For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I have HC here so have been neglecting you all

our children are upstairs refusing to go to sleep - we were eavesdropping on them on te monitor and they just sang a duet of Twinkle Twinkle together

Have eaten an apple, few salad bits at lunch, avocado, beetroot, then bulgar wheat with peppers and mushrooms, and some green salad for dinner.

Has she expressed breathless amazement at the spare room though?

Boco · 28/08/2007 20:46

Butternut squash, broccoli, tomato, nectarine, peach, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries.

I think 8\10 is the best i can manage today. Did eat an awful lot of brown rice.

The children have only just gone to bed, they were exhausting. I'm sneezing, and i have toothache, dp is cleaning silently and with a look of disappointment. I'm going to have a bath and feel grumpy.

FrayedKnot · 28/08/2007 20:49

100x I am so relieved to hear DD is OK

fmv that sounds like the most frightening experience so pleased DS came through it without any problems.

Boco, how is your eye, btw? Keep meaning to ask. Sorry about toothache.

Franny they will not go to sleep for aaaages yet, you do realize that, don;t you

Superfoods - well I might start this week anyway I don;t mind just trying, I don;t want it to get all competitive [liar]

Dried fruit & pumpkin seeds in cereal
Grapes
Salad with leaves, pepper, cucumber
Big salad for supper with leaves, carrots, toms, cucumber, peppers, celery

Will have more fruit shortly

Pushed DS on his trike up a very big hill

I'm not drinking any coffee at all and having green tea instead

Frankly I feel fab, have so much energy and not having so much in the way of sluggish dips during the day.

If I fall off the wagon with all this, would one of you please stand me up against the wall and read this post out to me again, whilst brandishing a potato peeler in a slightly menacing way?

Thanks.

Oh and someone at owrk commented on how they thought I had lost weight and looked good

Boco · 28/08/2007 21:10

Not too bad FK, thanks for asking - was given drops that helped so not red and sore anymore, and don't feel like i've got something in my eye - but the weird raised area is still in my eye and might always be.

I'm incredibly moany and neurotic aren't I! [awful reality dawning emoticon]

ahundredtimes · 28/08/2007 21:17

No you're not Boco. You have toothache. Nobody can function normally with toothache.

Go to a dentist. Or I shall personally come round and pour large amounts of clove oil down your throat, and you'll be sick and you'll think, 'get her out of my house, why does she keep looking at my cookery books.'

Poor you. Have a bath. Ignore the meaningful cleaning. Is your dp tall? He looks a bit like my dh - only younger - and he's tall.

Boco · 28/08/2007 21:24

Yes, he's 6'3 - so pretty tall. You have very good photo analysis skills don't you - i'd still like to know how you looked at my dds and decided that the little one was like me and the big one like dp. [spooky lady]

Dp now hoovering upstairs, at 9.21pm - right next to where girls are sleeping, to make the general point that everything needs to be taken in hand. (girls had a painting day today - there is creative mess, but he's hoovering)

ahundredtimes · 28/08/2007 21:37

I don't know why I thought it, just that dd2 really had something of you in her face, I'm not sure what. I pour over other people's photographs - I love them.

I might put a picture of my kitchen sofa on my profile. If I had a profile that is.

Oh go have a bath. DH does this, he sweeps when guests come as you know, then he suddenly starts cleaning up when its messy, he sighs, and is grumpy and does accusatory shelf clearing. I ignore it.

FrayedKnot · 28/08/2007 21:57

Franny I expect you are chinwagging with HC but I have replied to you about teh meet up

Boco my DH would tell you I am the world's greatest hypochondriac but that is because he is the world's greatest martyr

NotReallyHerePossum · 28/08/2007 21:58

raisins, melon, plums, nectarine, borlotti bean salad with lettuce, cucumber, fennel, celery, avocado - I think I just about made 10 today, hurrah! However, no exercise as such - boo, hiss.
100x, glad your DD is ok, how worrying for you.
LL, you should write your won recipe book.
Chortle at Man Clearing Up in Accusatory Manner - DH has been known to look aghast/puzzled at how I and a small person can create such chaos in the space of a day. Then he feeds LO bits of banana and melon as LO wanders about (I inisist on highchair for food) and offers LO toys, hence carpet, sofa, cushions, twiddly toys, all have to be cleaned of fruit debris ... I don't think he realises quite how much work goes into making the home look merely like a bombsite, as oppsed to the major ecological diasaster that it really is at 4pm, and that I get twitchy when any unnecssary extra cleaning is created - high chairs and bibs were invented for a sound reason.
Looking on the bright side LO is genuinely terrified of the hoover so that's one less appliance i have to use
In fact, I am currently sorting out a cleaning lady - is that one of those dark secrets you don't mention on 10/10?

FrayedKnot · 28/08/2007 22:12

Possum you could pretend your cleaning lady is a grape.

FrannyandZooey · 28/08/2007 22:25

I have learnt (and HC has learnt by proxy) why it is Not A Good Idea to eat a punnet of blueberries after breakfast.

We have opened some windows.

Thanks for your help on the trousers front. M&S allegedly have cotton school trousers this year but do not appear to stock them anywhere. Or have them online. Or be able to communicate with other branches. Which is a shame as they are really working on their ethics. The eczema places charge £22 a pair so will go in search of John Lewis.

I have not eaten 10 today. No point even pretending.

Earlier, I playfully (and foolishly) tapped ds1 on the arm and said, "Tag!". He gave me a thoughtful look, dipped his finger into his drink of water, then threw the water over me. He had tagged the water, you see. Ho hum.

TooTicky · 28/08/2007 22:50

Oh poop. John Lewis do their sizing in waist measurements. How big are extremely skinny 5yo boys around their middles? He's only just growing out of his age 3 trousers, bless him, he'll be 6 in October.

TooTicky · 28/08/2007 22:56

Fine. You all just go to bed and ignore me. I don't care. I have my toast for company.

Boco · 28/08/2007 23:03

Oh i want to help Toot i really do. Just, small. My skinny 5 year old girl is too small for her new uniform, which i bought without her trying it on, and she was so excited she put it on, and it fell back off.

TooTicky · 28/08/2007 23:18

Good thing she tried it out before the first day back

TooTicky · 28/08/2007 23:20

Clothes fall off ds2 all the time. He even has a way of standing that makes coats fall off if they're not zipped up to his neck. But then, he enjoys being naked.

boco - does she have a pinafore thing - they do not fall off and are charmingly edwardian. also go the the dentist FFS - I could be all nice and understanding as I did what you did for years but is not the best plan. Go - no amount of fruit and vegetables can cure toothache.

I would love to see your kitchen sofa in your profile 100 - I don;t have a profile either but if you post that I shall post something equslly random.

Avi - what are you studying or is it a secret?

F&Z and HC - I hope ou are having a wonderful time - did you first meet on a mumsnet meet up?

TT- the trousrers! oh no oh god - it seems so easy but is oh so hard. My son had exacting specifications about trousers (not adjustable waist, no front fastener) and that too is impossible to find. Am off to search as is some kind of challenge anneka type mission.

I wish you all posted on the 'how did yu meet your dp' thread - I love that stuff.

I love it when I see 10/10ers on other threads - I feel all familiar.

(Boco - go to the bloody dentist)

avi - I think you are the most sophisticated person I knows.

BBBee · 28/08/2007 23:56

is it for personal interest or a career move?

BBBee · 29/08/2007 00:03

have any 10/10ers posted on this thread apart from pruners and F&Z? (about how you met ouy dp)

I am:

a) very nosy and want to know
b) very lazy and can't be bothered to read the whole thing

I thank you.
