Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

TOTS great news, all the best for the future!

Purple good luck for your MRI tomorrow, easier said then done but try to stay positive. When will you get your results?

I was quite Ill yesterday. Very weak, dizzy, feeling sick, no appetite and a very bloated upper stomach. Felt better this morning so went to work but just after 3 hours it was to much and I nearly fainted so home again. Hoping it's just a stomach bug as so know there's one going around

addlebrained · 26/05/2018 11:32

Good news gin! Enjoy the bank holiday weekend! (That goes for everyone of course!)

Good luck Purple with MRI - fingers crossed all your symptoms are totally unrelated and all goes well

Hope you feel better soon move - those bugs are yuk...

Hope you’re ok tayto - fantastic that’s 3/4 way through poxy oxy! It is just awful though, so roll on the next few days when the tin man effect wears off!

purpleunicorns · 26/05/2018 12:31

Thanks Move and Addle, no idea about results. I'm guessing I won't get them for a couple of weeks unless they find something urgent then I suspect they will ring me before then. I think I'm just having scanxiety at the minute. Although the amount of scans I've had I should be used to them by now Grin

Good luck on Monday with your scan Move, if you ask them when you go in they should give you a rough timescale on when to expect results

flourella · 26/05/2018 12:34

Gin I'm so pleased that you received good news, and at the appointment itself with no waiting. What a relief for you. And thank you so much for that very detailed account of what goes on. I'm going to have to look further into this issue with mammograms and very small breasts, in preparartion for my own, so thanks also for that warning(!) Actually, can anyone here who is also less well-endowed speak from their own experience? Does it hurt a lot?

I'm very pleased to read that other people here have had good news after recent scans.

purple I hope your MRI goes well and that your new symptoms are found to be caused by nothing serious. Move sorry you're not well, but glad you are at home resting instead of struggling at work.

Leslie thanks again for chatting to me the other day. I hope you have a lovely holiday next week.

Move12345 · 26/05/2018 17:21

Thank you Purple will make sure I ask.

Flourella attempted rest my 2 kids didn't agree with me resting! Feel better within myself. I just have a horrid dull aching pain under my Right ribs which goes into my back. Stomach around my ribs is very tender to touch

diege · 26/05/2018 19:45

So sorry to intrude but have been advised by another poster to ask here after originally positing in the life limiting disease thread...
Just had the news today that Brother in Law has suspected bowel cancer and that a cancer CFE blood test has been ordered. My googling brings nothing up and wondered if anyone knew what this test was please?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 26/05/2018 19:53

Hi diege I'm sorry about your brother in law's diagnosis. I have bowel cancer too but I've never heard of that test. They couldn't have misheard it from CEA could they? That's one of the tumour markers that his team might be monitoring. (The other is CA19-9, but that's quite a stretch to CFE!)

OP posts:
diege · 26/05/2018 20:03

Thank you so much - yes a good change it could have been CEA that they said and he misheard. We're at the waiting stage just now, so biopsy results in 2 weeks which seems a very long wait! Thank you again for answering Smile

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 26/05/2018 20:22

I may be entirely wrong but it was the only possibility I could think of given that Dr Google has no ideas! :) good luck with the biopsy results.

OP posts:
diege · 26/05/2018 22:01

Thank you. They've said two weeks for the biopsy results but just wondering if it would be sooner if 'bad' news - or doesn't it work like that? Confused

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 26/05/2018 23:22

It probably won't be much sooner. It's not a bureaucractical delay, but due to the time needed for the biopsy process itself. They may contact him a bit sooner if it's bad news, but it will certainly take most of that time to get the results. And a few days here or there won't make any difference to his prognosis so if he already has a follow up appointment then they may well just wait and give the results then regardless.

Sorry I'm not entirely sure that made any sense. I'm in mega chemo brain mode at the moment Blush

Goodnight everyone Star

addlebrained · 27/05/2018 03:19

It made total sense Leslie!
I agree - they also take results to a meeting with other doctors to discuss a plan of action too for further scans etc. That way it’s not just ‘here are the results’ but also ‘...and this is the plan’ and sometimes this is can be done in the time before the appointment. I hope it is good news for him though Flowers

penguinsnpandas · 27/05/2018 09:26

Turn So glad to hear you got the all clear, hope they can sort the endo out.
Gin and McZeba Congrats too.

Purple Good luck for MRI, hoping its all clear.

Leslie Have a lovely holiday.

Love to everyone. Currently in France with MIL, going to Monet's garden today. House went to someone else, said to DH I should have ignored him and gone higher and he agreed. Smile

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 28/05/2018 09:37

Good morning

Ah phew thanks addled sometimes I come out with complete nonsense for which I blame the steroids entirely Grin

purple fingers firmly crossed for your results Flowers hopefully the symptoms are "just" from the anxiety

Move12345 good luck with your CT scan

penguins sorry about the house, but enjoy your holiday

Waving to everyone else

purpleunicorns · 28/05/2018 10:23

Flourella I had a mammogram and although it was uncomfortable it wasn't painful and it was over really quickly. Maybe take some paracetamol before you go in? Disclaimer: I am not a doctor and I have no idea if that would help Grin

What a shame about the house penguins, hopefully it just wasn't meant to be and you'll find another one you love soon. Hope you enjoy your holiday

I hope the chemo fog starts to lift soon Leslie Thanks

flourella · 28/05/2018 12:07

Move I hope you are feeling better than you were the other day, and good luck for your CT scan.

I seem to have got used to the lump and the fact that I have to wait at least another week to find out what it is. Which is good, I suppose. It means I'm not worrying about painful mammograms right now, but thanks for the tip about paracetamol; I'll look into it and maybe get some in.

Move12345 · 28/05/2018 15:28

WhatWould Thank You, straight forward. Didn't take long Smile

flourella Pain here today. Can be very comfortable. Had it the pain yesterday too but was just a little nagging pain nothing major.

flourella · 28/05/2018 16:04

Move well, I hope even more that the doctors can figure out the cause, and that it is something straightforward that can be dealt with quickly. Are you needing to take more time off work being busily 100% occupied with your children taking it easy?

Move12345 · 28/05/2018 19:03

flourella I'm zero contract hours so I can'take time off due to bills. I only work weekends so it's not to bad

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 29/05/2018 18:21

On holiday at the moment so just checking in quickly. I hope everyone is alright :)

penguins good luck tomorrow

OP posts:
penguinsnpandas · 29/05/2018 18:51

Hope you are having a lovely holiday Leslie and thanks for the wishes for tomorrow. Not sure what's going on with the house, phoned today to find out details and they said it hadn't gone to anyone else but was a bit higher than ours but below asking price so raised our bid and EA has recommended they accept. Still waiting to hear though.

Hope everyone is fine.

Move12345 · 29/05/2018 22:51

Whatwould hope you're having a fabulous time away

AhJaysusHowaya · 29/05/2018 23:41

Evening all, just popping back with a little update (of sorts).

I still haven't had an appt through yet so phoned the gp surgery today. They chased it up and called me back to say I am on the referral list but they are dealing with a backlog and that they still have til Friday to contact me within the 2 week period.

So I'm still waiting and starting to feel anxious Hmm

Hope everyone else is doing ok x

iVampire · 30/05/2018 06:16

Just checking in, midway through a half term with teenagers. They are (allegedly) revising, at least some of the time.

I hope those on holiday are having a blissfully untroubled time. And that those with appointments, tests and results have as straightforward a week as possible

Mrspotter12 · 30/05/2018 07:10

Ok, am rocking the hat - just finished my first one!
