For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

What's a wnaky basket?

My felt balls ARE in a basket!!

You make a ball from unspun wool, put nice colours on the outside, maybe put a bell in, plunge in hot soapy water to felt it, roll it for what seems like a year, rinse, dry, hey presto, lovely organic jangly ball for baby. I've only just learnt but I have six now. Did a green one with a pink cross on yesterday.

I'm happy to muddle through, sometimes I write what I've had and then delete it apart from fruit/veg, so if it's not that strict perhaps I'll occasionly elaborate.

Did 100x appear on here briefly? Come back, we won't tell you off for having a cappucino, well, not straightaway anyway

Aviatrix- that sounds like a great idea. I spend far too much money on crap. Some days I wonder round town not really needing anything but somehow parting with loads of money. And I never sell anything. Hence house full of crap. Every so often give things away but I should probably do e-bay as well.

God, I'm rambling and no mention of food, so far only peach and cherries, will go and have banana and raisins now.

Is it the longest day, I just got a happy solstice text? It's hot whatever it is.

Update........broken toe, trip to A&E, no f&v as yet!

lionheart · 21/06/2007 13:04

You had a detox head-ache the last time you posted--how did you get a broken toe?

talcy0 · 21/06/2007 13:13

Hahahah
still got headache.....walked into dd's bed this am, separating my toes in the process!!

Had 1 apple and 1 pear now though!

filthymindedvixen · 21/06/2007 13:33

hello, just diving in briefly.
1: The wicker man is my favourite film ever. I love the music

2: I am finding not drinking fine and not too difficult F&Z. I'm addicted to red wine But Tis more to try and gently encourage dh who is in danger of becoming alcohol dependent...

3: today I have eaten fruit medley of melon, nectarine, banana, blueberries and rasps for brekkie. Cous couse salad with leaves, peppers, feta, olives, onion, sweetcorn for lunch with burgun bread and carrot sticks. I now am desperate for some cake!

4: Dinner will be F&V deficient as dh is providing dinner (it is our unofficial wedding anniversary tonight, official one at weekend.) So that means there will be no vegetables provided as dh is quite capapble of planning and cooking a meal with a thought to vitamins

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 13:50

Talcy- you poor thing, that made me shudder, I think it was the 'separation' bit!

Did the detox make you confused?

Lullabyloo · 21/06/2007 14:10

.....tooooooooo scary

Talcy....owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww..sounds awful..poor you

Had brown rice with roasted veg..yellow & red peppers,garlic,red onion,courgette,cherry toms...with baby spinach leaves,rocket,basil,spring onions & beetroot.

& some cherries

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 14:39

Aviatrix there is at least one other MNer trying to do the same and I know there is / was a thread somewhere. I think you should start one, I think it could be very inspiring reading. I am afraid I will not be joining you at the moment. Shopping is my absolute downfall, I am a crap lentil weaver. I have made huge life changes in the past though so would love to think that reading about what you are doing might one day enable me to make changes too.

Re: ds's clothes, I thought while doing the Buy Nothing thing, that you could buy second hand stuff? Or did I misunderstand it?

MrsC [drool] at felt balls. If you are making any to sell PLEASE let me know as I NEED them with a passion. Wnaky baskets is the MN term for treasure baskets (cod said they were "wanky"...or rather "wnaky" )

I run treasure basket classes and am always looking for new and gorgeous things to put in them. If anyone else has / makes fab natural / intriguing objects that are ok for babies to put in their mouths then please let me know...

Yes where IS 100x? 100x cooooo-eeeeeee. Probably behind the sofa eating brie.

Talcy hope your toe makes a fast recovery. Can you walk?

FMF what a kind thing to do for your dp, I hope it pays off

Lullaby I still can't believe your dh won't eat your food! Does it make you cross with him?

talcy0 · 21/06/2007 17:09

thanks lionheart

filthymindedvixen · 21/06/2007 19:22

aviatrix - I salute you...I have no money and happily buy from 2nd hand shops. But the point is, it's still buying. And when time is shit, and although I am not very girly, I am girly enough to enjoy shopping....

But I genuinely would like to hear how you get on! I think the ebay thing sounds terribly sensible (and a challenge!!)

fillyjonk · 21/06/2007 19:31

ooh avi that sounds interestng

have you read the associated book? i am not sure if its worth it but its very interesting

i would say kids clothes are a necessity, actually, maybe not from next though...

but then i can never steel myself to do this becuase it woudl mean relying on my lcoal library and they are just crappy and grumpy. i'd rather buy my books and sell them on. prob cheaper fine wise anyway...

i am eating pretty healthily mainly because everything that isn't fruit or veg or tofu or quorn is making me feel like crap. Potatoes are not good atm and cheese is Very Bad. Still i have manged to put on christ only knows how much weight, ffs which is splendid as i have 2 weddings to go to in a few weeks.

lionheart · 21/06/2007 20:21

It sounds interesting, aviatrix, but tough, too. (I'm too shallow).

FMV--just noticed that reference to the Wicker Man? That is a feakily-scary piece of cinema. Have you seen the new version?

Talcy, is your foot in plaster? Are the painkillers working?
