For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Oh Tatties the hat is cute! I am always on the mooch here, but if you ever have any 'leftover' bits of knitting (just small squares that you were practising on, or something) then the babies would LOVE them for the treasure baskets. All expenses paid

Frances, post away, I am not twitchy about pics of the boys being up. (Thanks for asking, though.)

NotQuiteCockney · 01/08/2007 21:00

The boys are still up.

But I have done a lot of packing (ok, "putting in piles", to-may-to, to-mah-to), and kept a list of what I've done, and sorted out most of my list of people I must take phone numbers for.

Lullabyloo · 01/08/2007 21:08

Two pictures from NQC's visit here

lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:10

Of course it's a penguin, Franny, no explanation needed. I bought one of those books for DS as well. He said, "Oh that's good because I have always wanted to know how to draw a turtle!" Oh, to be 5.

Are you having a belated Christmas, NQC, is that the idea?

When I used to smoke my nieces would sidle up to me and say things like, "You know going to die 7 minutes earlier because of that cigarette, don't you?"

Wish they'd given me a star chart instead.

FrannyandZooey · 01/08/2007 21:10

Lullaby oh blimey

your FINGERS are turning black and you can't see anyone till the 11th

is there any way you could go private?

OP posts:
lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:12

Lullaby, this is just wrong.

pinkspottywellies · 01/08/2007 21:12

Today I ate 2 celebrations - a bounty coconut, and a snickers peanuts. That was breakfast - in a rush getting dd ready to take to mil's for the day. Then cucumber and tomato in sandwich. Lemon bonbon, various fruit jellies (yummy vegan ones, they're all gooey) then spag bol which I guess contained tomato at the very least. Oh and an apple, no a real one not a sweet!

Dolly, I can't keep my hands out of the sweets and quite frankly make no attempt to!! Luckily I only work there occasionally now and not 2 days a week like I used to! I am going to have some chocolate covered orange peel next week. It is devine! We do mail order if anyone wants the number It's a lovely little old fashioned shop with glass jars and a till that goes 'ding'.

Hope TooT's having a lovely time and good luck with your packing NQC. Hope you enjoy your hols.

Franny - how's the pub job going? Is there a thread still going about it? Sorry if I've missed something on here but still haven't caught up properly and need to go to bed ready for 6am start!

Boco, sending get well vibes to dp and I hope you get home soon.

Don't know what I'll manage to eat tomorrow in a YOI, I'll let you know...

lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:13

I was going to suggest that too.

Your Gp might be able to refer you to a private consultant, or you could phone BUPA.

Lullabyloo · 01/08/2007 21:16

that is private

nhs could be months

FrannyandZooey · 01/08/2007 21:18

Oh god! Oh Lullaby

OP posts:
lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:19

Bloody hell.

pinkspottywellies · 01/08/2007 21:19

Sorry, was really slow then. Hadn't seen your post LL. Sounds pretty awful. If it's been getting worse perhaps you could go back to the GP - keep pestering. Unfortunately you often only get looked after if you shout loudest (metaphorically!)

Love the penguin! And the photos of the fruit demolishing boys!

My dd was eating an apricot the other days at a friends house while the other 2 babies were eating biscuits and my friend said 'she likes her fruit doesn't she' as if that was really odd

pinkspottywellies · 01/08/2007 21:20

Sorry again, really slow

lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:21

Lullaby, you didn't have the black finger and loss of sensation when you saw your GP did you?

Is is worth phoning NHS direct about the latest developments?

Or does your consultant have a contact number?

Agree with everyone. This isn't right LL, can you make a vast fuss?

OP posts:
lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:24

Sorry, I'm firing questions [worried emoticon].

Lullabyloo · 01/08/2007 21:27

Gp was horrified before hand trouble....but at a loss...so asked to be referred
went again today & he suggested going back to A&E.......& so it goes on.
Am not going tonight....cant face it again...going back first thing

FrannyandZooey · 01/08/2007 21:28

oh yes DO go to A+E, in the morning if you can't face it tonight

I am so sorry Lullaby How is dh being atm?

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 01/08/2007 21:41

Yes, A+E please! I thought it was mostly a leg thing you had?

Yes, we are having a late Xmas, my father feels posting gifts is pointless, and I do mostly agree.

lionheart · 01/08/2007 21:47

I hope you can go to A&E tomorrow, Lullaby.

Not too much sense in spending a fortune on postage. Hope the belated xmas extends to the feast part of the proceedings as well. I customs going to be a nightmare?

pinkspottywellies · 01/08/2007 21:51

Franny, have you seen this thread? Someone's asking about heuristic play.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/08/2007 21:53

No no, they never buy anything that expensive, anyway. It's all small stuff.

I don't know what will happen re: feast, we were meant to go to a fire-fighter themed restaurant that the boys would have loved, but it has closed, so we are just going out for a meal. It will all be strange, but I appreciate that my dad is trying to make new traditions, since my mom's death.
