For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Have been out for a bike ride, and watched a Falun Gong marching band for a while. As you do.

DH has got more things to do, so won't be getting out early today. Might be very late. Once again, I wish I was . But I'm not.

At least I had a very good night's sleep, and feel much more able to cope. Planning no sugar at all today. Probably gazpatcho for lunch, might make some more ratatouille for tea?

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 12:22

LOL NQC - what is it? (Falun Gong)

Your post made me realise I've been off sugar all week and didn't have the awful withdrawal I usually get. Cool. Unless I am forgetting loads of biscuits I have scoffed or something?

FMF oh no! I understand why you felt bad. What else could you have done, though, you did ask?

Zippi at young man getting you fit in a more interesting way. I think climbing sounds great. Shame I hate heights.

I keep explaining Falun Gong to people today. From what I know, it's a tae chi ish religion/cult/social organisation in china, banned by the government. I don't know why they have a marching band. They played Beethoven. It was weird.

Marching bands are unusual in the UK, right?

The group was mostly chinese, but some were german, and at least one of their cars was dutch.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2007 12:25

There were police horses watching the marching band, too. And DS2 was more interested in watching the band, than saying 'hi' to the horses. I clearly must take them to more musical things.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 18:41

Had a salad. Not very large. Baked beans and kidney beans for lunch. Shared an apple and an orange with ds, and will probably have some more fruit later.

Still no DH. I am nauseated and tired and annoyed.

Oh, but I do have an email asking whether he should try to get it all done tonight, or whether he should do some tomorrow.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2007 18:43

I might make some ratatouille tonight, I have the ingredients, and then I can eat that all weekend. The kids are having fish and chips for dinner, but I can't face it. I had an ice cream this afternoon, and felt quite poorly afterwards.

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2007 18:47

Oh, he is apparently leaving at 7pm, no matter what.

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2007 18:47

I have done all my exercise at once today...we got horribly lost on our walk (there were loads of us) Been walking from 11.30am til half an hour ago. Must. Lie. Down....

NotQuiteCockney · 03/08/2007 18:54

Hmmm, that sounds ... refreshing? Did you have kids with you all day? What ages?

filthymindedvixen · 03/08/2007 19:02

a toddler in a pushcahir (which we had to carry a lot as the path so was so bad) ) and eight others and four adukts. Though one of th adults was a complete PITA (I'm wearing flipflops so I can'r help carry the toddler..I might slip...shriek! a wasp! OMG Cows! I'm scared of cows etc etc)

It was a beautiful day but I cannot move now.

Lullabyloo · 03/08/2007 19:10

hello chaps
not been on as awful pain in upper left hand side of my back developed...cant bear to bend, stretch, can't lift ds which is really difficult.....finger not black though...sort of purpleish & not so painful
Dr was v.worried that back pain was lung pain & maybe mobile clot...but baffled at finger as clots to hand would come from a different source
So.... have had many examinations today & lots of blood tests at last ...finally people seem to be taking me seriously(probably cos I broke down & howled cos I'm so sick of not knowing & feeling scared & crap)
Hopefully something will show up as a result...the 11th seems such a long way off.
Havn't read thread but hello to everybody, hope you are all ok
ds ate his weight in blackberries today...the hedgerows are bursting with them....tis early...no?

lionheart · 03/08/2007 19:23

Phew, Lullaby, we were worried about you. Will they contact you if they figure it out before the 11th?

Blackberries haven't ripened around here. I have my eye on some.

fmv, OUCH, but your post was funny.

Lullabyloo · 03/08/2007 19:24

i hope so
i hate all this....i dont 'do' ill very well
i just want to know what's wrong & deal with it

pinkspottywellies · 03/08/2007 20:17

LL it's good to hear from you. I've been thinking of you! Glad to hear they're taking it seriously now and hope you get sorted out soon.

DollyPopsOut · 03/08/2007 20:38

Hope you get it sorted soon LL and start to feel better.

So far today - celery, carrots, tomato salsa, er ice cream . Have made a whole load of roasted veg for supper though if DH ever comes home. He is hobbling terribly bless him!

Am going to buy some fit flops tomorrow in an effort to make my legs fit and gorgeous. Anyone tried them? I think I might be making a hugely expensive mistake but am a sucker for these gimmicks.

lionheart · 03/08/2007 20:48

What are they, Dolly?

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 21:40

LL, so sorry you are still no further along in discovering what it is. I am glad they are looking into it and hope the tests show something soon. Is there anything we can do to help divert you or let you offload on here? Offer of someone to cry on phone to is still here if it would help in any way.

Dolly I have heard of them - not sure if I am convinced. Squats are good for your calves - with a fit ball if you have one - and almost any exercise good for toning legs - walking, running, cycling, dancing, step, etc

Have eaten apple and orange. Am getting psyched up for my second appearance at the pub tomorrow. Someone asked how it went - sorry, been a hectic week. I will try to find the thread tomorrow and post on it - called something like "help I seem to have got a job as a pub entertainer"

Hello all. Am back from Germany. We met Euromaus. All was well. We have eaten Theme Park Shit apart from some very nice Pizzas one day in Italy section of the park. Still, no F&V though.

How are you all? Should I read thread? Is LL any better? Boco back?

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 21:48

100 I was just thinking about you

how was it, c'mon, we need ALL the details

yes Boco is back

LL has had problems with circulation in her hand and also severe back pain had a load of tests today, awaiting results and can't see specialist until 11th

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 21:48

NO f+v? Have you scurvy?

OP posts:
Boco · 03/08/2007 21:49

LL how awful, sorry you're feeling so ill - hope you feel better and get some answers really soon.

Franny hope it goes well tomorrow - was it ok? Will look out for thread.

Went to a soft play place today which was horrid - especially as such a lovely day, but was for good reason. Twin friends of dds - their mum died of cancer, and their dad has just been killed in a car accident - and they're only 4! Their dads girlfriend is leaving - don't think she can cope - he died last month. Spent the whole time feeling very choked, poor little girls.

Friends coming from london for the weekend which i'm really looking forward to - lots of nice food and going to a music day with them.

Boco · 03/08/2007 21:51

Oh hello 100x yes i'm back. I nearly came to Bath, but dp was ill. I sent out an urgent message to persuade you to come and rescue me from inlaws where i was stranded longer than necessary but you were away.

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2007 21:53

Boco, oh god, oh god Who is looking after the girls?

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 03/08/2007 21:54

Oh no. I so would have come and rescued you too. Would have pitched up in our beaten up car and you could all have clambered in and we'd have driven off, laughing wildly, round and round the outskirts of Bristol. Drat.

Have done a thread on Europapark. But it's a bit boring - the thread - as I'm very tired and can't be arsed to be funny. We have friends pitching up here at midnight (they think). Have to stay awake. Aaagh.

What a sad story Boco. Who will look after the twins now?
