I thought it was you...

You are on Cipralex aren't you? I had to go up to 20mg because 10mg stopped working, so you are not alone. From your previous postings, you seem an incredibly strong person - look what you did to get the ah out of your life. It was bound to hit on you at some point, because you made such a major difference to your life by doing it.

Keep your chin up, and keep posting. xxx

Essbee,

Have only just found the thread ((((hugs)))).
I was where you are last Jan. It's awful.

Keep talking, it helps, also try and get a CPN, without being to melodramatic, I honestly think that she saved my life.

Honey, I know we have only spoken on the net, but I think that you are a fab person, and you are doing the most demanding job (being a parent) in a difficult situation, in the best possible way. The fact that you can ask for help shows that you want to and CAN come out of this, and believe me. You will get better and look at this time in your life in a different light.

At my very worst I was having day visits to the Pshychiract (sp) at the local mental institute, I was too worried to worry my RL friends. and I wish I had MN then.

And alot of it stemmed back to my father too.

Essbee, my email account has been hacked, but I did send you my home number.

If you want to call ANYTIME, I will be there 4 you, or contact me again on CAT

Sweetie. Please I will help anyway I can,

Chinchilla · 08/09/2004 19:04

ps - no need to feel 'ashamed' about being depressed.

MummyToSteven · 08/09/2004 19:11

Hi Essbee - glad to hear from you again! I also don't think you are likely to get the same side effects from an increase in dose as from starting it, as I think it is less of a change for your body to get used to. And don't be ashamed - look on it as a seretonin deficiency, and analogous to diabetes, which is an insulin deficiency (apologies to any diabetics if i have slightly garbled it) and therefore not your fault.

SoupDragon · 08/09/2004 19:18

:)

SoupDragon · 08/09/2004 19:18

Bum

Chinchilla · 08/09/2004 19:28

Oh yes, meant to say that (if you ARE on Cipralex), I didn't get any more side-effects from the increase. Don't worry.

kalex · 08/09/2004 19:33

Essbee I was on Citolpram, and got no side effects from increased dosage, just went to have less and less down days.

I actually woke up last week and felt I was in the depths again, and I was so so so scared. Spent the whole day feeling suicadal, really. Was so scared coz had not felt like that for such a long time. The next day I felt better and was so relieved.

Please try to keep in your head that you are not alone, some of us have been to that same dark place you are in, and we are here to help pull you out.

Galaxy - depends which AD you are on what the minimum dose is - it's usually 20 mg for Prozac (Fluoxetine), and think its about 50 mg for Lustral (Sertraline).

amitriptiline is a bit different anyway to what essbee is on - its one of the older tricyclic ads - cipralex, prozac etc are a more recent group, SSRIs. amazing how they find new uses for things, isn't it.

kalex · 08/09/2004 19:54

Bit like Zovirax was originally used for eye infections until they discovered they work for cold sores. Now give strict instructions not to use on eyes.

Totally at a tangent

Essbee we are all here for you

MummyToSteven · 08/09/2004 19:56

erm, yes Kalex spose we should get back to the main topic of the thread!- Essbee - you know that I always digress

not implying that you have started in on it tonight - just that i know when I have had too much wine I have felt very down/ratty the night after (one of the reasons I have given up wine!)

lydialemon · 08/09/2004 20:11

Just wanted to add a hug from me too, everyone has things far better than I could so I'll just say 'ditto'

XX

lydialemon · 08/09/2004 20:13

She ate one of my homemade biscuits this evening so she's not scared of my cooking.

I hope you've had something more substantial since then m'dear.

MummyToSteven · 08/09/2004 20:24

not letting you diet that easily, essbee. seriously you need to eat regularly to keep your blood sugar and morale up!
