Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

Ooh fingers crossed that you manage to get it penguins 🤞

Hopefully they get back to you soon jaysus, waiting around is the worst bit. I found keeping busy helped, my house was spotless for a couple of weeks while I was waiting Grin

How are you doing vampire? My son is also playing on his computer revising, he has about 6 exams to go and then he's finished

That hat is fab Mrspotter! I wish I could make stuff. I could probably manage a scarf but that's about it

penguinsnpandas · 30/05/2018 12:33

They just accepted on house.

Saw hospital today - blood test was free of cancer, CT just showed small ovarian cyst, suspected fibroids, enlarged adrenal gland and lots of white and red blood cells in urine. Wants me to have cystoscopy under general anaesthetic next week or week after. Thought not cancer but said need to go to doctor about enlarged adrenal gland but said its not part of kidneys. Tbh didn't really have a clue what he was on about but looking online says regulates hormones and enlarged normally means a tumour which is either cancerous and benign. Got impression its benign though not sure how he knows, maybe blood tests. Said something about bladder treatment. Does anyone know about adrenal glands? Going to ask my doctor.

Jaysus Hope you get appointment soon.
iVampire my 12 year old tells me she supposed to be revising but she's not, I guess at least its honest.

MrsP Beautiful hat, you are very talented.

Purple Hope you are OK. Leslie Enjoy the hols.

Mrspotter12 · 30/05/2018 16:00

Thanks for the hat compliments! Not going to need one for a while as I am booked in for a mastectomy next week.
They found a second lump (in a different quarter) and two of the four lymph nodes had cancer as well.
I will have a staging scan at some point and will be referred for genetic testing.
Cried in doctors office and would like to cry now but can't really until tonight 😿😿😿

chasegirl · 30/05/2018 16:43

Had the results of my wide local excision today. They thought I gad dcis intermediate stage but it now looks like invasive intermediate breast cancer. Got another operation tomorrow to remove lymph nodes in my armpit to see if there is any evidence of spreading.
The cancer itself was 4mm in size so that has all been removed.

This is shit

penguinsnpandas · 30/05/2018 17:09

So sorry to hear your news MrsP and chase Thinking of you both, hope the operation isn't too bad tomorrow and hope they can get good treatment plans. Sorry I don't know about breast cancer, wish I could write something useful, but if you want to chat / moan I'm around and hopefully someone more knowledgeable will appear too.

chasegirl · 30/05/2018 17:12

Thank you penguins I don't know much but am learning fast
Sad

purpleunicorns · 30/05/2018 17:16

Penguins positive news that it seems more likely that it's a benign tumour, although not knowing what's wrong is awful. You must just want a definite answer so you can get it sorted. I know nothing about adrenal glands but hopefully someone on here will have some advice

chase it really is shit isn't it? Hopefully your lymph nodes will be fine, will you get the results straight away tomorrow or will you have to wait?

Aw Mrsp have you told anyone about your results? I hope you have good support around you. People get through this, I KNOW it's really hard right now but you can do this Thanks

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 30/05/2018 17:39

Shit is definitely the word chase

Flowers for you both. I hope you can get the next surgeries scheduled quickly. The waiting around feeling like you're not "doing" anything makes it much harder.

OP posts:
chasegirl · 30/05/2018 17:53

As far as I know I will have to wait 2 weeks for the results

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 30/05/2018 17:58

Will you be in overnight chase or is it a day procedure? I hope it goes smoothly Flowers

Waves to all - I'm afraid I haven't much been on mumsnet for years, life got in the way and all that. I was tempted on today by the "cancer is a gift" thread Shock and as this morning I've been to GP and been told he will 2 week refer me to the breast clinic, thought I would drop in here and say hi. I was here from 2011 when i had a lumpectomy and radio, so I know what my lump could mean, though I'm holding out for something benign this time as lump has been there a while but does not show up on mammogram. Didn't insist on breast clinic first time I complained about it and as I was on tamoxifen was not unduely worried. Since I have stopped tamoxifen it has grown, so I am a bit worried. Anyway, parking it here and going to see if I can dig out something to drink this evening Wine

flourella · 30/05/2018 18:24

AhJaysus sorry to hear you don't have an appointment yet. Waiting for mine to come around is bad enough but not knowing when it might be would clearly be worse.

MrsP and chase sorry that you have both received news that you were hoping to not hear. I really hope that your surgeries go smoothly and that effective treatment plans can be devised quickly. I am only waiting to have a lump investigated, but I've learned so much about breast cancer in the last week. Even though I'm afraid I'll be found to have it, at the same time I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like to be actually diagnosed. Like being cast into a different dimension.

penguins fingers crossed that your doctor is right and it is benign. And well done on having your offer on the house accepted! How exciting! I only rent but I hate my flat and I'm hoping to move soon as well.

chasegirl · 30/05/2018 18:47

Just in for the day for the op. They squeezed me in so am last on the list for tomorrow of I would have another week to wait so that was good. Had to rush me up to the ward thus afternoon to do the pee op stuff

YearOfYouRemember · 30/05/2018 18:53

Hello everyone. Been hectic as dh away so parenting alone.

So sorry to hear your news chase.

MrsPotter Flowers.

AhJaysus - sorry you're still waiting. Me too. Four weeks is Friday so if I haven't heard by then I'll be ringing again.

Small amount of blood loss yesterday. Stomach pain today but tbh that was after lunch out where I ate more than I have in ten days (steak bun and thick chips with salad, so not humongously greedy.)

Feeling emotionally very unhappy so just not able to focus on anything.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

chasegirl · 30/05/2018 19:25

Pre op!! Smile

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 30/05/2018 21:05

Grin at pee op chase! I'm glad they managed to squeeze you in quickly

Year definitely worth pestering them - four weeks is ages. Sorry you're feeling rough.

Chocolate for Mrspotter and for everyone else waiting for tests etc.

FlowersFlowers for MrsP and Chase - hope your procedures all go well and sorry to hear your news. You’re in the right place especially if you need a rant or moan as Leslie says...

I am also in the midst of buying a house Penguins! It is exciting to think of finally settling in our new house soon - I hope all goes smoothly for you!

addlebrained · 30/05/2018 21:12

And hi to choc - sorry you’re back but hope it’s all benign when you get seen!

Sorry you’re feeling awful Year - it is such a stressful time and single parenting is even more tiring on top of that so Flowers for you too

Taytotots · 31/05/2018 00:37

Good luck to chase and Mrs P for your procedures. Good they were able to squeeze you in chase.
Year and AhJaysus sorry you are still waiting. Definitely hard being in limbo. Hope you hear soon.
I had to have my picc line out today due to infection. Doesn't seem too bad but on antibiotics. Not sure if it is those or chemo that is making me feel so sick. On the plus side though I am looking forward to a nice long soak in bath without worrying about getting line wet.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 07:07

Good luck today chase Flowers

Tayto sorry to hear about your infection but I hope you enjoyed your bath! Fingers crossed the antibiotics will work quickly :)

I'm hoping stupid hayfever/breathlessness will improve soon so I can climb the stairs without so much drama Hmm I think I'll be back to the GP next week to discuss stronger medication as none of the OTC tablets seem to be doing anything and my inhaler is only helping a bit. I had a very exciting dream that I could run without getting out of breath Grin
