For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page.

lol. I quite fancied Kate for her as it happens, and YES ds2 is called Thomas. I know it's boring but I like it. Alot.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:16

Thomas is a good name. Not boring. Maybe Joseph for ds1?

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:18

No, I don't like that one. But it is Biblical. (I too have biblical jewish name - which is nice, given I come from a long line of atheists).

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 10:18

boco the real deal..I never used to mention it much but mn is helping me there..still not something I do in rl, though of course when i meet people from here it will be rl

it is possible not to do things in case a normal person wouldn't do them..aagh..mind games..every decision i make i analyse after thinking should i have

I am spending too much money i don't have but still think i am kind of justified

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:20

I like to think that your dd2 is called Veronica, after Veronica Lake and that you all call her Ron.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:24

100x are you called Haddassah? Batya? Shimret? or something more sensible - Hannah? Rachel? Rebecka?

DS1 must be Christopher.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:25

No. DD2 is not called Ron. She has a pretty name.

Your dd is called Emily.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:27

Zippi i'm glad mn is helping. This time last year my brother was staying with me for weeks - he was really ill, it was quite scary. Now he's got a new girlfriend, his job is going well and he seems really happy.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:29

No, but you're making your way through them very well. I liked Emily if ds1 was a girl, but I hated the way dh said it, so rejected it on those grounds.

Wouldn't have suited dd at all. She suits her name, it is a hairy name.

Yes, my name is Shimret.

I know your name.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:30

Christopher was never a contender.

Have you read An Unquiet Mind, Zippi and Boco?

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 10:33

oh mn is good..I actually meant it helps me to mention it occasionally, as I believe it should be non stigmatised except that in practice I conspire with the stigmatism/stigmatisation (??) as I don't tell people either..IYKWIM

glad your brother is good now

I have been very ill and it is not a nice place to be..neither is the fear of thinking you might be becoming ill

IdrisTheDragon · 05/09/2007 10:33

Anyone want to guess the names of DS and DD?

(Ds's middle name is Christopher, if that helps ).

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:34

How do you know my name [looks around nervously]

Hairy name? umm, Stig? Trucker? Jeff?

If i'd had a boy i liked Reuben. That's very jewish, i have a jewish last name. Together he'd have sounded like a rabbi.

DS1 is called Patrick.

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 10:34

yes i have i frequently recommend it on mn when the subject comes up..it is a good read too

I once bought a lot of copies of it and sent them to people (i was not incredibly well at the time )

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:37

From Facebook, you old sharer, you.

Yes, I like Reuben. DH liked Jonah.

Okay, your dds: Lillian, Iris, Ivy, Cristabel, Clara, Violet.

Definitely not Patrick.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:38

Idris, your children are called Ellie and Fred.

My friend just had a baby and sent me the pictures, - hes beautiful. They've called him Quinn - for me, i'd be nervous as it's too close to Quim, which is not a good name.

100 - Daniel?

Dp has probably read unquiet mind book.

ahundredtimes · 05/09/2007 10:39

I think it's a top book too Zippi. Worth reading Boco.

Idris - Isabelle and George.

TooTicky · 05/09/2007 10:42

Hey 100x, my dd2 gets called Ronni, but her name is not Veronica.

SK, do tell us more about schooling in Switzerland - I have visions of hordes of children singing and dancing on the mountainsides with flowers in their hair.

Avi, although home ed is wonderful in many ways I don't think school is a bad thing if it is nice and friendly and supportive - but so many are not. We are extremely lucky here.
I have eyed Meerkat Mail rather covetously in the children's bookshop. Unfortunately ds1 has finished his meerkat phase. He does do an excellent meerkat impression though.

Franny, is ds 4? I have found 4 to be a stressful age - they seem to get quite tired. Also, I suppose they are really moving away from being babies, which must be hard. Hard for you too of course. I think you just have to be as lovely as you can and when he is having a grotty moment, try to let it wash over you.

Boco · 05/09/2007 10:44

I couldn't read it now. Last year dp was ill too - worse than my brother, with depression. He had a spectacular break down and was hospitalised for weeks - awful time. Then i was his kind of carer for 6 months as he couldn't do much. Not great for a relationship, but he's better. Anyway, dp reads dark sounding books about melancholy and the human condition and it makes me cross as i want him to read light comedy and stop thinking about anything dark and sad. Unreasonable i know but I get scared. Shit i'm sharing again. And i'm late for my friend.

100x, if you're on facebook why are you not my friend? Look at my rabbit picture on the gallery of animated graffiti, i'm proud of him.

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 10:45

I am sure this is preaching to the converted and the very knowledgeable but I THINK A LOT OF THE SREAMING BADABS ARE DOWN TO BLOOD UGAR LEVELS DROPPING oh arse capitals

pinkspottywellies · 05/09/2007 10:46

Speaking of names - when we meet up are we going to have to a) learn who everyone is by thier MN name and then b) learn thier rl name and c) learn their dp and dc's names. Oh my goodness - it will be hard work!

zippitippitoes · 05/09/2007 10:46

that's be the screaming abdabs then blood sugar levels too low

pinkspottywellies · 05/09/2007 10:48

DD and I have had porridge with stewed plums and she had an apricot and I had some grapes and apple juice. Very nervous about today - meeting at work, needle in my arm, then quite drastic haircut. I actually feel quite sick. Can I just stay on here all day and chicken out of life for a while!?

MrsCarrot · 05/09/2007 10:51

ESTHER - oh please be Esther, 100X I love that name.

DD starts year 1 tomorrow. She has been excited about it since july. In cornwall a whole climbing frame full of children stopped dead in their tracks as she stood up and announced that she hated the school holidays. Sje looked around and said, what? I can't wait for year 1.

Franny - I was delighted to see you call your ds an arse, you didn't do it his face. I think most people feel like that but you don't show that side on here much, it is refreshing. I feel I paint a somewhat apple fresh view of my parenting on here sometimes. I actually shout. A lot. It is a problem in our household and I try to address it. It makes me feel shit and like my mother.

MrsCarrot · 05/09/2007 10:52

yes, blood sugar levels and overstimulation in our case. I shudder if I have forgotten to take a snack when I collect dd from school.
