For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information if you follow the link at the very bottom of the page

Goat's cheese is delish but contains approximately 1 month's worth of calories

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:25

Oh okay, thank you franny. Yes, I thought you were going to hand out stricter guidelines than this and be VERY DEMANDING.

Quattrocento · 21/06/2007 22:27

Forgot to fess up to two skinny cappucinos

How bad are they?

Should I just switch to espresso?

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 22:28

oh good, I quite like being a spy

Is it really that fattening Quattro? Shame. I can't eat it anyway, still no dairy (of any kind) for me.

100- I think an ommlette sounds delicious. I would probably stuff it with peppers onions mushrooms, garlic and tarragon too. Mmm.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 22:29

Quatt and 100x IT IS NOT A DIET THREAD, there are no banned foods, we are not aiming at weight loss or calorie control

we eat what we want and enjoy it

we just eat loads and loads of fruit and veg

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:30

and they eat brassica too Quatt. Do you know what this is? I have no idea lol.

Quattrocento · 21/06/2007 22:30

Got it, got it, got it

Why?

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 22:32

because it is nice

it is healthy

we enjoy it and we feel happy and full of vitality (sometimes )

see I did get a little bit strict there

OP posts:
ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:32

Oh dear, are we spoiling things with all these questions? I'm sorry. I'm going to lurk from now on, and then post here when i understand what's going on a bit more. LOL.

Quattrocento · 21/06/2007 22:32

Dunno old thing. In my head, brassica is right up there with kale. I imagine it is long and dark green and possibly curly and rich in vitamin er E.

If it turns out to be red and round, please don't blame me.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 22:33

LOL I did explain, both in the OP and earlier this evening when you sidled in

this bumbling ingenue act won't wash with me 100x

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 22:34

Quatt full marks for identifying kale as a member of the brassica family

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brassica

Read it. Mustard seed is not just a fairy. It really exists!

Boco · 21/06/2007 22:36

Franny i've emailed you a strange question. It seemed like a good idea, but feel free to ignore it as i've since realised it's probably just odd.

This thread looks interesting, never been here. I'm trying hard to drink more water at the moment. And less tea. And more fresh fruit.

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:36

I didn't READ the OP. Sorry am really not trying to be a bumbling idiot, am eating chickpea tagines fgs, and dh is making smoothies again too. But not today. We only decided to start eating properly on Monday, and he seems to have rather run out of steam already. . . .

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 22:37

ooh, lots of new people today, wonder if it's the solstice!

Wrong vitamin. Shoulda gone for C really. I mean E was such a long shot. At least brassica is not red and round.

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 22:38

I am very bad at making smotthie

Innocent does such a good job, albeit at a premium but I do water it down.

Not as good as the juice man's though.

Mrscarrot · 21/06/2007 22:39

Smoothie!

ahundredtimes · 21/06/2007 22:39

Glory, The Triangle of U Theory, is not just a plant this, I can see why you're all so interested.

Yes, but they're not very strict on whats in or out here Boco, just in case you were hoping they were (I was), Franny just tells you to exercise more and eat more vegetables and MrsC has lots of recipes. Is nice. I like it.

Booooco, tell all of us your weird idea, pleeeeease.

Lullabyloo · 21/06/2007 22:42

Mmmmmmmmm miso soup...i lurve the clearspring one with tofu....really nice as a soup base with chopped garlic, ginger, spring onions ,peas ,pepper & spinach...yum

snack was carrot/celery/pepper/cucumber sticks with houmus

Supper.. baked salmon with sesame oil, ginger, garlic & lemon with leeks, spinach & green salad & sprouted beans
& some strawberries

Boco · 21/06/2007 22:42

No no i wasn't hoping for strict, i'm not good at that. I tend to crave banned foods even if i never liked them anyway.

Wasn't an idea, just a question for franny that i thought she might help me with but is kind of odd.... i emailed her so i wouldn't have to explain this....

So, fruit! Yum. I do like a nice mango.

FrannyandZooey · 21/06/2007 22:42

Have replied Boco

I did do strict once and we had a boot camp and punishments and stuff

it was the most popular week on the thread, ever
