For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

oh forgot to do food thing

butternut, apricot and sweet potato soup followed by salad with aduki beans, peppers, olives, beetroot, tomato and cucumber for lunch. Pineapple and strawberries for pud. Have just had bowl of brocolli, beans and puy lentils for dinner.
I reckon that's more than 10. Still seem to be piling on the pounds though...

BBBaslalisk · 11/07/2007 19:38

I never win anything either so am quite taken a back. DP also susepcts the worst - thinks it is some kind of scam and I must be oh-so-giilaible but all looks great right down to lovely Danny who called me today. DC's very excited.

Don't worry about camping solo boco - I am doing it a few times this summer. I was looking for things to do on the local norfolk bit and added a few oxford thigns whilst I was there and won the holiday. Think 10/10 thread must be lucky.

NQC - I have just done a sick child house arrest for the past five days so you do have my sympathy. I also had that horrid stress wired not sleeping thing too that goes with sick children. I had a treat - albeit a coffee alone in the garden and half an hour with a book - to celebrate the return to normallity.

Still full form that huge salad. Off to friends to make jam tonight so will eat some balckcurrants.

BBBaslalisk is spelt wrong as I can't spell. Put me right F&Z!

Lullabyloo · 11/07/2007 19:43

NQC....Lemon courgette loaf....that sounds delicious

Haricot bean salad with rocket, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, spring onion, beetroot, carrot, asparagus, alfaalfa & sunflower seeds for supper

Lullabyloo · 11/07/2007 19:44

BBB... at jam making....something I have always longed to do but never got round to....one day

NotQuiteCockney · 11/07/2007 19:47

This is the lemon courgette loaf - I made it with frozen grated courgette, from the last time I was grating courgette, and it came out lovely, again. (I do it with half wholemeal flour, or 2/3 this time.)

BBBasalisk · 11/07/2007 19:50

would it work with marrow?

NotQuiteCockney · 11/07/2007 19:59

Marrows are just really big courgettes aren't they? I don't see why not.

That website has a lot of good American baking recipes, and reviews by users of them, so it's very very useful.

[hopeful] Does cherry beer count?

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 20:00

that recipe does look lovely....but how much is exactly a cup...I never know that....

ahundredtimes · 11/07/2007 20:00

BB lol @ sceptical partners.

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 20:01

cherry beer? What is that?

NotQuiteCockney · 11/07/2007 20:01

250 ml is what I use. Just over 8 fl oz, I think?

These recipes aren't that precise anyway, I more or less sling the right amounts in, and it comes out fine. (But then, I never time the cooking, either, just do it by touch/look/smell, anyway.)

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 20:02

lol....nqc

NotQuiteCockney · 11/07/2007 20:28

Dunno. Comes in a bottle, has a picture of a cherry on the front. Belle-vue Kriek. I bought it because I liked a different fruit beer. This one is ok.

(Actually, there is a Canadian cherry beer that you are meant to serve warm, like 70C. The carbonation goes weird. It's thoroughly .)

BBBasalisk · 11/07/2007 20:32

kriek!

I love kriek. I used to drink it in Belgo.

Yum.

It is just fruit juice really. Drink lots.

Lullabyloo · 11/07/2007 20:39

thanks NQC.....would it be horrid without the sugar do you think?

TheChamberofCarrots · 11/07/2007 20:44

Cherry beer is delicious!

Lullabyloo · 11/07/2007 20:46

loving the name

TheChamberofCarrots · 11/07/2007 20:46

Boco - Dh is popping up to Latitude at some point with Ds1, think it might be Sunday. He used to work on stages so always gets tickets for that kind of thing. We went last year, it was really nice. Shame I'm not going we may have bumped into each other. Mind you, I still could, though uless you wear a rabbit head I wouldn't recognise you

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 20:48

why is everyone namechanging right now.....am I missing something, lol...

Lullabyloo · 11/07/2007 20:48

franny......thankyou for posting the book so quickly .....only just read that ..you are wonderful

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 21:10

doh...just found out what it is with the namechanging...Harry Potter theme...makes sense...lol...

TheChamberofCarrots · 11/07/2007 21:53

yes, it's a laugh, what will you be? 3andnomore is tricky...

I had a ranko dinner of rice spaghetti with vegan pesto (that was nice) and roasted veg. It was a bit like those wonton noodles everyone ate as a student. Slimy.

Toot- the ice cream is a little disappointing, but better smothered in maya gold! Goes all crackly a bit like a vienetta. Mmm. Truffles are the best though.

NotQuiteCockney · 11/07/2007 21:58

Lullabyloo, I think it needs some sugar. You could probably halve the amount, though, pretty safely.

3andnomore · 11/07/2007 22:05

hehe...3andnomore works relatively good with the namechanging for festive occasions...but with the harry potter thing..>I woudn't know where to start....

BocoBeak · 11/07/2007 22:08
