Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

A massive Good Luck chase & MrsP hope it all goes as smoothly as possible Flowers

4 days since CT pain hasn't been here for 2 days which is good. Extremely tired though. No follow up appointment as of yet

penguinsnpandas · 31/05/2018 15:43

Thanks Purple How are you?

Leslie Hope you get help with breathing.

Hope op goes OK today Chase

Had Occ Health today, they say I need to be off work and should also see neurologist to do MRI to add to my hospital appointment collection. Plus cystoscopy under general. Oh joy though not too bothered about sign off. House has come off market Grin Hope your purchase goes well too Addle and hope you can get somewhere soon Flourella, all so expensive now, bought my first flat for 40k, those where the days.

Love to everyone else.

chasegirl · 31/05/2018 16:30

Procedure seems to have gone OK, am back home with my feet up. Have a bit of a blue tinge to my skin due to the radioactive dye. No one told me that bit Confused

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 16:56

chase I'm glad it went alright. The blue dye can last ages. Hopefully one of the others who has had it will be along shortly to say how long! Do you have an appointment for the results yet?

penguins can they tell you what tests to have?! Confused I thought it was more like special chairs and phased return to work type stuff. What's the difference between cystoscopy under GA and not? I mean aside from the obvious!

Waving to everyone

YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 17:11

Oh. Can you rock the Smurf look? .

I just rang about my appointment to be told nothing yet, might be another four weeks. I said I'll call again in a couple of weeks if nothing. She said I can and I can go up there and jump up and down but it won't change anything. Bleeding more today with strange stomach pains so worried a lot bit.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 17:14

Four more weeks?! Was it an urgent referral? To be honest I'd go back to your GP and ask them to chase it up. That seems like an awful long time to wait!

OP posts:
penguinsnpandas · 31/05/2018 17:17

I've been told its quite different Leslie, guess they get a bigger poke around Grin but don't understand why its different.

The OH lady is a private doctor and she's actually very useful medically as you get 1.5 hours talking to her whereas at GPs its 10 mins and that's normally gone with my history Grin. Only did a cystoscopy in Feb, I think you should get a year's break between these minimum but nevermind. Grin

Chase Glad it went OK, even if you now look scary to small children. Wink

YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 17:37

WWLKD I spoke to the referral lady at the surgery last week and she said the referral wasn't marked as urgent. I'm seeing the GP on Monday so will tell her then. The lady at the hospital was horrible from the first contact tbh.

purpleunicorns · 31/05/2018 17:49

Glad it went ok chase, although sorry you're blue. I didn't know that was a thing Confused

I good thanks penguins, I've had no call from the hospital about my MRI results yet so I'm keeping everything crossed that no news is good news. Congratulations on the house! I love moving house and doing it up how I want

Year that's ridiculous, surely it can't take them ANOTHER 4 weeks?! When you see your GP explain that your symptoms have worsened and hopefully you'll get sorted sooner

chasegirl · 31/05/2018 17:55

Got results appointment booked for 13th June see what happens next

YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 17:56

Could the bleeding be due to starting HRT? I've also been on antibiotics since Sunday. I've had this bleeding before but I'm getting more bothered. I have the symptoms, well some, for OC, but have been told I can't have it as I had a scan two years ago that was okay and I'd be more poorly Confused.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 18:17

Year NHS website lists bleeding as a possible side effect of HRT so hopefully it's that. I'm not suggesting ovarian cancer is likely, but that's an extremely dangerous attitude from the doctor. It is often undiagnosed for ages (just ask TQ!) because it doesn't have many symptoms and they're quite vague ones that are easily dismissed as age or IBS etc.

chasegirl good luck for 13th :)

purple keeping my fingers crossed for no news being good news Flowers

penguins oh right that's very handy! I'm glad she was helpful. Can she sign you off as well then to save having to see the GP? My cystoscopy was under GA but I assumed that was for my benefit!

OP posts:
penguinsnpandas · 31/05/2018 18:30

She said she was signing me off Leslie though I don't know if work accept that as think work claim back SSP so may need a doctors certificate but see what they say. My doctor is quite easy to get one out of at least.

Year So sorry you've got to wait, I have found its forever on NHS if you aren't put through on 2ww, my bladder cancer one took 6 months. It's no wonder the UK's cancer survival rates aren't great though when you are put through slowly it does at least mean there's a much higher chance of it being nothing. I have switched to private via work but you really shouldn't have to. I'm mid 40s and get lots of irregular bleeding to and neg for uterine / smear (its fibroids). Do you have option of private hospital on the NHS, that's the only way I have speeded things up.

YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 19:20

I've had a different doctor say I've probably got IBS.

I am so much heavier than I used to be but don't look that more weight heavier. Does that make sense.

My dh immediately said yes when I just asked if I could go private but I'll wait until I've seen my GP on Monday.

Dh is back home so that's something. He's not impressed with the jumping comment.

