For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Do leaves count as a portion if you smoke them? (Has that question been done before?!)

FrannyandZooey · 04/07/2007 22:11

Jeez, Greeny remind me to stay away from you on any drug

it really does not bear thinking about [terror]

now you see while we are on the topic, hash makes me paranoid and introsepctive and all that. I can't stick it. But with speed and cider I can FLY [ruler of the world emoticon]

Franny! I won't purge with prunes! It all comes down to poo with you.

NQC sounds exhausting. I can relate to the jaw clenching anxiety - not now but had awful anxiety in the past. Tried everything, but in the end had CBT and the woman said she didnt't actually want to help me to change the way i was thinking about things - i had to actually physically change my situation. So i did. And felt better. That probably doesn't help does it, sorry. Just that maybe there are things stressing you out that you need to address?

Sorry if i'm waffling and way off.

Boco, I meant spiritual purging

sheesh [misunderstood]

Me on LSD was fairly bad news I think

Greensleeves · 04/07/2007 22:12

"Franny! I won't purge with prunes! It all comes down to poo with you."

That's Quote of the Week done and dusted then

Boco · 04/07/2007 22:13

Franny i'm with you on hash - always made me morose and slightly viral.

Speed i loved for a while
and e, and lsd. Was fun. Then it took a week to recover and i realised it was time to grow up and stop being bad.

Boco · 04/07/2007 22:14

Actually Greeny, i had quote of the week last week [proud] I told someone in rl, and they looked at me with such pity.

FrannyandZooey · 04/07/2007 22:15

"Me on LSD was fairly bad news I think"

you know for a healthy living thread we do spend a fair chunk of time mooning over our drugs experiences

OP posts:
MrsCarrot · 04/07/2007 22:17

perhaps all on the healthy living thread are reformed druggies?

We do all have a LOT of past anxiety issues Well, mine aren't past, I keep it under control, mostly, has been rearing a little recently.

Dh smokes every day at the bottom of the garden.

Greensleeves · 04/07/2007 22:18

Well, some of them are vegetable-derived

Boco · 04/07/2007 22:19

I think you might have something there MrsC. Took lots of drugs, got paranoid and anxious, started eating lots of vegetables and developed a fear of tartrazine. Welcome to 10 / 10.

MrsCarrot · 04/07/2007 22:19

I am always paranoid in a restaurant that they will be dubious of they any other than button

I drive dh a bit mental

FrannyandZooey · 04/07/2007 22:20

Ah, you see I have only had anxiety as a little side order

Depression is my main course mental illness

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 04/07/2007 22:20

They do make excellent bedfellows though

MrsCarrot · 04/07/2007 22:21

Lol at fear of tartrazine

Tatties · 04/07/2007 22:21

Well I have no drugs experience [naive]

But my jaws are fairly clenched... that's interesting about your CBT Boco.

Boco · 04/07/2007 22:22

Ah, my anxiety was a side order of a dollop of post traumatic stress disorder. Dp does the depression.

MrsCarrot · 04/07/2007 22:23

mmm, only got depressed when anxiety stopped me sleeping. That's ok at the moment though. The 'bug' thing is around, a bit,

and the atmosphere is a little gaspy right now, don't you think?

filthymindedFlanders · 04/07/2007 22:26

what if you're not reformed by choice, merely by lack of opportunity...?

A nice psilocybe omelette might be just the ticket...though how many would constitute a portion?

MrsCarrot · 04/07/2007 22:27

I had CBT too, for six months. The Gp recommended prozac for my IBS She said the waiting list was months but I said I'd wait and it only took three weeks. Highly recommend it, that and a herbalist.

I miss my herbalist, he used to do reiki on me too, I will go back when I'm not bf.

lionheart · 04/07/2007 22:31

Prozac makes you do odd things, like staying up all night to paint the room sunflower yellow.

I thought ginger was a herb, NQC, but apparently it is a rhizome.

Greensleeves · 04/07/2007 22:32

I asked for CBT (have been treated for anxiety panic disorder/depression/PTSD for years) and was told the waiting list was 18 months and he couldn't even put me on it at all unless something "acute" happened!

filthymindedFlanders · 04/07/2007 22:33

I stayed up to paint our front room sunflower yellow! Never had prozac though
