Good evening

Our previous thread is here

If you've got cancer, this is the thread for you. Introduce yourself and feel free to ask any questions. We also welcome anyone who is waiting for cancer tests. We know how scary it can be. So don't be shy. We will happily hold your hand and hopefully wave goodbye when you get good news :)

Wow. That’s pinktastic iVampire!

Good luck freddie Star we will be cheering you on with Cake and Gin and blister plasters

iVampire · 12/05/2018 11:41

It’s even more pink IRL (rather than through a grubby bus window)

I’m wondering what sort of bra Freddie might wear. For some reason, I’m thinking magenta feathers with gold accents

penguinsandpanda · 12/05/2018 11:51

This is quite a good article:

purpleunicorns · 12/05/2018 12:27

Great news Mrsp, take it easy and get everyone to run around after you Smile

Mczeba you just concentrate on getting getting yourself better, we'll still be here when you're feeling up to it Thanks

Penguins that's great news, another thing ticked off the list

That looks fab vampire! Best of luck Freddie and let us know how you get onStar

Hope your iPad is behaving itself Leslie

chasegirl · 12/05/2018 12:55

Thank you all. Will come up with a few lines to start talking to her this evening so we then have all tomorrow for questions etc.

Will tell her school on Monday too I think

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 12/05/2018 15:02

Good luck chasegirl Flowers

I hope it goes as well as possible. And it's definitely sensible to tell the school so they can keep an eye on her, and be understanding if it affects her behaviour there.

Hello chasegirl so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I'd be telling your dd the bear minimum and sung examples to show her she doesnt have magic powers to stop or make things happen. You'll worry if she's there and you need her to be with her daddy while you get stronger. Something like that?

In other news. I had my nails done today. £10 in Superdrug and they look fab.

chasegirl · 12/05/2018 19:56

It went well with DD. Kept it simple and factual explained what was happening and why. She seemed to understand and wasn't upset.
That might change when things become real I guess

pepperrabbit · 12/05/2018 23:09

Evening all, I tend to lurk these days so popping in to wish everyone well. FlowersWineCake

iVampire · 13/05/2018 06:49

That’s a big hurdle cleared, chasegirl

How long do you expect to be in for?

iVampire · 13/05/2018 06:50

And I hope freddie is enjoying a nice survivors breakfast somewhere

likeazebra · 13/05/2018 09:22

Good morning all Smile

Chase sorry you have to be here, it sounds like you have done the right thing with your DD. My own DD was 9 at the time of my diagnosis (not BC) and along with her elder brothers we told them everything and promised them if it's bad or good we will be honest, that way there would be no putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 9! They have astounded me with how well they cope and support each other however all children are different and you know yours best so go with your gut instincts.

My surgery went well, it took a lot longer than planned and as well as half my thyroid containing a nodule there was a nodule on it too, they have also removed a lymph node that looks involved and not very nice as well as some abnormal tissue they found. It's the waiting game for results again now although thankfully the pain is taking my mind off that at the moment.

Good wishes to you all.

MissReginaPhilange · 13/05/2018 09:40

@chase so sorry your going through all this. Glad your dd seemed to understand. Sending lots of love your way
@likeazebra sorry your in so much pain. Praying for you that your results come back better than you expect. There is nothing worse than having to wait around.
My irrational fears are rearing their ugly head again. Swelling has become even worse. Pain is getting worse...struggles to walk ten minutes to the shop yesterday. And also this morning tmi alert but in getting loads of brown discharge. I haven't bled since last year when I had my ablation so this is particularly worrying. Have popped a pic on so you can see the bleeding the tattoo free one is 2 months ago.. the tattoo one is yesterday. Doesn't look a great deal but for me it's huge.. Just praying I'm being stupid and it's something or nothing. Need Wednesday to come quicker Sad

Chase Glad your DD was OK.

Likeazebra Glad surgery went well but sorry you are in pain and they found things that look strange, good luck for results.

Regina Sorry to hear your pain is worse and you've got bleeding. You are so thin in the first one, I looked up endo and it says it can cause swelling. Also how long have you not been exercising for? I have put on weight from not exercising for 6 months, gone up from size 8 to more 10-12 at 5 foot 6, didn't realise until they weighed me in March thought clothes were shrinking! Hoping they can find an innocent cause. The gynae will go through everything. If you feel bad though go to A&E/phone 111 but go before the evening so you miss the drunks. If you start getting red blood I would definitely get checked out today, brown is old.

chasegirl · 13/05/2018 11:06

iVampire I am just in for day surgery on Thursday- a lumpectomy. Hopefully will be home the same day. Will then have radiotherapy for 3 weeks don't know when yet tho.
DD might get more concerned after t h e surgery it might make it more real for her then

penguinsandpanda · 13/05/2018 11:13

Do you have someone to look after her whilst you are in hospital, if they can make it fun - mine made pancakes when I had surgery (just for fibroids) - that will take her mind off things. I just got told I should be quicker when I go to hospital in future by my son and to make sure the doctors don't keep me in so long next time, I had a general Grin

MissReginaPhilange · 13/05/2018 11:15

Thanks @penguins the slim one is my natural size I was actuallu doing to the gym to gain weight believe it or not so my natural build is slightly slimmer than the picture . I think im.just going to try and keep myself busy with the kiddos and see if it gets any worse. I'm praying for endo as odd as that sounds. Or even something innocent. I'm making iced buns woth the little ones to keep me busy for a couole of hours.

purpleunicorns · 13/05/2018 13:03

Fingers crossed Regina that it is nothing too serious, swelling can be caused by so many different things that it's more than likely something other than cancer. Good luck for Wednesday Thanks Awesome tattoo btw Grin

Hi Pepper how are you doing?

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 13/05/2018 13:19

chase I'm glad it went OK :) is she staying with her dad after your op? You might be a bit groggy and uncomfortable.

pepper long time, no see. How are you getting on?

freddie how did it go?! Hopefully you're having a well-earnt rest!

zebra sorry the op was more complicated than planned. Fingers crossed for your results - do you know when you'll hear back? I hope that the pain improves soon Flowers

Regina sorry you're not feeling great. Only a couple of days until Wednesday so hopefully then they can put your mind at rest a bit Flowers there are so many causes of bloating etc. like purple says, so hopefully it is something harmless. Iced buns sound like an excellent distraction :)

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 13/05/2018 13:26

Flowers penguins how unpleasant for you. I hope this next round of tests will finally give you some answers.

MaggieMeldrum · 13/05/2018 13:31

I’ll try to keep this quite short. I am 43 and was referred to a gynaecologist after having some gynaecology issues. They have ruled out infections, fibroids or cysts. There is an area of my uterus that has an abnormal amount of thickening and has fluid around it too. This needs further investigation and this Friday I will be having a hysterocopy and probably a biopsy too. My doctor said it is “quite possible” that it is uterine cancer. I am absolutely terrified and struggling to go about my normal day to day stuff. How the hell do I push this to the back of my mind and just get on with life?

chasegirl · 13/05/2018 13:37

Penguins and Whatwould she's at school and then does an after school club so she's busy till 4.30 then we might be stopping at my parents for the night depending on how I feel. Her Dad would have her overnight again if I needed him too it all depends how it goes on Thursday
