For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information \link{http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Policyandguidance/Healthandsocialcaretopics/FiveADay/FiveADaygeneralinformation/DH_4001494 \here} (follow the link at the very bottom of the page)

I have Transgressed today , I have had 2 MN friends and 7 children here today (including my two) and have eaten mostly cheese sandwiches and homemade Victoria sponge. I did have salad though, consisting of carrot, cucumber, lettuce, tomatoes, red pepper and yellow pepper. And an apple. So I MIGHT just sneak in under the bar, if I pig out on cauliflower and parsnips tonight

oh and I have had pizza
and some green and blacks chocolate.
which was nice.

Greensleeves · 20/04/2007 19:13

I'm not coming to any bloody 10/10 meet-up

I would look like a chunky-grip marker pen in a box full of pencils

harpsichordcarrier · 20/04/2007 19:14

does anyone want to know what I'm wearing?

cos no-one gives a flying toss in RL, as far as I can tell

harpsichordcarrier · 20/04/2007 19:15

you can stand next to me greeny. we can sit at the back painting our nails and reading Jackie and eating pepparami

Overrun · 20/04/2007 19:16

ARgh shucks Franny
NVQ and Filly, when do sits ups, my stomach domes a bit, like when you are pregnant, is this the type of thing you are talking about? I still haven't found a pilates class that I can afford, or that is on a reasonable time. Filly, there is on at nearby leisure centre, but on Sunday evenings between 8.30 and 10pm. Not a good time methinks.
Suzycreamcheese - it is a right pita, I think I will change provider when we move next month. I am really into my pc, but still just as ignorant about how it all works
So many lovely sounding portions being consumed here.

I had a saffron, leek and chickpea soup for dinner, which was very tasty, I will count it as 3 portions. I have also had half an Avacado (will check my portion list as to whether that makes one or two). Very happy to post the details of the soup if any one is interseted. It also has grated carrot and courgette and lemon peel in it.
NQC - just a thought, but I sometimes find that a regular thread becomes yet another thing that I feel is demanding a bit of my time, when I always feel hard pushed anyway. Sometimes I am in a social butterfly mood, and just want to flit from thread to thread.
Big smiley waves to all my other 10/10ers

I am absorbing lentilly good ness and vibes from this thread while consuming pitta pockets with marinaded chicken, peppers, onion and tomatoes, served with huge watecressy but greek-ish style green saladand rice with kidney beans. Do kidney beans count? I always forget.

actually harpsi, I'd dearly love to know what you are wearing. I am incurably nosey...

In fact, anyone on here....!

And just to be fair....I am wearing greeny swishy skirt with a smattering of sequins, a slash-necked white top, big belt, bare legs and feet and a skull and crossbones headband (left over from my pirate day but I am strangely attatched to it now )

Overrun · 20/04/2007 19:31

I am always fascinated by what people wear, so come on spill Harspicord. I am wearing shocking pink pj bottoms and a cream sleeveless pj top. My ds1 insisted that I have a bath with him tonigh, so I couldn't be bothered to get dressed again

Overrun · 20/04/2007 19:32

oh hiya filthy

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 19:34

greeny re: "I would look like a chunky-grip marker pen in a box full of pencils "

ah no my dear, you can stand next to me, that will sort you out

god i am frequently shocked at how i am not a svelte young thing

oh feckery am hoping i have not made frank really , have mailed her...

o/r from time to time i get free 5 day passes for david lloyd, can chuck one (or two) at you if you want next time i get one?

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 19:36

Overrun, I know what you mean. I just find a regular thread is too much of a commitment, I am posting more some days and less others. I appear to be back on the 'more' track now.

Your stomach doming when you do situps etc is a bad thing, btw. It won't help your stomach get flatter! (Although I don't think it will damage you per se.) The pilates way is to make sure your stomach doesn't stick out - if you are doing an exercise and your stomach is sticking out, then you're not ready to do that particular exercise, and should stick to easier ones. From what I know.

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 19:38

Oh, no, fmv, Frances probably has made this thread a pirate-free zone. She was quite when the DSes and I showed up at her drumming party in our pirate gear ...

And, hello, Greeny, you have met me! I am no pencil.

(Overrun, should have said, stomach doming is just bad pilates, it's not a gap. If you have a gap, you can feel a gap in your muscles, and you get other things bulging, from what I know, which is a Very Bad Thing Indeed.)

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 19:38

Tatties - you are simply not allowed to meet other 10/10nners until we get to meet up first!

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 19:39

Oh, and Frances, DS1 has had chicken pox, I was Very Organised, and he got it before he turned 2. Have been more lax with DS2, but as he was in a bath with his friend yesterday evening, and then she was feverish all last night, I am hoping that will do it.

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 19:40

NQC - you have pirate gear? Sister, oh my sister!

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 19:42

I don't have that much, but I have:

  • grey skirt with black skulls (H+M, this season)
  • stripey black and purple knee-high socks with Jolly Rogers on them

DS1 has a cheapo pirate costume from M+S, and a nice pirate hat from JL.

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 19:46

my boys have homemade raggy trews in white with black S&C all over (and that is what my headband is made from ) They have matching fake leather waistcoats with hand embroidered S and C on the back. And sashes and headscarves etc.
I have a fake leather tricorn hat and a floppy white shirt with big sleeves and low front, worn with leather lace up bustier waistcoat thing! And a swishy patchwork skirt and a velvet frock coat...

Have i scared anyone off yet?

filthymindedvixen · 20/04/2007 19:47

I have 2 t shirts with skulls and crossbone on too

NotQuiteCockney · 20/04/2007 19:47

Wow, very cool. You've got to wear that to a meet up!

Overrun · 20/04/2007 19:48

lol about the pirate gear, is this some strange festish that I haven't heard of, or just a swashbuckling flair for fashion?
Anyway, thanks NCQ for your advice. I will be more careful when doing my DVD. I am also pleased that we seem to be on the same wave lenght about posting, I was beginning to feel a tad shallow
Filly, those passes would be fanf*£%ingtastic I do wonder if we should meet up some time, but then I don't want to be too forward OOps now I have gone and done it

Fillyjonk · 20/04/2007 19:53

we bloody should, shouldn't we?

I'll be the one saying "I used to be a size 10, you know"

(we probably have met, you do know that? probably at softplay at what o/r may be remembering)

Overrun · 20/04/2007 19:55

Excellent, well we will have to fix something up, maybe after I move on the 12th.
I will be the one who used to be a size 16 and then dropped to a 8-10 after having dcs, and now is slowly moving back towards a 16 as the dts stop bfing so much

Cappuccino · 20/04/2007 19:58

greeny if it helps a woman at playgroup asked me if I was expecting another baby

so obviously though I thought I just needed to lose a couple of pounds to get back into my size 12s I am obviously a biffa

franny low fat mac and cheese sounds good. I made this in my slow cooker it is amazing it has changed my life (the cooker, not the macaroni)

I have just counted up my portions and only have 7

will I be flung out?