Jchocchip · 31/05/2018 19:26

Glad your procedure went well chase, I had forgotten blue dye and now remember something about funny colour wee. I've had a crap day today, so forgive me that I have been on that Ali thread and suggested he is a fake. The bloody video from 2016 is just a step too far for me. It looks fake. I've not got my appointment at breast clinic yet, it is supposed to be 2 week referral so I guess it will be before my holiday. I'm angsting about telling my boyfriend, don't think I will just yet, he is likely to worry like crazy and I don't want to inflict that on him :( did someone mention adrenal? It's rare as a primary tumour, but plays with your hormones.

puttingthegenieback · 31/05/2018 20:08

I came on here to re-post what I posted today by mistake at the end of the previous thread (Leslie redirected me in her usual kind and gentle way), but then I saw that Nicky died earlier this month. I'm so sorry to hear this terribly sad news. Sending love and sympathy to her family and her many friends.

addlebrained · 31/05/2018 20:11

2 years ago for last scan is quite a long time Year although starting HRT can definitely give you irregular bleeding... did you say you’d already been back to the GP about your symptoms, given the long wait for the appointment? They could at least arrange an urgent ultrasound scan while you wait to see the hospital lot??

YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 20:42

I am waiting for a pelvic scan. I'll see the GP on Monday. She's expecting me to have had the scan by then though.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 20:50

Hello lovely genie :) feel free to post it anyway - I can only imagine nicky would be ranting along with us at insensitive cancer twats!

penguins fingers crossed :)

Year it's good you've got that option open then, but hopefully the GP can speed up the referral. Have you had a CA125 blood test? Sorry if you've already said. My phone doesn't like scrolling up anymore!

Chocolate for jchoc and other newbies awaiting results. Hopefully you'll soon get some good news and won't need to stick around (I don't mean to be unwelcoming, but I'm sure you'd rather not be here! Grin)

I coughed so hard I threw up while out for a short walk earlier Blush

OP posts:
YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 21:15

I haven't had that blood test. The GP did say she wasn't saying she thought I had cancer but that she likes to be proactive rather than reactive. I'm probably blowing it all out of proportion but I'm worried and don't feel well.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 31/05/2018 21:17

It might be worth asking for that while you're waiting for the scan. It's understandable that you are worried Flowers

OP posts:
YearOfYouRemember · 31/05/2018 21:37

I've made a note, thank you Flowers.

addlebrained · 31/05/2018 21:38

Yes I agree with Leslie - when you see them on Monday just explain what you’re worried about and see if there are any other bloods you can have that will give more clues etc - if nothing else you will feel more proactive too. Good luck

puttingthegenieback · 31/05/2018 22:26

Leslie I'm sorry about the coughing-so-hard-you-threw-up cough. I think it is not an unusual human experience in general (I know it happens to me at the end of nearly every cold I catch, for example!) but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable.
Sending hugs and hand-holding to everyone awaiting results, which unfortunately is a constant state of affairs on this thread. I find waiting for test outcomes one of the very worst parts of this super-fun journey. I recently went for my first post-op/post-radiation sonogram, and surprised myself by bursting into tears at the end; I'd thought I was feeling very calm about the whole thing! Fortunately the very kind nurse in the room was not surprised at all.

TwitterQueen1 · 31/05/2018 22:36

Warning: I'm steroid wired after chemo and fired by several glasses of wine - just saying...

Leslie sorry to hear about the breathing / hay fever etc. I feel like a heffalump. Breathless and knackered. I also throw up sometimes when I'm doing my teeth at night. Coughing? gag reflex? who knows. I hope you are still managing to enjoy your week away.

Jchoc how very dare you Wink. that thread is mindblowingly frustrating. NO you can't talk about that. NO that's irrelevant. NO you're derailing...

year sorry I'm not up to speed on your symptoms and profile. I have ovarian cancer. I wasn't poorly at all until I got to stage 4 and then it was my partially collapsed lung and 8 litres of fluid on my stomach that took me to the doctor. But I'm 58 and I have in mind that you're very young? Happy to help if I can.

I finished cycle 6 (in this round) today. I can't celebrate - it's just a temporary lapse.

I totally fell to pieces when parking outside the hospital today because of a random act of kindness. I don't normally drive to chemo - it's easier and cheaper for me to take the train but there were signalling ishoos today. A man offered me his remaining ticket and I said sorry it's not long enough, I'm having chemo, and then he gave me £2 and I collapsed in tears and hugged him. Sometimes it's so hard coping on my own.. I am a lone parent and have no partner. DCs are away. I'm absolutely fine until someone asks me if I'm OK or does something nice...

If you have the opportunity please pass on a RAK on my behalf.

Plus the rat (aka teacup Yorkie that I am dogsitting) wee'd on me AGAIN tonight. Thank goodness she is a teacup! Can you imagine a pint of pee? NO!! don't even go there...
