Unable to walk suddenly

TROUBLEDMAM · 03/07/2018 02:16

So on Thursday I suddenly became unable to walk
I could feel my back hurt n giving out n my legs trembling
Ive suffered with sciatica before n thought it was the beginning of an episode
Until Friday when I realised I couldn't walk at all
I called my gp out n she said it was sciatica n a pulled muscle
Give me strong drugs n left
Come Saturday night the drugs weren't masking the pain n I was sure they was something more wrong
I rang 111 who phoned an ambulance
They wouldn't take me to hospital said ring my doctor today
I did this n she said she would call back after speaking to another doctor but never did

I'm in absolute agony I'm pissing in a bucket
I've had muscle relaxers called lorazepam
Codeine phosphate paracetamol every four hours since Friday n I'm still in agony

Any one know wat I can do next?

Glad to hear you are in hospital. So sorry that you have had such bad treatment.

TROUBLEDMAM · 02/08/2018 01:03

Hi I'm still waiting for my letter to get my nerve blocker injections so I'm still in agony
Just wish they would hurry up so I could get back to normal and enjoy life again and my kids x

Hi OP,
How are you feeling today? Any progress?

TROUBLEDMAM · 12/08/2018 02:08

Still in pain
Still waiting for injections

Loosing the will to live tbh

Hi OP - did I read you'd not had your injections yet? Definitely chase up with the hospital asap to get them organised. It's not right you being in pain now they've found the cause.

MarklahMarklah · 14/08/2018 13:41

Chase, chase, chase...you need to be injected!!

greeneggblueegg · 14/08/2018 21:53

Have you got the Secretary's number? Make a nuisance of yourself - worked for me!

Ollivander84 · 16/08/2018 23:09

I thought it might be - my disc herniated and was crushing my nerves. Honestly I would skip the injections and have the surgery. Ring them and offer to take a cancellation, that usually gets you seen quickly if you can

Ollivander84 · 16/08/2018 23:14

Also with regards to the pain - I broke my ankle and foot and drove myself to hospital (I didn't know it was broken!)
I have previously had mental health problems and still take meds. The minute they looked at the MRI they got how much pain I was in, the neurosurgeon basically said "you poor woman, that must hurt like hell"
I can't describe the pain but it was constant severe leg pain and I more than once said I was going to cut my leg off because I couldn't take any more of it

14 months on and I'm back from my first pole fitness class since my op Grin

Knitjob · 19/08/2018 19:17

Can't believe you're still waiting, I'm really sorry. That's most of the summer you've been off your feet. You must be so fed up.

Aridane · 19/08/2018 19:48

Horrifying thread

TROUBLEDMAM · 20/08/2018 19:35

I have been chasing this up to day and I'm not even on the list for any nerve root blocker injections at the hospital
And my gp who referred me is on holiday

Ffs I'm in agony and I'm loosing the will to live my poor poor kids

OP posts:
whattimeislove · 20/08/2018 20:27

Can you ask the admin staff at the GP surgery if the referral has been made?

NewUserNameTime · 26/08/2018 12:17

That's dreadful OP

TROUBLEDMAM · 12/09/2018 22:51

Well guys I thought I'd update you and ask your opinion
I'm still currently waiting for these nerve root blockers
Apparently the waiting list is 8 months to 12 months
In the mean time I'm on pregabs naproxen paracetamol and morphine
N my pain isn't in control
The side effects are awful n I mean awful

I'm told to rest n exercise
Yesterday I went to one shop n walked without my crutch

Today I wonder if I've damaged myself more
If I've got partial cauda equina syndrome
But I Duno
Doctors checked me at end of July for cauda equina n I didn't have it

I'm in agony
Crying uncontrollably

Tmi I went for a wee but a solid poo came out why?
I feel the need to wee a lot
My back pain is unreal
N the leg pain reaches my toes
My legs r numb n heavy

Advice anyone xx

Is there no way you can be seen quicker,it's barbaric leaving you like this.

If it's got worse and sounds, ike it has I'd go back to a and e

Singlenotsingle · 12/09/2018 23:02

Any health insurance, OP? I don't suppose you could afford to go private? You can't possibly wait 8 months. You've waited long enough already

TROUBLEDMAM · 12/09/2018 23:07

I can't afford to go private I wish I could
I I've been in touch with my local MP again
But it all takes time
I'm just having another really really fed up in ridiculous amounts of pain kinda moment

I am going to phone pals but haven't got round to it yet

I just don't want to go up to hospital making a fuss for all them plus my family when it's probably nothing and I'll be sent away again

OP posts:
TROUBLEDMAM · 12/09/2018 23:27

I'm really scared that something is wrong
I wish they could fix me 😭

OP posts:
Ollivander84 · 12/09/2018 23:31

Go back and make a fuss if you need to. Say you are not coping with the pain and it's not under control
Explain about the wee etc
Offer to take any cancellations
Cauda equina can develop at any point, my herniation doubled in 4-6 weeks despite me doing nothing
PALS
I would suggest GP if you feel comfortable with them, and don't be afraid to get upset

That's ridiculous, they shoved me full of morphine in a&e and I saw the neurosurgeon on a cancellation within weeks because I howled down the phone and said I would take anything at all

TROUBLEDMAM · 12/09/2018 23:36

Did you make a fuss in AnE or at the doctors
Coz I think it's time to start loosing the plot if I'm honest
As I can't cope
