Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

Thanks Leslie and Penguins for your good luck wishes.

DD has got a follow up for the end of June so I'm guessing that means all is good from the biopsy. I haven't taken her for bloods yet as she wanted to wait until after my surgery. Normally I wouldn't give choices like that however she has enough to deal with emotionally that I've taken this as her saying she's dealing with enough for now - does that even make sense? She's a worrier and I don't want her waiting for and worrying about results whilst I'm not there to talk to.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 15:42

likeazebra that makes sense. I'm sure if the biopsy had been worrying they'd have called her in much sooner. Fingers crossed for her blood tests too.

McZeba · 09/05/2018 18:47

Evening, havent checked back yet as todays put me in the limbo zone and my heads not in the best place.

So Surgeons want to US the so far unaffected breast and do an indepth MRI, they want me to continue to DVT clinic tomorrow as if that rules out an upper extremity clot then it will point to further malignancy n spread from the breast I had removed last year. Feeling very up n down, trying to keep business as usual and smile on but I am tired of this. I'm only day 2 from my 5th Chemo so I guess its a build up of everything.

Will no more one way or the other tomorrow x

penguinsandpanda · 09/05/2018 19:05

Zeba Good luck for tomorrow, sorry you are down, to be expected unfortunately but hope you get some better news soon.

I nearly got confused with a Zeba and a Zebra. Grin

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 19:14

Sending a big hug McZeba and good luck for tomorrow Flowers there's no need to check the other posts. Just take care of yourself and get through the next few days Flowers

Aargh. Good LUCK not look. And me a published writer. The shame Grin. Why does my iPad think it knows better than me?!?!

Thank you, WWLKD.

wombat22 · 09/05/2018 19:41

Zeba Thanks

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 20:10

Oooh a published writer! What have you written? Don't say if you'd rather not, obviously :)

OP posts:
YearOfYouRemember · 09/05/2018 20:16

Not much. A poem in an anthology, a few letters in magazines, an article about my Nana, one about working abroad. So I've over egged my pudding but I needed a boost today.

I'm currently writing a book but that won't be published.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 20:26

I think that's rather impressive :) I love poetry. I get a "poem of the day" email to make myself feel vaguely cultured Grin

Hello and apologies for radio silence, time seems to fly by in a drug induced haze.

I haven't had chance to read the full thread but hello to anyone new, I have been here a couple of months.

I have a nameless very rare cancer in my pelvis. It has spread to 4 nodes and the bone. It's being treated as a gynae cancer and I've received had my first chemo. It wasn't too bad and so far I've had few side effects other than tiredness. I am expecting my hair to fall out next week.

MrsRP your posts stands out following my quick scan. Your symptoms are similar to mine, I was fobbed off by the GP for six months who blamed childbirth and told me to do Pilates. The surgeon subsequently told me a simple internal examination would have noticed the tennis ball sized tumour. So please push for further examination.

I hope to catch up with everyones news later on.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 07:22

Thinking of you today McZeba Flowers

Good morning everyone else. I am just getting ready for chemo today.

Swaying if you're reading, how are you getting on after your first chemo?

I hope everyone has a good day. And sending hand squeezes to everyone who is in limbo at the moment. It's not a nice place to be Flowers

Oops cross-posted with you Swaying! Grin lovely to hear from you. I'm glad you haven't had too many side effects. Rest as much as you can :)

Lesley you are amazing! Yes I have results coming up, and I dare say the docs already have them by now. But my appointment for routine outpatients on Monday. I had bloods taken yesterday, so those results come at the same time,

So all the best to those with tests and treatments today. May it all go gently and helpfully,

TwitterQueen1 · 10/05/2018 08:08

Hope it all goes smoothly today Leslie.
Waves to Freddie - today's potential excitement may include clearing out the cupboard under the stairs... yawn.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 09:41

Good luck Lesley. Hope all goes well.

Hope today goes ok mczeba lots of positive thoughts.
Hope everyone expecting results gets good news.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 10:20

Thanks. This is my 34th cycle of this regime! :)

iVampire ah, good luck for Monday then Flowers

TQ good luck with the tidying. I love clearing out cupboards and things. But not so good at knowing what to do with everything afterwards Grin I hope you find some nice things you’d forgotten you had. That’s always a nice bonus of tidying.

Regina how are you feeling today? Did the doctor call you yesterday? I hope they were helpful :)

OP posts:
MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 10:49

Hey Lesley blimey that's a fair few cycles! Hope all goes well
Yes they did. Urgent gynae referral for cervical exam and Investigations for endo.... I've had to keep kods off school today as I can't physically walk because of the pain. Serious parental guilt today

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 12:21

Regina I’m glad you’ve got your referral. Hopefully you’ll get an appointment quickly. That’s a shame but not your fault! I expect they’re pleased to get a bonus day off :) how old are they? Is there anyone who could take them in for you if this happens again? Flowers

Yes it’s nearly two years of chemo now. But at least it means I know what to expect now! I still get the occasional surprise side effect or delays from the pharmacy not making the drugs quickly enough but otherwise it’s pretty much the same every time :)

Thank you WWLKD.

Hello to everyone.

I have a stupid question. GP has referred me for a scan and I think she said pelvis. Will they also scan my stomach? Also, any ideas for making an 11 day late period come on? I can't take meds' until it does.

YearOfYouRemember · 10/05/2018 12:26

Sorry MissRP. I missed you post. Don't worry about the children. Missing one day won't hurt but is there someone who could help if you can get out another day? Hope the scan brings good news.

MissReginaPhilange · 10/05/2018 13:01

@year my pelvic ultrasound was literaly ovaries and uterus which were clear. Can't check stomach cervix bladder etc she said so rules out some bits but not everything. Hoping yours is clear and you start getting answers

No help at all with the kids from anyone just me and my oh so when he's working a lot its just me.
No idea about the period thing don't think you can bring them on. I could be very wrong tho

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/05/2018 13:02

What type of scan is it Year? And do you have an appointment yet? I hope so :)
