Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

The sleeping version.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 20:02

Naww too cute. He has a couple of soft toys but he's extremely attached to them. Tony his bean filled dinosaur goes everywhere with him :)

penguinsandpanda · 10/05/2018 20:11

I told my DS and he said that's normal to sleep with a 4 foot panda and he said your son's panda is very cute. My DS used to take 15 soft toys to school each day in y4, school gave them their own desk. We even have a car panda.

purpleunicorns · 10/05/2018 20:31

Good luck for tomorrow Likeazebra and mrspotter Thanks

I'm at the breast clinic tomorrow to get a lump checked out. I'm hoping they don't do a biopsy as I'm a wimp when it comes to needles although I should be used to them by now Grin

You're on your 34th cycle Leslie? Shock do you have many more to go? I was complaining about having 5 Blush

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 20:36

Thats so cute. I love that my son has this lovely sensitive side to him. Your son sounds very much like mine. He also has a love of anything train related too. He has quite the collection going.

Hope your feeling well this evening. Unfortunately the morphine alone isnt working so the Dr said to add on solpadol on top so hoping I'll get relief soon

penguinsandpanda · 10/05/2018 20:47

I am feeling much better thanks, after only about 13 hours sleep Blush

Hope your pain relief kicks in soon, have you got 6 days to go then, if it doesn't work I would try 111 and see what they think, they should know if A&E can do anything.

My DS isn't bothered about trains - I love steam trains and I've tried but nope. Animals, soft toys numbers and flowers and Mummy. DH is similar and he loves trains.

Good luck Purple for tomorrow. Hope chemo wasn't too bad Leslie

Crikey vampire...!! I'm terrified...did an 11 mile practice walk yesterday and I am.bareky able to stagger today...and I've got to do 26 on Saturday...I am a journalist and always work to deadline...But I slightly feel I should have broken a habit of a lifetime and started my prep a bit earlier....eeeeek!!
But I'm so pleased I'm doing it...feel my treatment was actually amazing and need to give something back....keep your fingers crossed for me.
Twitter...how was the cupboard (of doom if it's anything like my understands one). And how are you feeling physically? I hope you aren't lonely....and that your sister isn't plaguing you with "helpful" ideas/remarks...Er hope I'm not either!!
Leslie...hope chemo went well today...
Lots of waves to everyone else....and let's done out cake and gin too...xxxx

freddiemercury · 10/05/2018 21:01

Ooh and really good luck tomorrow purple..
Loving the giant teddies...my eldest is possibly aspergers, definitely v dyslexic and dyspraxic and utterly gorgeous....the youngest isn't But is also gorgeous....they are both thugs tho...oh for fluffy toys and flowers!!!

TwitterQueen1 · 10/05/2018 21:30

Freddie cupboard remained untouched Blush. After yet more washing of DDs bedsheets and a trip into town I fell asleep in front of the TV and CBA to do anything. 26 miles?!!! seriously? wow. Very, very good luck with that.

DD2 rang to request shipment of her & her stuff from Notts on Monday - she's coming home for a couple of weeks to finish final essays before returning for graduation celebrations & end of uni.

Where to put it???? exH has insisted on buying each of them stuff they don't use. We have 3 slow cookers, 4 electric blankets, 5 printers, a zillion spice racks, etc etc.

DD1 & BF require transport to airport early Wednesday & return a week later. So I have things to occupy myself with and feel less isolated tx.

Another trip to the podiatrist is required - toenails are painful again and ingrowing. I can honestly say I've had almost had more pain from my toes than I have stage 4 cancer (apart from the op). Leslie what's happening with your toes? There was a question of potential surgery? They should give out badges for # of chemo. I'm on 24 I think (book 2).

Good luck tomorrow Purple

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 22:01

Goodness it's been busy on here. Lovely panda photos! :)

Regina I hope the painkillers help. And yes Buscopan can help too. Mebeverine (Colofac) is good for cramps too, but I don't know if also works on period pains. I'm glad you've got an appointment booked now :)

purple good luck at the breast clinic tomorrow Flowers I'm having chemo indefinitely - until it stops working!

TQ I started my third book last time. I think we should get points we can spend in the hospital shop and cafe! Good that you won't be home alone much longer. Good old Mum's taxi/removals service Grin my toe is better than it was, but I'll definitely be having the surgery when I can fit it in between other appointments. Hopefully that will sort it once and for all! I hope the podiatrist can fix you up without too much discomfort :)

Mrspotter all the very best for your lumpectomy tomorrow Flowers

likeazebra and you for your thyroid surgery - I hope it turns out to be something benign Flowers

Wishing you both a speedy recovery!

