Ok, I'm not posting my pee to you but I'm going to bed booze free. Am extremely grumpy, though.

Grrrrrrrrrr

CountessDracula · 06/09/2004 20:02

Well done all of you!
I am now on day 15 of the day to day challenge. Don't even miss it now (she lied)

wellsie · 06/09/2004 20:04

MY TOP TIP IS....

Get absolutely bladdered to the point you think you're going to die and then wake up the next morning wishing you had died and promise yourself you'll never drink alcohol again.

It worked for me. I haven't touched a single drop of alcohol in 4yrs and it's great. Only problem is that when you tell people you don't drink they assume you're an alcoholic or that you're from another planet.

fio2 · 07/09/2004 08:03

well i did it! how about everyone else?

luckymum · 07/09/2004 08:22

I finished off my last bottle (it was just one large glass) and I promise to be good tonight

fairyfly · 07/09/2004 08:26

Did it did it did it. I do realise how much better I feel in the mornings - even one glass hits you when you haven't had all that much sleep.

DP has bottled out (appropriate phrase or what?) saying he wants to do One Glass A Night. I'm trying for Mon-Thurs...

JJ · 07/09/2004 08:56

Another top tip is not to substitute Diet Coke for wine at dinner if you want to go to bed early.

Ok, roll on tonight!

JanH · 07/09/2004 09:02

I'm sorry, I forgot

Will try tonight, sob, too. MI, how can he have Just One Glass, this is always my downfall! Just One, and then Just Another, and then Well It Won't Be As Nice Tomorrow So It's Not Worth Keeping...

motherinferior · 07/09/2004 09:04

DP is infuriatingly capable of Just One Glass. I can do Just One if it's at 10pm, but of late it has become Just Rather A Lot, particularly as he was off work for two weeks and one of those weeks was with childcare so we could go out for the odd drunken lunch. Which was all very good fun, but I suppose cannot continue indefinitely.

aloha · 07/09/2004 09:49

CD I miss it!! I miss it lots. One or two glasses a week plus the odd sip from dh's glass doesn't do it for me.

luckymum · 07/09/2004 14:41

Ooooo I can tell dh I've joined a JOGging club

CountessDracula · 07/09/2004 14:45

aloha that is your downfall! If you had none you wouldn't miss it so much. It's like having the odd cigarette, just keeps you hooked.

That was my point - I find giving up much easier than cutting down because you KNOW you can't have a drink, it's not a question of "oh well, I'll have that night off tomorrow" and then when tomorrow comes putting it off again.

CountessDracula · 07/09/2004 14:46

(and of course I do miss it but it is fine this way)

aloha · 07/09/2004 14:53

I miss it if I park outside Oddbins! Doesn't help that dh still has a glass or two (or three!) most nights. Temptation, always that damned temptation...

enid · 07/09/2004 14:58

Oh I really want to give up for a month. But I have just bought a 'wine box' in a pathetic attempt to drink less red wine - I won't have an open bottle to finish, IYKWIM.

Aloha, was that you in Eve mag - you are well glam!

ks - 160 in what space of time - please don't say a saturday night or a weekend!

Tinker · 07/09/2004 15:14

But that 21 units per week figure was just plucked out of nowhere wasn't it? Wasn't it?

CountessDracula · 07/09/2004 15:16

160 units!!!

well, with the wine box you only drink one glass - because it is disgusting . Also it lives in the kitchen so it is harder to top up when you are cosy in the sitting room. One box lasted us nearly three weeks - its the equivalent of four bottles, whereas normally we'd drink a bottle on a friday and a bottle on saturday and then another bottle over the course of a week.

fio2 · 07/09/2004 16:41

sound like an average day to me ks

OP posts:
motherinferior · 08/09/2004 08:54

And again! No booze!

Am wondering vaguely whether to make it a full month, on account of so many spare tyres you could roll me down a hill...
