or not, hmmmmm

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:02

boco - have replied with a load of ramble.

Oh womble - how horrid. It is a phase, it will pass, you may never get to the bottom of it but it will pass. DD will be fine with a few well placed dvds and time playing on her own - there is no great detremental effects. You are snappy but you are tired and worn out. I was really horrid to ds about two weeks after dd was born - and he is fine - well he's not he's realy hyper but nothing to do with being shouted at when he was two.

Be nice to yourself. Don't get cross with yourself.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:02

You won't share the joke Boco will you? If it were me, I'd email back and say 'I don't think that's funny. Why are you sending this to me? Your artwork will be ready in two weeks. Have you decided whether you wanted the cream or the blue for the worm's dress?'

Like that.

womblingalong · 03/09/2007 22:02

100x, not useless at all. You are giving me some much needed perspective. DS is on Gaviscon (pita because it needs to be mixed with water and given after every BF - approx 12-16 a day!) Ranitidine (anti acid) 3 x a day, he has infacol and gripe water, and calpol/nurofen for teething, as he is cutting about a gazillion teeth, poor, poor thing.

Boco · 03/09/2007 22:06

wombling sorry you're having such a horrible time. DD2 screamed for the first 3 months - bad colic - which was a shock after peaceful happy dd1. I took her to a cranial osteopath - only half believing that they actually did anything - and i came away really believing. Her birth had been very very rapid (14 minutes) - and the CO said that had caused some problem with nerves related to sucking. as she put her hands on dds head in a certain place, her tongue started poking out - it was odd - and after each of the 3 sessions she slept peacefully for about 5 hours. I didn't need to go back after the 3rd session as she was calm - i really do think it helped.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:06

Oh utter utter yuckness Wombling. What else? Oh yes, tilt his head when he lies down, like a very very thin pillow? What do they think this is? Reflux?

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:08

Boco - Anne wrote an email. Didn't you see? She was succinct, professional and patronising.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:10

god boco I gave you the wimp out option compared to DP and 100.

foxinsocks · 03/09/2007 22:11

god wombling, I know just how you feel (had 2 with reflux - funnily enough, have never wanted any more children after the 2 of them arrghh )

you must push for that referral

also, there are different reflux meds (than the ranitidine and the gaviscon) that you may find work better

we found with one the gaviscon actually seemed to make it worse

but what made the difference in the end, was finding out that one had all sorts of allergies. May not be the case with yours - it may 'just' be reflux but keep an eye out if you get to weaning time and you haven't had the referral

many many many sympathies

womblingalong · 03/09/2007 22:12

Thanks for all the ideas everyone, I hope it is a growth spurt, but I fear not. I think the cranial osteopathy or a homeopath might be able to help . Will see if I can find a good one near me.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:12

Oooh foxy is here. Are you staying to play with the vegetables?

Boco · 03/09/2007 22:14

Oh thank you bee, you are good at this. 100/Anne, that'd be good - it's tricky because i became friends with her kind of as i designed her husbands business logo, then she gave me this commission, and she's taken me out for dinner and drinks and to her house and things, so it's not the same as just a person i'm doing something for - and the project for her is a long haul one which could keep coming back for a couple of years. And i always liked her apart from the vague nagging dislike of her whole countryside alliance type stuff. She sent me a version of this a few weeks ago, and it really grated on my nerves [http://www.funny-haha.co.uk/Joke.asp?J=944 i don't like it]]
The joke today was worse - the punch line involved drowning black people and homosexuals basically and i'd email it to you but wouldn't post it on here.

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:15

Oh god, you're working for a fascist. Hmm.

Boco · 03/09/2007 22:15

oops - the link to demonstrate the type of stuff that is grating

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:15

womble - i had cranial oestopathy for ds, he had colic - I am not sure if it worked but it was nice and I felt proactive 9which was really what I needed.)

are you in london?

foxinsocks · 03/09/2007 22:16

oh hundred, I'm sure you're being hard on yourself and your mates .

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:16

I can't usually ignore things like that, I tend to say my piece otherwise I think I'm condoning it. I'd still say, 'I hated your joke. It was horrible' in an email.

TooTicky · 03/09/2007 22:17

Dog material lunchboxes MrsC? That doesn't sound very hygienic. Is it legal?

Wombling, HUGE sympathies. I remember when my ds1 cried furiously for 4 weeks.

The fish has been barbecued and eaten. I'm quite relieved it's over. I had vegetable kebabs.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:18

100 - why do you have celeriac if you don't know what it is? How did you buy it or was it a surreal gift?

ahundredtimes · 03/09/2007 22:18

lol foxy.

Do stay. It's all very interesting here. Lots of them eat vegetables and know what to do with Celeriac and borage, and when we're not doing that, we are discussing rascist jokes and I am INCREDIBLY SENSIBLE here. You'll love it.

BBBee · 03/09/2007 22:19

TT - I htought you might end up too attached to the fish to BBQ it and you would have kept it forever.

TooTicky · 03/09/2007 22:21

Oh I couldn't have kept it. It was too dead and staring and I kept feeling sorry for it.

3andnomore · 03/09/2007 22:22

lol 100....no, not a fast typer or thinker ot anything...I often "cheat"...I write my post on notepad, whielst reading posts, so, can reply more individually!
Saying that, I do ramble on and am long winded...and am like that also in spoken conversation, but maybe you read faster then I write and think ;)
]
lol Mrs. C...what do you mean, lol!
Also, please post recipe of maroccan chickpeas, as that sounds very delicious

oh BBBee...surely your dd was just joking....if not tell it's her fault, because of teh holidays..that soon shut her up (and of course will get her terrified of the future...so am only joking, honest)

KF, I also love soups especially in the cold season I tend to just put anything and everything in sight in and it usually works out, somehow....I use stock cubes, mind and also, if to little flavour I use some soya sauce, etc...
Organic life yoghurts is also lovely in soup

Wombling, thank you for reminding me why I do not want any more babies of my own, as lovely as they are!

[wandering off to ponder if if I am to random maybe....emoticon]
