For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Well done you. At least it's sort of concretely out that it's an odd thing even though she must have known that, HEARING it will help, hopefully. Even if it's just that their DD might actually tell someone about it.

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 22:57

I do like Naomi btw MrsC.

FrayedKnot · 20/08/2007 22:58

Boco

thank you for reminding me about Emil.

I loved Emil!

I have had 2 apples & off to bed.

BBBee · 20/08/2007 23:09

I am glad I am not sleeping in the officers tent - it sounds debauched.

I have had:

6 apples (6)
orange juice (1)
big salad for lunch (4)
marrow (1)
peas (1)
leeks (1)
carrot (1)

and only one cup of coffee.

I win. I am of course the queen today.

And can I just add that rose and geranium chocolate sounds like it comes from heaven.

Boco - am kind of glad you bought it up - I don't like it because it sounds a bit out of control. At least she will know how weird it is.

Am not really jealous of the gym membership or equipment, but doubled over in jealousy at the notion of people having space to put gym stuff in their house.

Dr. Avi - have decaff primed and ready to go int he morning - it is so much the process it really is.

MrsC- you are now in my phone undr MrsC and for some reason (namely I do not know how to work my phone) you are on speed dial number 9 so I can call you up by accident when I sit on my phone.

BBBee · 20/08/2007 23:11

Emil - are we talking about that little boy in the stories or am I off topic again?

BBBee · 20/08/2007 23:12

any news from LL?

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 23:13

Yes, the little boy who carved little wooden men when he was shut in the toolshed for being naughty.

TooTicky · 20/08/2007 23:13

No, no news.

Tatties · 20/08/2007 23:24

Ok, I have had: raisins, banana, raw carrot, minestrone with celery, carrot, lentils, tomatoes, leek, OJ, plum, grapes and raspberries. How's that?

I worried about the gym, it's so not 'me', but tbh, mine isn't very poncey at all, and I just go in and do what I want to do and don't bother with what other people are doing or what they look like. I am overjoyed to discover how a very short spell at the gym can make you feel great. Tonight I did ten minutes on the cross trainer and a ten minute swim (then a blissful hot shower...) For me it's about getting some time to myself as well - it's good for the mind and soul as well as body.

I know what chocolate you are all on about, it is divine isn't it!

zippitippitoes · 21/08/2007 08:25

hi

hope LL is ok

I'm determined that saturday was the last day for tears...

I'm still doing well with the exercise and going to have breakfast gym and swim and have a brickie coming at 12.00

I know this thread isn't about weight loss but I'm on target for 11 stone at the end of august just about

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 08:38

Morning zippi, good to have you back. You can come and sniffle here anytime if you need to, we won't tell.

Tatties and BBB, superb, keep it up. BBB that is just jealousy speaking about the officers' tent. You know you want to come in and be debauched with the rest of us. There's Hooch and chocolate and all sorts.

On the A. Lindgren front, I've been reading Pippi Longstocking this morning at ds's request. Other than that, he's been playing with playdough since we woke up so I have got vast amounts of things done around the house. Well, vast for me. We haven't had any breakfast, but I've washed my hair.

Same rules as yesterday - 10 f+v and 10 mins exercise for EVERYONE, or it's the glasshouse for you

Boco I think you did just the right thing about the bath. And well done on the 9, but I am disappointed in your lack of commitment on the chewing front.

OP posts:
BBBee · 21/08/2007 08:41

just rushing arouind packing and booking stuff mindlessly - had to nip in.

Zippi - really good to see you - we all wondred how you were.

F&Z - we all know it is debauched and you are hand picking your favourites - I am flouncing off to Edinburgh now to eat deep fried mars bars.

FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 08:42

Boco I am 35 and I only started going regularly to the gym last year. They are very kind to old housewife ladies and usually have dashing young men to show you what to do.

Dolly I used to nanny for a family with twins and the double buggy was a bloody workout all in itself.

TooT did you have to sell the books in the end? Sorry I was ruddy all use.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 21/08/2007 08:43

BBB your sins will find you out. A searingly satirical comedian will pick on you from the stage and you will slink out feeling low.

(hope you have a good time )

OP posts:
TooTicky · 21/08/2007 08:53

Franny, I still have the Karlssons
I do, however, have a box of books which I have decided not to keep and would like to sell but they are sitting by the kitchen gathering crumbs as I am too scared to take them anywhere (still scarred by last time...). Plus, the ignominy of having to struggle out with such a heavy box and dd2 tucked under my arm under any scornful stares would be more than I could bear. Sorry, I'm wittering.

Am currently eating this year's entire plum harvest. 3 plums.

TooTicky · 21/08/2007 08:54

Zippi

SaggyPossum · 21/08/2007 09:11

Zippi, from me too. Hmmm, a visit from a brickie at midday sounds like life's looking up

anyone know where I can buy a bumper pack of cotton bibs with string ties round the neck? All I can find are ones with velcro, which DS just rips off with a flourish. I need old fashioned bibs, not this high tech velcro malarky, what do they think bibs are, the new trainers?

MrsCarrot · 21/08/2007 10:21

Morning. I have not had a good nights sleep. DD took ages to drop off, she said it was a bit scary the first night of having a fringe then she came in at 3am to remind me that I said we would have pancakes this morning. I fear I was less patient than I could have been. Then Lo thought 5am was the new getting up time. I did not agree.

Banana, redcurrant and raspberry smoothie so far, apple and kiwi to come in a minute.

BBBee - Did you really eat six apples? I'm sure that would earn a place in the top tent! If you do get tempted by a mars bars I'm sure fate would have it that you do speed dial me and I can report a distinct sound of rustling and chomping back to Sir. Have fun.

Astrid is indeed a good name. I wondered whether DD would like Pippi Longstocking, it's such good fun getting out all the things that were favourites as a child, though a little disappointing if they don't love it as much.

pinkspottywellies · 21/08/2007 10:24

Oh no! I'm late for boot camp!

Been with my mum in sunny Wiltshire for the weekend (waved at Toot (it is you who's down there isn't it?) and 100x driving down the M4) F&V intake reasonable. Ish.
Only had raisins so far this morning and have no food in the house at all let alone fresh stuff! Will go shopping this afternoon and then get serious!
I haven't caught up with the thread yet but did glance through and see 'troll or scorned wife'. What's been going on in my absence?

SauerKraut · 21/08/2007 10:24

I am late, sir, week of visitors, sir.
But f and v- loving visitors. I have had mountains. I won't do so well now they've gone!
Today so far I have had a nectarine, a banana, tomato and avocado.
And I finally realised why my breakfast coffee left me too jittery and full up to bother with anything else- my pot is meant for six people!!! I have now been out to buy a 2-person one.

Hello all,

Zippi you're back , avi, so glad the kitchen was a success.

I love the name Astrid, and Astrid Lindgren, I got the bullerby children book from our local oxfam, and it is so lovely, and I adored Pippi when I was little.

For bibs - try boots basics range, or asda.

I have to say rose and geranium choc sounds heavenly, I will check out local deli for supplies.

Brekkie today: Cranberries, cherries and raisins. Not much fruit in house, so will have to venture to shops.

Have done 5 mins of lunges and squats while bfing DS, he is insatiable at the moment. Will go out for walk in rain with baby later on.
