still on wagon (she says smiling smugly yet laughing nervously at the thought of being named and shamed in future by Betty Ford)

BettyFord · 09/09/2004 21:20

NB: You will only be named and shamed if you repeatedly say you are going to have a night off and fail. One offs will be tolerated as long as they are infrequent. Repeated failure to report progress and blatant lies will also result in a name and shame.

Betty

motherinferior · 09/09/2004 22:18

How will you know if they're blatant lies? I mean judging by typing skills I could name at least one Mumsnetter who appears permanantly p*ssed...

BettyFord · 09/09/2004 23:31

Betty knows all

luckymum · 10/09/2004 08:20

Dearest Betty - I have been dry for two nights now......why do I feel so crap this morning??????

ghengis · 10/09/2004 09:27

Dear Betty, a whole week (okay working week) without booze and I can't believe how energetic I feel. My face is regaining some shape and, rather excitingly, I seem to have unearthed some cheekbones . I may never drink again (yeah, right!).

Hurrah for sobriety!

I hate to say it but I told you so...

WELL DONE KS and GHENGIS

Luckymum, keep up the hard work, you will soon start to feel the benefits. Try and keep going over the weekend too.

luckymum · 10/09/2004 11:10

But I'm supposed to be going out tonight Betty with the girls, for food and for drink, and well, please miss, can I, can I? I promise to be good from Sunday onwards.

BettyFord · 10/09/2004 15:30

Ok you are absolved for one night luckymum....but remember that BINGE DRINKING IS BAD FOR YOU. So I want no tales of 120 units in one night from you please.

motherinferior · 10/09/2004 20:59

Well, much as I'd like to curl up with a glass of red tonight - DP is poorly (oh great, having gone to work being Very Very Brave he has now keeled over, what a surprise, guess who'll have a very exciting weekend of childcare and mopping brows) and the Inferiorettes are sparko...but no. Caught sight of myself in a full-length mirror today. Booze can only add to the enormity

eemie · 11/09/2004 08:38

Mixed week for me. Two nights nil, half-bottle wine on Wed (not in the plan, but was feeling poorly & wanting comfort) two glasses on Thurs (allowed in my plan but felt muzzy on Friday morning), none on Fri (but still feeling poorly and really wanted some, only there was none in house).

Some (most) weeks during the holiday we shared a bottle of wine or had a couple of beers every night, so I do want to cut down. This week has brought home to me that I use alcohol as a kind of short-cut to pick myself up at times. Not a good example to give to dd especially as my father was an alcoholic. Hmmm.

charliecat · 11/09/2004 08:57

Popping in from the giving up fags thread, looking at this thread, our smoking one and the dieters one is quite amusing.
Its all the same stuff but with either fags/food/booze inserted!
Theres the weak willed the inbetweenies and the determined.
Good Luck All Of You!

motherinferior · 11/09/2004 19:15

Well, I'll admit that the no-booze demand is one reason I'm skiving off a 50th birthday party (it's also halfway across London and a nightmare to get to/back from...)...only our full-length mirror is holding me to this!

MummyToSteven · 11/09/2004 19:46

had just the one gin and tonic last night - friday and sat were the days i was allowed alcohol. may have a shot of whisky tonight. so doing ok so far, betty

luckymum · 11/09/2004 20:08

motherinferior · 13/09/2004 08:58

And again.

Hey, am I the only one?

ghengis · 13/09/2004 10:10
