Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

Glad you got a clear from tests Purple hope the thickening is nothing too.

McZeba Hope you dont get too ill this time. Thats a long time no swimming thought chlorine killed everything. Mind you I think
I might have got the pelvic infection from a bath a few days after surgery so probably best to go with it. I love swimming, we also do canoeing if you have a river nearby.

Hope you are feeling OK today Leslie

Just got blood and urine tests done, quite sleepy today.

MissReginaPhilange · 08/05/2018 21:09

Hey ladies. Small update . Im.currently on the floor doubled over in pain and can't move ..nearly threw up the pain is so severe.....last night I did something I haven't done since I was pregnant. I checked my cervix. It felt different to how it normally does lumps on it and rough feeling. Deffo not how it should feel. Wondering if the cervix is the cause of all my issues. Funny how Dr hasn't checked that yet. Hoping everyone is ok . I've got a phone call with the Dr tomorrow. Hoping pain passes soon Sad

YearOfYouRemember · 08/05/2018 21:25

Sad sorry to read this MissRP. Have you got someone with you and pain relief ?

MissReginaPhilange · 08/05/2018 21:28

Thanks @year my partner is here I'm in bed I've had 2 tramadol a coedine and a buscopan and still can't move. Hoping I can sleep it off

penguinsandpanda · 08/05/2018 21:43

Regina I would call 111, they may want you to get checked out tonight in hospital or out of hours, doesn't sound right at all. Hope things improve soon.

purpleunicorns · 08/05/2018 21:45

Regina if it doesn't ease up or gets any worse ring 111 for advice, I've had stage 2 cervical cancer and my pain hasn't been that bad. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

McZeba I'm glad you got to go on the look good feel better workshop, I went a while ago and it's amazing how much stuff you come home with. I have no advise about the swimming as I can't swim Blush
As Leslie said your chemo will still be helping even though they have reduced the dose, some people need more and some need less but it will be making a difference

Thanks year, I just wish I knew one way or the other. It's so frustrating having to wait around not knowing and not being able to do anything about it

How are you TQ? I hope your chicken pie went down well Smile

TwitterQueen1 · 08/05/2018 22:07

Hi Purple the chicken pie went down very well tx Smile. so did the new potato with mustard mayo dressing. Unfortunately I had more pie for breakfast on the Sunday because DSIS is always around 2 hours late with food - except for this one time when she wasn't, so I was unable to eat any of the food she'd made Blush.

I am very bored. I have been on my own for a week and find it very odd. I like my own company but I'm finding it not quite so satisfying when I'm ill and unable to work. Still, not too long til DCs are home for summer hols.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 08/05/2018 22:47

iVampire are you getting your results this week? Good luck if so Flowers

Regina I hope the pain has eased. But if not please call 111. It's not normal to have pain that severe, especially after taking all those painkillers. I have no idea about cervices, but worth mentioning to your doctor so they can have a look.

TQ sorry you're bored. When will your daughters be home for the summer?

penguins fingers crossed for your results

Waving to everyone. Sleep well Star

Unfortunately this is a regular occurrence for me over the past few months amongst other symptoms. A&e just offer morphine and send me home. Goinf to plead woth the Dr tomorrow to help me. Can't continue like this. Hope everyone is ok

penguinsandpanda · 08/05/2018 23:35

Have you been checked for endometrosis Regina I think that can give you massive pain and you need a special test for it. If you are not under a gynecologist at hospital I would push for that but I still would be tempted to try 111 to get seen sooner in that much pain. A&E can be better in the day rather than when they are overwhelmed on Fri/Sat nights. No way you could be pregnant is there? I know you said you had your tubes tied but it can fail. Maybe worth doing a test to be 100% certain to rule out ectopic. I'm under gynae but never had any major pains, just fibroids and irregular bleeding issues so not an expert on pain.

MissReginaPhilange · 08/05/2018 23:51

I had an ultrasound on sunday...ovaries and uterus were fine apparantly but she did warn me that I needed a cervix exam as they can't see the cervix and my symptoms ring true with cervical issues. I did have am ablation when I had my tubes tied and thoight initially it may be something to do with that. Goinf to ask tomorrow for a gynae appointment as something is most definitely not right. The pain is like labour pain but worse in a way as I went through labour 3 times without pain relief. Pain is mostly there but had sex last night and this is how I have needed up. Seems to be every time I've done the deed I get ten times worse for days afterwards.

Taytotots · 09/05/2018 00:15

Addledbrain sorry I meant a buff like one of those circular scarfs you use for face or as head band etc. Just to cover up nose and mouth and protect from cold air as can hurt to breathe in. Hopefully your lovely warm weather will continue and it won't be an issue - when I had my first treatment it was minus figures. Bag balm is a lanolin based cream (attractive name!). I have udderly smooth ones which are good.

