For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

Me too, but I wouldn't stop anyone reading them if they wanted to. Why are we discussing this? Let's stop. I'm tired and pissed off at the moment. I think it's the lack of caffeine.

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2007 22:48

Aw sorry 100

didn't mean to hack you off

have an apple, or something

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 22:49

Oh noooo Franny, you haven't AT ALL. I don't imagine you ever could really.

Yes, and I'll have a plum too.

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2007 22:51

hah

too insipid to ever offend you, eh?

How is the caffeine thing going? You're cutting down too fast if you're getting tetchy

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 22:54

Oh no I consider you positively feisty as it happens, I just don't get offended much. Is a problem really.

HOORAY. Am going to make one now then.

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2007 22:56

Ruddy HELL how can you drink coffee NOW? Are you mad? I would be up till 5 am if I had a coffee now

mind you people comment and laugh nervously if they see me after I have had a cup of caffeinated tea

it has been requested at parties to amuse people

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:00

lol. Well kettle is boiling now, let's see whether I'm different in about 5 mins. Will be an experiment.

FrannyandZooey · 23/06/2007 23:02

You will have to make me a flip chart or something for the morning, I've been asleep on the sofa most of the evening and am now off to bed with Frances Hodgson Burnett

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:05

Good old Frances. Night.

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:12

Oh have i missed you all?

Not sure where i want to be last couple of nights - not hairy bums and had enough of the racism, that Enid thread gave me a stiff neck so i didn't post, thought i'd come and report on all the apples and raspberries and broccoli and green beans i've eaten!

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:13

Oh well done. Franny's gone to bed with Frances and I've just bored Foxy off another thread. I've eaten a coconut today.

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:18

Really? Have you been hanging around fairgrounds again? I forget about coconuts as a food.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:22

dd1 bought it at the supermarket. It was great, but Franny doesn't think it counts as a fruit.

I've also been trying to cut down on the coffee, but it's made me a bit mad I've noticed. Like the racist thread, I realised afterwards that what I mean to say was that that I don't like people being offended when their beliefs are attacked, which is quite different from THEM PERSONALLY being attacked. So was quite stupid really to talk about it on that thread. I apologise for being an idiot and not being clear. I'm going to drink more coffee. I can't take the dull dull head no coffee gives me.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:25

Because, obviously, it's all about the coffee.

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:29

I only realised what you meant afterwards actually - not being an idiot - good point, i just didn't grasp it at the time. And i do agree with that.

The enid blyton racism one is worse - but i can't form thoughts into sentences and don't want to think about it. Is everyone a bit grumpy today? Maybe it's just me.

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:31

Do you stay up very very late then? I can't drink coffee in the evenings or i'd be jogging on the spot and chewing furniture. When do you sleep?

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:32

No, no, was me, I didn't express myself at all well.

No, I don't think it's just you, I am too. I've got a theory actually about Mumsnet. I think you start off and its thrilling and fun, and you don't do any work, and then it sort of lulls a bit and then you decide whether you're going to carry on through the pain and become a regular fixture when I imagine it picks up again, or whether you're going to slope off into the shadows.

I reckon if you've been here for ages you see it all the time. I'm in the lull.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:34

Yes I do sleep, honestly. But dh and ds2 are away this weekend and I feel a bit discombobulated.

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:39

Yeah me too. Maybe i have the 4 month itch?

I used to see threads by people saying 'there's nothing that's interesting me atm on mn!', and think - well, go and do something, or start an interesting conversation, don't sit around moaning. Couldn't imagine how you couldn't find something interesting. But it's amazing how quickly the same topics go round and round. I suppose a balance is needed. It's good, maybe i'll get some balance and do all the things i should really be doing.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:39

Ah, sorry, Ava, franny, Mrs Carrot, lionheart et al. I'm just rearranging the bean bags for tomorrow and polishing the fruit bowls. Didn't mean to linger.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 23:41

Oh you're back, sorry, thought I was alone in the healthy eating topic.
Yes, I think you're right. Besides, is a good thing probably, otherwise I'm never going to work again.
Ok night. Have had coffee nightcap, can sleep now.

TooTicky · 23/06/2007 23:42

Ooh, people are up late tonight!

Boco · 23/06/2007 23:44

Hanging out in healthy eating, whizzed up on caffeine. (are you like those people that get so high that amphetamines calm them down? Will your thudding heart not keep you awake?)

Sleep well

TooTicky · 24/06/2007 00:30

Oh, would you lot mind thinking about what we can give dd2 for her birthday? She will be 2 on 1st July (yes, I know, should've planned it earlier...)
She is definitely getting a small photo album with pics of herself and siblings. I wondered about some semi-precious stones as she loves playing with them in shops. She would love a slide but I don't think we can run to one.
No batteries, no plastic. I'm a bit stuck really...

FrannyandZooey · 24/06/2007 08:40

TooT I always say instruments because that is what ds wanted, and there are so many that children this age can play (mostly percussion instruments, but a huge range of noises they can make).

Boco and 100x times I completely agree with the lull thing, however I certainly didn't get it after 4 months, jeez, you must really be hopped up on caffeine. I am just missing all my mates on here atm, I feel like the party moved on somewhere else but no-one bothered to tell me
