For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Red dripping hands are good for scaring children with.

TooTicky · 26/08/2007 11:49

Sorry! I don't mean small and vulnerable ones obviously, just cynical 8yo ones who give a half-hearted scream and then say , "O Mu-um!" In That tone of voice.

TooTicky · 26/08/2007 11:50

Sainsbury's are evil. But not as evil as Tesco. Have you heard about the turtles? I'd better start a thread...

FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2007 12:50

LOL at scaring children

a friend of ours discovered a mulberry tree in nearby gardens and asked permission to pick and eat them. They are SO delicious you can hardly believe it, but you get utterly utterly utterly covered in juice which gets stuck all round your nails and makes you look terrifying.

This is really sad but I have kind of written instructions on how to bulk cook. If you are interested I can email it to you. It's rather too long to post on here.

Avi in our defence it is quite a famous line

am not total film anorak

When playing a charade type board game I once had to mime milk. I still blush to think of it. It was before I had ds as well

Soup (onion, garlic, courgette, yellow pepper, lentils, potato, chard, carrot) sort of inspired by Tatties' sag aloo. 4ish portions.

BBBee · 26/08/2007 16:29

4 plums
1 apple
prawn and avocado salad (about 3)

I think I am doing rather well.

BBBee · 26/08/2007 16:37

plums are so good at the moment - victoria plums. They are half price lots of places - I have eaten almost a whole punnet now.

FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2007 16:54

I am Bulk Cooking

dp is clearing out the spare room so that HC's dd2 can sleep in there

we are driving each other bonkers and the house is a complete and utter wreck

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2007 16:55

and I want to go to the gy-ymmmmm [wail] but I can't because due to long and boring reasons I have had to cook one thing before the other, rather than cooking them in tandem. And it is taking forever.

TooTicky · 26/08/2007 17:50

Franny, I can't open the file

Dcs have been creating recycled art for a competition. It has been hectic and we are all, I think, wearing some glue. Ds1 has an artistic temperament and has screamed like a banshee for various reasons. When he started singing ds2 screamed like a banshee. I have the start of a headache.

FrayedKnot · 26/08/2007 18:39

I've just got rid of my second freezer so stop all this talk of bulk cooking!

It does sound v. sensible - I otoh often find myself hovering by the hob at about 5pm wondering what to cook for supper (we eat at about 5.45 usually).

I've had a pretty good day today

Sultanas
Apple
Peach
Huge salad of mixed leaves, cucumber, pepper
Two small baked sweet potatoes
Peas
Carrots
Butternut squash

Wow I think I may have made the 10!

I have also cycled with DS to the park - much more confidently this time and almost all off-road as I have devised a new route

FrannyandZooey · 26/08/2007 18:51

FK fantastic! Hoorah How are you feeling with all this healthy living?

TooT sorry about that - I will send it again as inline text

I am aiming to set the meet up date tonight so any last comments please send them now or forever hold your peace

I cooked lots of soup, and lots of bulgar wheat pilaff too. Ate soup - courgettes, turnips, parsnips, carrots, onions, red lentils. Didn't get to gym and it shuts early on Sundays

I blardy love Withnail and I! And it mentions carrots so it's very apt

Have eaten lots of salad and strawberries today and have rather sunburned shoulders after a day messing about by a river and bbq. Oh and rather a lot of Pimms but with apples and orange and cucumber in so that's alright then

ds2 has a friend over for an optimistically-named sleepover.

TooTicky · 26/08/2007 19:34

Grapes and plums. I made scones and they just disappeared within moments. It was quite scary. Still, everybody seems more cheerful now.

Tatties · 26/08/2007 19:39

Hello ds is in bed... he has had a very excitable day with aunties and NO NAP... it could be a bad night again...

Anyway on the bright side, today I have had: OJ, dates, clementine, apple, banana, raisins, spinach in sag aloo and lentils in dahl. That's not bad.

Franny - shame you didn't get to the gym. Did you get your house sorted? If it's not too much trouble I wouldn't mind having a look at your bulk cooking guide too... there may be some knitting scraps in it for you

Tatties · 26/08/2007 19:41

Mmmmm scones

I have to say, I have tried watching Withnail & I a couple of times but I have never got very far... I just didn't get it

Today I have mostly been eating greengages. Delicious. Also large salad for lunch.

Mouse - not appeared yet. I think it might come out at night.

Have been cleaning my house like a mad woman. I have been shamed by the mouse. DCs have been rolling about the place, a bit bored and niggly. 'Stop moaning' I said, 'hoover the stairs. This is what we are doing today.'

I want to bulk cook too. But is it all soup? Hmm? Is it?

I think my dcs are 10/10ers you know. They have hoovered up all the fruit I bought yesterday. I have had to hide the strawberries and greengages and oranges. They are having traffic light fruit skewers for tea.

I have turned into a vision of Domestic Perfection over night.

TooTicky · 26/08/2007 19:49

100x you have shamed me. This house is a tip. There is clutter everywhere despite me constantly putting things away. And there is dust. I can't hoover because the blasted machine coughs dust at me which I swear makes me ill for 2 days. Dp does it less thoroughly than I would and under duress.

ahundredtimes · 26/08/2007 19:59

But TT, I just posted that as I was serving up their food. Have you SEEN the time? No wonder they were moaning - it's so late.

Still. You can't have it all. Cleaning and food, right?

Also, my house is STILL a tip I think. We have so much stuff. Where did it all come from? I want Muji minimalism. I went to Homebase and bought lots of plastic boxes. I told dh I was going to sort out the cellar. He laughed and said, 'It'd be better if you started in the kitchen wouldn't it?'
