For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

I'm not eating nutella on white toast honestly. I'm eating veg sticks

Been to the market today so have had salad (beetroot, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, cress, artichoke etc etc) and jacket tate for tea, nectarine, lettuce and cucumber in sandwich, peach and pomegranate (sp?) ice drink at starbucks... and peanut butter and nutella on toast!

MrsC the buggy will be fine! Hope you enjoy the wedding.

Midnight soup sounds delicious. I'll have to try it. I'm going to make lentil moussaka tomorrow. I wanted to do it today but dd is being really clingy and I couldn't get in the kitchen!

I wish I had summer holidays to look forward to - I feel like every day's the same at the minute. An endless round of food and clearing up after food and nappies and milk and start all over again tomorrow!

I won't get my HP book til Sunday My SIL very kindly offered to get it online along with theirs and months ago I agreed, not realising the logistics of such a kind act! Argh! Party in a castle sounds good Franny!

I am having a glass of wine

The veg box has been great for diversifying our veg intake again. Things like broad beans and pointed cabbage, I would just never buy for some reason, but when they come in the veg box I just think of something to do with them and they get eaten - it's great.

Franny are your plums nice, ours are lovely, they look smell and taste DIVINE

( I have a gym induction tomorrow )

Tatties · 20/07/2007 21:51

Avi - It's bean a chard maize night - oh yes! Excellent

PinkPotterWeasleys · 20/07/2007 22:01

Yes avi - love the title!

lionheart · 20/07/2007 22:03

Very good title indeed.

TheChamberofCarrots · 20/07/2007 22:26

Thanks - pushchair drying off now

TooTicky · 21/07/2007 00:20

Have eaten borshch (at least 3 portions) and ratatouille with puy lentils (2 or 3 portions). Some apple. Bit of plum.

Have been reading hilariously funny book to dd1 and ds1 - too good to put down - we finished it at midnight
(Agent Z and the killer bananas by Mark Haddon in case anyone's interested).

Having late night peanut butter fix.

Papillon · 21/07/2007 00:25

FMV you mud wrestle, go girl! Lots of mud here in NZ from constant downpour this past week, so if you fancy jumping off our fence and sliding down the field in the mud you are most welcome!

Now, if I think of a title will I get my name in caps like Greeny??

Off to pick persimons later

FirenzeandZooey · 21/07/2007 08:13

Good morning

am excited here in the F&Z household for reasons we can't mention out of deference to lionheart

haven't had breakfast yet as am furiously rereading parts of previous 6 books

where is Filly? FILLLLLLY! Nobody is talking about sprouts, or whatever it was you didn't like....

OP posts:
lionheart · 21/07/2007 08:28
Hmm
lionheart · 21/07/2007 08:42

Besides which, my Lord Voldemort will triumph in the end.

TheChamberofCarrots · 21/07/2007 09:09

It is big, and meaty and smooth and DS1 is VERY excited, not that we've read the last one yet, but you know, being part of the moment!

DH said the film was a bit much for him in parts, and he's nearly ten! God knows how all those four year olds will cope maybe it will go over their heads

raspberries blueberries on my cereal. Wonder what I'll be able to eat from the buffet today, the salad probably, maybe some crisps. Better take my oatcakes.

Filchymindedvixen · 21/07/2007 10:35

Am trying to work out when we can see the film. Gave failed miserably t find time to re-read the last book so I will probably feel very confused. Had wierd dreams about hitting people in WHSmiths last night...off to Asda to see if they hve any cheapy ones left.

Pancakes for breakfast..with, erm, lemon and >sugar!

TheChamberofCarrots · 21/07/2007 10:37

ours was 8.99, is it cheaper elsewhere?

Lullabyloo · 21/07/2007 14:05

mrs c....£5 in Asda & Morrisons
still havn't got mine

so far...
pear,peach,apricot,banana smoothie
vanilla barley porridge

carrot & almond soup & avocado,spring onion,sugar snap pea,rocket,little gem,pumpkin seed salad.

DollyPopsOut · 21/07/2007 14:18

Have dispatched DH to brixton for a copy... can't wait to get stuck in. I too meant to reread last one but failed miserably and so will not know who most of them are.

So far, had plums, raspberries, blueberries. And some yummy gazpacho for lunch. Could really do with being near the sea with a sherry in my hand rather than in S london watching the rain but you can't have it all.

Have been 10/10 for nearly a week now and feel good, despite rather a lot of choc and cake on day 3. It is quite easy if you eat fruit for breakfast and lots of veggies at lunch. Don't feel any thinner (although I realise that's not the point, it would have been a nice side effect ) but feel somehow cleaner and lighter. Am evangelising to RL people who think I am mad. They are right as a rule, of course, but not about this .

lionheart · 21/07/2007 14:29

Chinese lanterns (sweetened), bowl of sliced ackees, half a breadfruit, jicamas, curubas and kudzus so far.