MC Zeba I hope the swimming thing not true. Will ask my team if I remember. I can't go at the moment because of peripheral neuropathy and picc line (bought a waterproof cover but it cuts of my circulation so doubt I could swim with it!). Really looking forward to getting back in the water after treatment. Glad your team sorted it so you could still swim Leslie.

MissReginaPhilange · 09/05/2018 06:00

Morning ladies. Hope you all feel wekl. Many apologies for rambling on last night was not in a good place at all. Cocktail of pain relief kept me up til 3 am. Up at just gone 5 with the youngest pain still there Angry

purpleunicorns · 09/05/2018 06:47

Regina please insist on your doctor either seeing you today or at least prescribing some stronger pain killers until you do get seen, it's not normal to be in so much pain especially after taking painkillers.

TQ glad the food went well. It's awful being bored and not having the energy to do anything about it. I tend to read a lot if I'm by myself and not feeling well, or make lists of things I need to do for when I feel a bit better

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 08:46

Endometriosis doesn't always show up on scans. It is diagnosed by laparoscopy (a little camera). But I don't know if it would've shown up during your previous procedures. Another possibility is adhesions/scar tissue. They can cause a surprising amount of pain.

Please try and see the doctor again though Regina. You need better painkillers. I hope you manage to get some rest today after your sleepless night Flowers

Regina...just to slightly put your mind at rest a friend of mine gets exactly this after DTD...literally threw him off once to vomit from the pain. She's gone through every test imaginable and it seems it's hormonal/endometriosis...It's been going on for years. She can DTD about 10 days in a month but otherwise is in agony. Altho it's awful for her...and they haven't found a "cure" it isn't cancer...
That's emphatically not to say you shouldn't go for tests...you absolutely should...but hopefully will reassure you the symptoms aren't necessarily cancer...
TQ...sorry you're bored. Rotten. I have to admit I love the idea of having the house to myself...I loathe skiing (controversial!!!) but husband and boys love it...So I pack th3m off for a week together..for about two days I relish it, then start to m8ss everyone horribly and long for their return. It must be very tricky for you. Have a hug
Leslie...hope all is well with you...
Purple...v much hope the thickening is nothing
And love to everyone else....

MissReginaPhilange · 09/05/2018 11:19

Thanks for your advice ladies. Been reading up on endo whilst waiting for the Dr to call. And it does seem to fit with exactly what's been going on. Even the bowel issues. I think I may push for a laparoscopy so they can look. I also read it can occur after the novasure procedure. I'm hoping it's this and nothing more sinister. The pain is like nothing I've ever experienced and I have quite a high pain threshold.

penguinsandpanda · 09/05/2018 12:37

Just got called by hospital, nothing like a call from hospital day after your cancer blood test to calm the nerves Smile, but was just to say they now need to scan kidneys as well - I am hoping it was original mistake not as result of blood / urine tests though first sample was brown like old blood, second bright red. 😱 Had to take today off as I am exhausted, but not feeling too bad otherwise. I doubt its cancer but not sure what is going on. Now appointments on 11, 15x2 and 16.

Regina I would have thought with that degree of pain something like endo is much more likely than cancer but get all the tests done and gynae advice.

Love to everyone.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 14:00

freddie that sounds awful for your friend! How are you getting on?

Regina do you have any more appointments or tests booked at the moment? I hope you are feeling better today Flowers

penguins good that they're being thorough, but sorry it worried you. Are those appointments at a nearby hospital? I hope so!

I've got the go ahead for chemo tomorrow :)

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 09/05/2018 14:15

Glad you got the go ahead Leslie 3 out of 4 are at the nearby hospital, other one on 11 is about 30 mins away but should just be a sign off.

likeazebra · 09/05/2018 14:29

Sorry to hear the sad news about Nicky, sending love to those who knew her.

I was diagnosed June 16 with Neuroendocrine cancer in my small bowel and spread to lymph nodes. Got surgery Friday to see if it's spread to my thyroid.

I've just had a catch up as had a little break from all forum type sites, hello to all the newbies hope you are finding out how wonderfully supportive this thread is. To everyone else good luck with tests and treatment coming up.

Mrspotter12 · 09/05/2018 14:43

Just popped in to leave a quick update!

likeazebra · 09/05/2018 14:58

Good luck MrsP I will be with you in spirit.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 09/05/2018 15:03

MrsP good that you've got a definite treatment plan. Will that be a day surgery or will you be there overnight?

likeazebra how is your daughter? Fingers crossed for your thyroid.

penguins good that you won't have too far to travel.

OP posts:
penguinsandpanda · 09/05/2018 15:05