Year sorry I meant is it an ultrasound or CT? If CT they'll probably
I know up the whole area, but pelvic ultrasound is presumably internal so would be more limited

Sorry if I've missed anyone with appointments etc tomorrow. Blame my chemo brain! Waving to everyone.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 22:01

Year sorry, that was meant to say "pick up the whole area"

OP posts:
WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 22:47

Also sorry penguins forgot to say good luck for your appointment tomorrow too Flowers

We are a busy lot tomorrow! I shall take it extra easy to balance things out a bit Grin

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 10/05/2018 23:06

Please don't apologise Leslie, you are amazing going through chemo and remembering so much - please take it easy and look after yourself. Sorry we took over your thread with pandas Grin It should just be a sign off for me tomorrow following clear colonoscopy. The bladder ones aren't until Tuesday (CT) / Wednesday (Kidney scan) and even those I'm not worried about as clear cystoscopy in Feb though bleeding is wierd and will be interesting to see what CT shows.

purpleunicorns · 11/05/2018 08:14

Good look with your sign off penguins. I try to think of every hospital appointment as one more down and one step closer to getting better Thanks

Apologies if I've missed anyone else, lots of posts to catch up on over the last couple of days. Good luck to everyone waiting for tests/results

And fingers crossed they come up with a new treatment very soon Leslie so you can have a break from chemo

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 11/05/2018 08:17

How bizarre. I wrote a post, but when I clicked post instead it took me to a thread about Kate being in labour Confused I shall try again...

penguins fingers crossed. It will be good to get another thing crossed off your list :) one step closer to a diagnosis and treatment plan, hopefully.

Good morning everyone else. It looks like it's going to be a lovely day!

OP posts:
WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 11/05/2018 08:18

Thanks purple that would be nice :) though the chemo side effects aren't too bad! Especially now I mostly have my adhesions under control and hayfever/breathlessness seems to be improving. I'm still managing to live my life in between chemo sessions, which is the main thing.

OP posts:
Mrspotter12 · 11/05/2018 08:50

Thanks Leslie xxx it's amazing how you keep track of us all!!!!

MissReginaPhilange · 11/05/2018 09:00

I'm also impressed Lesley. Your a diamond. I don't even know what day it is. Hope everyone is well!

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 11/05/2018 09:07

I just don't like anyone to be forgotten, which can be so easy when the thread is moving quickly and there's lots of different appointments etc. :) I often have no idea what day it is either. Sometimes even the month and year escape me Hmm time seems to fly by so quickly these days!

Currently sat in the breast clinic. They said the lump doesn't seem suspicious but the lymph nodes under my armpit are worrying so I'm waiting for an ultrasound and possibly a biopsy, at least I should get the results straight away.

On the plus side the male doctor who examined me was the most beautiful thing that I think I've been ever seen 😍

MissReginaPhilange · 11/05/2018 09:21

@purple keep us updated hopefully it goes well and it's nothing to worry about good news about the lump here's hoping the nodes follow suit ahhh lucky you . Drs I've seen are always short with moustaches and breath like a camel Grin

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 11/05/2018 09:36

purple at least there's a bit of a silver lining then! Grin good luck with the ultrasound, and biopsy if you need it

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 11/05/2018 10:32

Hello all. I'd been lurking on the previous thread, after getting lots of fantastic support through ovarian cancer testing. I am still (!) awaiting my MRI result, appointment is on 25/05. Cautiously optimistic that I'd have been summoned to the hospital before now if there were serious concerns.

I will read the new thread properly tonight, but have just seen the sad news about Nicky, and wanted to extend my best wishes to her family and those who knew her well. She was so kind and generous with her time, and provided me with support at a time when she had so much to deal with herself. An amazing lady.

YearOfYouRemember · 11/05/2018 12:50

Morning everyone.

purple - hope your biopsy went okay and wasn't as scary as you feared.

How's the pain management today MissRP?.

WWLKD - the GP said scan. I'm not sure what to do if I haven't had it when my next appointment comes around as she definitely said she'd have my scan results by then but I'm also stating in HRT and she wanted to see me to see how I'm getting on. My period finally arrived today so just the 11/12 days late and so I've taken the first HRT tablet. Explains why I've been very low the last couple of days.

Productive day though. Housework, then walked the dog, baked focaccia, wheat germ & raisin cookies and double chocolate cookies. Have emptied and loaded the dishwasher twice, pegged out two wash loads and put on another and vacuumed two rooms. I'll walk the dog in an hour too.

MissReginaPhilange · 11/05/2018 13:09

Oh wow that is productive. I may need some of those recipes Grin I love making bread! Good news on the period arriving. Guessing the hrt can make you all emotional ? Hope you perk up soon.
I'm ok pain relief isnt going really morphine alone didn't work . Topped it up with solpadol before bed and I slept ok but woke up threw up and had a pounding head so I'm just trying to deal with it today . See how it goes