Oh, not forgetting the cherimoyas.

lionheart · 21/07/2007 14:30

Papillon, NZ in a downpour sounds lovely. Does it never flood there?

Malfoynomore · 21/07/2007 15:05

Oh pink, please could you share the recipe for Lentil Moussaka, please...I bought loads of dried pulses, including lentils, and am sort of stuck what to do with them, lol!
And sorry you are feeling somewhat low....motherhood can be draining and ratehr repetitive at times....lets just hope the weatehr will get better...that would help, wouldn't it!

Tatties, good luck wiht teh Gym Induction

Oh tooticky, I love Bortsch, and have found a recipe in one of my cookery books but it's sort of one of those long complicated and fancy ones....is yours maybe an easy and simple one, and if so, care to share

Mrs C, want to go wiht my es (11) to see it, I bet he will love it....we went to see Pirates of teh carabeans recently and dispite me thinking it was sort of gory at parts, he htought it was amazing...neither fil will eb the kind that I would take my younger children to though...(3 and 4 1/2). Admittedly they ahve seen the odd bits of the otehr HP movies and Pirates of teh carabean, but when at home on a not overwhelmingly big TV and where they can walk off and it isn't dark, the effect, imo, isn't quite so bad, is it....not that either really would watch the movie as such, but they have walked in on es watching them on his TV, etc....!

lol FMV, I love pancakes, but prefer either chocolate spread and maybe even vanilla icecream or maplesyrup....yum...

lol Dolly....I suppose for most people it seems madness, seeing that they can't even get the "recommended" 5 a day, lol...but you are right eating fruit for breakie is definately a good way to ensure at least 3-4 portions right there and then, and then some veggies for lunch and Dinner and maybe some fruity snacks...not that I always get my 10 in, but tend to be around the 8 mark, which is good enough
Exercisewise I do an hour of Execise anyway, well, most days , at least 5 out of 7

Lionheart, what are chinese lanterns? And what are ackees, breadfruit, jicamas, curubas , cherimoyas and kudzus [puzzled emoticon]

Anyways, so far had my almost obligatory Galia Melon and a Banana and am gonna have a few pears in a minute and an apple (so, that is about 7 portions...not sure yet what I will do for Dinner....I might do some Soup...maybe Butternutsquash, carrots, celery, leek, peas, and some beans....hm... shall see...or maybe I shall do some fish with courgettes, tomatoes , mushrooms and peppers..can't decide.
Done Nell McAndrews Peak Energy workout this morning...my arms felt like falling off....and that was before we even got to the 50 push ups....lol.....
Wanted to go shopping for a few bits...but now got to wait for a BG Engineer....we have a leak....went to let the bathwater out and my son came up telling me it was leaking into the livingroom, sigh!

SauerKraut · 21/07/2007 15:45

I regret not going to party local castle too- couldn't find any way of getting back after midnight although I spent all evening looking up various bus and train combinations. I am Narked. We are semi-celebrating coming back to life again with the departure of my step-Grandad by basically just getting out of the house- it was good but it was like living in a bubble for 10 days.
Unfortunately it doesn't include much fruit and veg yet. Exercise, though- running as an antidote to all the shuffling. Malfoynomore, (hope your name's not a spoiler, by the way ), what do you do for your hour of exercise every day?
We are just off to take the first of our kittens to his new home- Ginger Gentleman George is off accompanied by 4 upset kids, a bag of his favourite food and a new toy. They are invited to tea, though, to watch him settle in and ease the devastation.

Malfoynomore · 21/07/2007 16:15

lol SauerKraut...no don't think it's a spoiler....not read the book nor seent eh latest movie, yet...so....if it is it isn't intentionally, lol!

As for my hours worth of exercise, I usually do Exercise DVD's like Davina's Power of 3 and 3 thirty minute workouts, and Nell McAndrews Peak Energy/Maximum Impact/Ultimate challenge, Tae BO (to many different ones to list, lol), Vicky's Wow Weightloss workout, Isabella's Power workout, Late's Cardio Combat and Harvey Waldens Fighting Fit, fighting Fat Workout, Beverly Callards Rapid Results...and I have a few more a Kathy Smith one and the Hollywood workout and Jade's shape challenge and some more....me...Exercise DVD Obscessive Freak...no never...lol....I like the variety though, otherwise it would get far to boring

lionheart · 21/07/2007 16:46

Oh, and huckleberry, arhat and mock buckthorn.

Malfoynomore · 21/07/2007 16:51

lionheart...what are you talking about...I need to be enlightened
Please

Oh, anyway, we were talking about owls, weren't we....here the lovely pics of my boys with some owls:
"look here"

lionheart · 21/07/2007 17:24
