For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information \link{http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthandsocialcaretopics/FiveADay/FiveADaygeneralinformation/DH_4001494 \here} (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

Oh Avi I had meant to come back on and try to sell you a Mooncup

I gather from your earlier post it has been really heavy. Hope it is not too unpleasant for you.

Tatties · 20/04/2007 22:08

God no, aviatrix, it means a lot. I had really got used to the convenience of never having one, and never having to feel rough with period pain while looking after ds. It does affect you emotionally, my pmt has got much worse since having ds. Do get a Mooncup, makes things so much nicer (I actually looked forward to getting my period so I could try it!)

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 22:23

We're often relaxed on the weekend, I'll talk to DS1 about a trip maybe, when I see him tomorrow.

Oh, and we have cats, who don't do that.

I would say I've never seen such a filthy habit, but that would be a lie. An ex of mine had a cat, who would always have the first piece of cereal from his bowl in the morning [puke].

Actually, she would eat unlimited quantities of puffed cereals, which was fun. But gross from one's bowl.

Overrun · 20/04/2007 22:39

NQC, have you got the right thread, I am not sure what you are talking about [confused emoticon]

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 22:48

See aviatrix's post of 21:30:46, and Frances' response.

You got me all worried there, I do sometimes post on entirely the wrong thread.

Overrun · 20/04/2007 22:51

I'm with you now, I was on a thread the other week and some one posted on the it, thinking it was another thread. Easily done I guess
Well I think I am going to turn in for the eveing folks.
Catch up with you all tomorrow no doubt

FrannyandZooey · 20/04/2007 23:07

Yes come up at the weekend NQC - on the Sundays we have brass bands in the park - would your two find that entertaining?

It is really good to see you Overrun and I hope your PC lets you come and see us more frequently in future

OP posts:
Tatties · 20/04/2007 23:16

FrannyandZooey · 20/04/2007 23:22

A-ha well I think we are a bit out of your way Tatties

Fillyjonk · 21/04/2007 08:06

at meet ups.

i have fluey thing which i am sure was caused by excessive exercise, aha won't do that again. but explains my general lack of interest in knitting etc yesterday

still have to take kids out for day, dp has his SODDING dissertation to write...

FrannyandZooey · 21/04/2007 08:07

Oh Filly I am sorry. Is there something nice that you can do?

I am not convinced that exercise can give you the flu, but then what do I know

OP posts:
Fillyjonk · 21/04/2007 08:11

oh no, isn't there a name for it even?

you get all enthused and go prancing off to the gym and then you come down with fluey thing (ok possibly a mild cold-actually I feel lousy though) and never go again. well it alwaus happens to me.

i was enthsed by your email, i wil reply soon

NotQuiteCockney · 21/04/2007 08:19

I feel okish this morning, startlingly enough, what with a) stupid late night MNing, b) ILs coming today c) insane recent exercise schedule (hadn't run for a month or so, ran Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) oh, and d) coming to terms with the fact I do have sodding hayfever.

This am I am off to the local mall to do some shopping (camisole of some sort, bits of food, few more gifts for DH's birthday). Got lots of fruit in a delivery this morning.

If anyone sees fresh peas in the pod, please let me know. I'm sure they're due any day now, and I really really want some [glutton].

Cappuccino · 21/04/2007 08:58

at your little meet-ups

no-one lives near me I'll wager

thanks for the concern re my problems Franny but I must learn to fend for myself in the real world

I shall attempt to concentrate all my madness onto obsessions with spinach and counting

TooTicky · 21/04/2007 09:31

Ooh, friendly MNers not too far away? How nice

TooTicky · 21/04/2007 09:32

Where are you Cappucino?

NotQuiteCockney · 21/04/2007 09:33

Frances, the card arrived this morning and scared the bejeezus out of me, you'll be happy to know. I put it in my 'hand addressed' pile, so opened it expecting a form and cheque for antenatal classes. And found shiny stars falling out. And thought 'dear god one of them really has gone completely insane and is now decorating the enrollment form out of desperation'.

Greensleeves · 21/04/2007 10:00

Morning

I have had a large apple (really, it was huge), a banana and a tangerine for breakfast, and a handful of raw chard

Am resisting the remains of a lovely plump Victoria sponge in the fridge

filthymindedvixen · 21/04/2007 10:25

NQC - I love the stars one and for a geeky do it will look great.
Having said that, all the clothes you posted loook lovely. Have you made a decision yet?

filthymindedvixen · 21/04/2007 10:28

If any of you are mad enough to venture to the north, I'd love to see you.

Pirate attire non cumpolsory.

TT I am totally envious of your ancestory:
''She was a mother, a pirate, and one of the many great women of Ireland''

How fab is that for an epitaph?

(disclaimer: FMV's pirate infatuation has nothing whatsoever to do with rape, pillage, violence, robbery etc and everything to do with the sea, travel, rebellion, freedom, and a slightly gothic sense of style and appreciation of Skulls and Crossbones which still remains despite by apparent wispy hippy ambience.)

filthymindedvixen · 21/04/2007 10:29

scuse my spelling this morning.#

Overrun · 21/04/2007 10:37

I have to say that I am not too chipper this morning. I just couldn't get to sleep last night and then was up from 4am with ds1 who had a high temp which capol didn't bring down, and he was panting (presumably cos of temp) and wheezing due to Asthma. Any hint of respiratory problems and I worry Anyway, had in our bed to monitor and dh went into his.
I have started the day with a whole grapefruit, which in my knackered state I cut the wrong way
Really don't think I am up to exercise either, Filly, I probably have the same thing as you, just without having done severe exercise
NQC - hope you have a good weekend with your inlaws.
Franny - I have emailed Charleys mum, its such a shame. We had to have the test for CF for ds1, and we were so scared It must be so hard being in hospital with two young children.
