Eats Fruits and Leaves - 10 / 10 club - all welcome

For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

shall we do that ceremony, lionheart, you know, the one with the nettle juice and the artichokes?

Oh right okay. Well, did have a coffee this morning and a mango. Then at lunch I had a mug of miso soup then 2 nectarines and an orange. One more coffee.
Then had a chickpea and aubergine tagine for supper. And, oh dear, another coffee BUT also drinking lots of water. AND eating.
Can I stay?

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 21:50

oh yes you can stay

[mashing nettles with bare feet]

just stand over there and put your arms in thse straps

I'll concoct the brew. You make sure she doesn't leave.

lionheart · 21/06/2007 21:51

Won't take but a minute ...

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 21:51

Is that bad then? Honestly? I have no idea what happens here. LOL.

Will it? Oh thank god, I was getting worried.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 21:55

LOL we just post what we've eaten and any exercise we have done, then slap ourselves on the back

then talk about films and things and tease the new recruits a bit

100x I reckon you had at least 7 there (have no way of knowing your portions of veg) which is GOOD, very good

My recommendation is try to eat a little more veg tomorrow, and do some exercise

F&Z - Gimme a link! Pleeease

Hi 100 - Well it's all I can do to eat 5 portions a day frankly - 10 portions would just outface me. Now I know how DS feels about green beans.

What've I eaten today - well a reluctant 3 meals

Breakfast - three spoonsful of porridge with honey (organic therefore calorie free)

Lunch - poached salmon on wholemeal with side salad of frisee (also a bit of creme fraiche in sandwich but the tarragon neutralised those calories)

Snack - apple and banana

Dinner - the most unappetising lentil and bacon soup you have ever seen in your life.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 21:56

Do we count miso? God what IS miso? She is really quite good isn't she Avi? She threw me off the scent there with brie and coffee, and then sneaked in the old aubergine tagine

Oh, okay. That was quite painless in the end then. Can I eat more fruit instead of vegetables though? I prefer it.

Quatt it was "Heaven Knows I'm Vegetable Now"

ok not actually that good but people REALLY liked it

Quatt your food is not too bad, do you fancy a challenge though? If you had some dried fruit in your porridge and some extra veg with your dinner then I think you could crack it

Haven't even got to 5 today! But did an exercise dvd at home for the first time in my life. That was not a good experience. It's kind of like an aerobics class only without the peer pressure and therefore totally useless IMO.

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 21:59

Gosh Quatt you did well. You ate masses, I mean, a proper and healthy amount.

I'm so happy you don't know what Miso soup is. Is soupy stock thing with seaweed in. Oh yes.

Avi I am embarrassed to say I can't get my head round it at the moment

it does need doing but I would have to make some huge mental shifts and I am working on other changes right now

I really hope you post about it and I will lurk lots and maybe join you one day?

100x you could but like me you should concentrate on eating more veg for maximum health doodahs

Dried fruit in porridge? Okay. I'll try that, thanks. Normally have fruit salad though. Porridge was DD's leftover. Do leftovers just get thrown away?

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 22:01

miso is a paste made from fermented soy beans, people have it as a soup, seasoning, or base.

It is apparently very good for you. I don't like it.

Aviatrix- I would like to, but I just can't do it.

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:01

I'm learning how to eat properly and not just exist on coffee and brie. I've done rather well today. They're going to let me stay. But they keep talking about baskets and splinters. Is weird. Is my first time.
